Introduction

Hello my fellow Pallians, our colleagues in Karness Muur and onlookers from the outside. In this month's report (which is going to be short because I was gaming things and then food shopping things when I usually put out my report), I'll be going to cover the upcoming event as well as the earnings of our members, happenings from elsewhere in the club and the monthly dose of history stuff. So without further adieu, let's get right into it.

Plagueis Probowl feat. Taldryan

So yeah, that's a thing. Oh ok, I'll give you a little bit more than that. So first I'll explain how this is different from other things we've done recently and also how it's similar. So the big difference is the selection of the teams. Like last year's and the real life NFL equivalent used to be(from what I got from Slags' report) members of Plagueis and Taldryan will be selected by captains. This being multi-unit our consul and Taldryan's proconsul lead one time while Tal's consul and our own Abadeer will lead the opposition. There's a competition starting on Monday that you can do but primarily serves to decide which team gets the first pick. Now, how is this similar to other stuff? From their it follows the usual kind of thing we do, about 8 competitions a week and the same scoring formula that places heavy importance on participation. We'll hear more about teams after the first competition has ended but for now, we must move on.

Time for some edumacation! Quote of the month and On this day

This month's quote is considerably more contemporary and comes to us from former US National Security advisor Colin Powell who said the following: "The healthiest competition occurs when average people win by putting above average effort. " I feel this is really relevant given the participation heavy focus of the scoring of events we run. Now to delve back in time for interesting/important/random events I find that happened on this day.

  • In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan's five ships set sail from Seville to circumnavigate the globe. His second-in-command Juan Sebastián Elcano will complete the expedition after Magellan's death in the Philippines.
  • 1793- The Musée du Louvre is officially opened in Paris, France.
  • 1846 1846 – The Smithsonian is chartered by the United States Congress after James Smithson donates $500,000.
  • 1969 – A day after murdering Sharon Tate and four others, members of Charles Manson's cult kill Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. The pair of killings are collectively known as the Tate-LaBianca murders.
