Introduction

Plagueis, it I, your friendly whip-wielding Quaestor. There's going to be the usual shiny roundup, some history of July and some projects for people to potentially get involved with.

So yeah, plans, I have them. And I've titled this section in that manner because not only is alliteration awesome, but while being the Quaestor of Ajunta Pall, quite a few, if not all of my ideas can be extrapolated out to the Clan level.

First up, is a series of around 8 competitions I want to run over the rest of July, probably all at the same time because I'm weird. Now, this isn't going to be a formal event, but the competitions are going to be of a laid-back nature, similar to the Vacation on Dagobah event. The theme is going to be trivia and puzzle, so those are going to be prominently featured. It'll be Clan-wide and hopefully, bridge the gap to whatever that dastardly Conseal may or may not have planned next.

Next up, is a couple of things but they both fall under the ACC umbrella-ella-ella eh, eh eh. Both of these arose from the recent Coach's Corner event, where I was pleasantly surprised to see us lead the other clans in terms of both number of individual members taking part and participants as a ratio of the total clan membership. Coach, Voice and an all-around nice guy, Wally put together a guide for the event for his team to use. After the event, he was kind enough to share it and I'm going to be looking to add where I can and make it a more general guide document to the ACC to share with people. Next up, and the part where I'm going to be looking for members to volunteer to be a part of it, is something I'm tentatively titling the Plagueis Proofing Network or PPN for short. While the idea arose from positive feedback about the ACC event, I think this could be expanded to fiction in general. Obviously, you can't have a network of one person, so I'm looking for volunteers (it's technically a project and counts as being a constructive member of the community, which goes down with the shinies people) just drop me an email saying why you'd like to be a part of this and what you can bring to the group.

Next up, an opportunity to get involved with not only the things I mentioned above but any clan projects now and in the future, I have an Aedile spot to fill. Rather than regurgitate Ronovi's report, I'm just going to let you open it in a new tab and read for yourself. I would make sure if you do plan on applying, to get your application proofread, nothing makes someone say nope that "U gunna gimme a job m8 or wat?" I'm rather laid-back with my Aediles, I don't like to pressure them, do your regular duties and there won't be any problems, they get to pitch ideas to me, after all, it's a team effort, you're not my secretary. There are still 10 days to apply, but if you're thinking about applying, start working on an application when you can, even if you build it up over a week, it should still give you plenty of time before the deadline of the 20th.

British History of July

With World Cup fever sweeping, well basically just Europe at this point, I thought it'd be a good thing to look through the month of July in British History.

• July 1st 1838: Charles Darwin presented a paper to the Linnean Society in London, on his theory of the evolution of species and natural selection.

• July 10th 138AD: Death of the Roman Emperor Hadrian who ordered the building of a wall across northern England to keep out the barbarian Scottish tribes.

• July 18th 1920: 750,000 war dead are commemorated with the unveiling of a new national monument in Whitehall, London. The Cenotaph takes its name from the Greek words kenos and taphos meaning empty tomb.

• July 30th 1966: England win the Jules Rimet trophy, Real Football’s World Cup, at Wembley Stadium in London after beating Germany 4-2 in extra time. Is it coming home? Probably not, but we'll see.
