Meet The Peoples-That-Aren't-Quaestor

Well, the last time around I introduced myself as the new Quaestor, and since then we've had a full on reshuffle of the HAP summit. So, this time around it's time to introduce the other new folks.

Before I get to that, however, I want to recognize recently stepped down Aedile Furios Morega. I remember when I talked him into applying for the position over a year ago. He wasn't sure if it was something he was going to excel at, but I'm happy to know that his time in the post has been awesome and productive. I'd like to extend my thanks for his service, and everyone else should, too! Besides, he just passed his five year DJB-versary on the 7th (I wanted to go with DJBirthday, but alas…) so give him all the congrats! A successful year as a House Summiteer and successfully advancing past n00b status into DJB middle age? Drinks for Furios!

With Furios riding off into the sunset, his seat has been filled by new guy and all around activity maniac Dracaryis. Drac might be new to the DJB, but he's not new to leadership. Having held company command in the US army, he's got a mile long list of qualifications. When he took up the mantle of Aedile a week ago today, he sent out an email message to the entire House (that I hope everyone took a good look at!) But, I wanted to highlight a specific portion here:

Our best opportunity to increase involvement exists in our new member population. By taking an immediate, personal interest in our new members, we can show that this club is worth their time and effort, and that their desires are important to the House and Clan leadership.

Couldn't have said this better myself. Drac and I both feel that engaging with our newer members is of paramount importance. It isn't just something that us leader-types should be concerned with, every member of House Ajunta Pall should do their best to introduce themselves to all our newest members and make them feel welcome. I've always felt that Plagueis and its constituent Houses do best when we build a community, so let's get out there and build.

Now let's pretend I made a very witty segue about new members, because new member focus brings us to our next new leader. With Drac moving to HAP as Aedile, his position as a BTL in HKM was filled by moving Qormus into his slot. Replacing him is the woman looking to challenge Drac for his title of biggest whirlwind of activity Jai'de Serpens. Jai'de has already brought in some fresh blood to Plagueis and HAP, and in real life does a lot of work with recruitment and training.

So, you might see a lot of focus on team and community building in this new House summit. I, however, am never one to let an opportunity to allow real life to put a special emphasis on the importance of both of those concepts. As I was finishing this section of the report I saw an entire flock of crows flying through the air outside my open windows. Said flock was loudly crowing and chasing a red tailed hawk all over the sky and driving it out of their territory (No lie!). With teamwork, we too can make loud noises and drive away avian predators! (Or something like that I guess.)

I know all of you are devouring the competitions and fiction of the Restoration event and it's first round (Restoration: Broken). The current events will all end this Friday the 15th (and remember, end-of-day for the server is at 8 pm Eastern/5 pm Pacific). There are four events to enter, linked below:

Now, remember that there are more than the regular medals/bragging rights up for grabs here. The winner of Phase I (the Broken one) will be a featured player in the Clan fiction updates for Phase II, Restoration: Building. (Yes, I just spoiled the title of Phase II. You heard it here first!) Said fiction updates might involve general badassery, reptiles, teeth, and claws. That's all I'm sayin', you'll get nothing more from me. I really, really want to see a minion of mine in that role, so go out and make me proud. Also Drac. And Jai'de. And Zoidberg.

Once the first round is over, we'll be taking a two week break for grading and setting up the next round so you'll all have a nice break in between. In the meantime, I'm sure that there will be a few competitions being run by various denizens of the house to keep you all interested and raring to go for Phase II.

Better Know a Journeyman

It's time once more for Better Know a Journyeman. I think we need a theme song for this, but we'll just have to make do with what we have. This month, Drac brings you questions of our honoree (victim?), Calvo! Well, the Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Calvo since his name changed to Tevarias about halfway through my composing this report. Identity crisis? The world will never know.

What brought you to the Brotherhood?

Calvo: In all honesty I had heard about it a few times and checked it out. Seeing that its a place where i could write and just relax I signed up. I know I have gone silent everyone once in a while but school keeps catching me off guard, so the fact that there is a place I can relax is refreshing.

How do you like the brotherhood so far?

Calvo: It has been interesting. The Great Jedi War was exciting, and the people here in Clan Plagueis are amazing.

What are your primary goals within the DJB?

Calvo: That is a tough one. I started off just joining to write, but now that I have gotten into my character, giving him a good storyline and seeing him through until the end has become important. Granted depending on the results of my most recent ACC match may leave him dead, in which case getting into a new character is high on my priorities. The most important goal remains the same and that is to have fun.

Calvo's Final Words: If I could say anything else, it is that I want to just encourage my fellow Journeymen to stay active. I would also like to thank those who have helped me remain active.

• Jai'de Serpens - So, since the last go round she's been awarded an Anteian Cross, a Scroll of Indoctrination, and been promoted to Jedi Hunter. Somebody might just be unstoppable.
• DeCicco Ehne - A new HAPian who has blown through the Journeyman ranks all the way to Protector already. Everyone, say "Hi Decicco!"
• Misium - Made out like a bandit and earned himself a Seal of Loyalty. So, now we know who to trust with the secret codes…
• Tevarias - Was so active he summoned forth a Dark Cross from the ether.

• Gaming Update 36 - The one where Val announces an LoA. Will Furios engineer a coup to take over the office in his absence? Nobody knows for sure!

Final Words

Another month in this sentient's Brotherhood. We've had some fun fiction updates to move our Clan story forward. (Speaking of, did you notice that our Consul totally sees like Daredevil now? Awesome.) I know everyone up in Summit land has some more stuff coming down the pipe, both fiction and competition wise, so it should end up being a fun summer. Next month, though, keep your eyes peeled for Drac's first report from the hot seat. I'm sure it will be full of Ajunta Pall-ian goodness.
