Dajorra System

His eyes opened hesitantly. The light assaulted his senses and objects slowly materialized from indistinct blobs into definite outlines. Gradually, color filled in those outlines and the scene began to form before him. He croaked when he tried to speak only then realizing a tube had been inserted down his throat during his medical treatment.

The Shadow Lady looked up from her chair at his bedside. He could feel her concern emanating through the Force; the emotion was genuine, if not laced with something bordering contempt. She spoke in a deliberative pace for the weary Dark Adept that lay before her. “You-really-frakked-that-one-up, Starbuck.”

He barked a short laugh that caused pain to ripple through his body. The Consul of Arcona stood up and removed the tube from his mouth so that she could properly reprimand her newest Quaestor. He was the third in the position in just several short months, but she would not have trouble hiring a fourth if he continued to fail her expectations – Elder or not. She commanded a legion of Dark Adepts as the ultimate authority of the Shadow Clan.

*Free from the device, Braecen worked his jaw around before he could respond. His voice was hoarse, “My apologies, Atyiru. My reception with Perdition did not go as we had planned.”

“Obviously,” came her curt reply.*

She let out an exasperated sigh, “Tell me what happened.” For several minutes he retold Atyiru what had happened – in detail, the Shadow Lady would expect nothing less – during his mission. He recounted how he had used the information provided by the Consul to track the remaining leaders, his attempted ambush, and ultimate failure to assassinate his targets.

He did not immediately offer details of the torture that followed his capture, but she pulled the information from him; cataloguing the man’s shame, and the power it gave her over him, as he told her how he had been the one to forfeit SCEPTER locations and secure encryptions.

“I… my life is yours, Atyiru,” he finally ended his tale.

She sat for several long moments without a reply. While the losses had been astronomical to the Private Military Firm, it had created much needed resolve within the Dajorra Defense Forces. In fact, she had been pleasantly surprised by the vitality and determination of Uji Tameike to lead the offensive. His ability to blend Force-User and Non-Force-User into a single weapon. It was by his skill alone that the Darkest Night and Nighthawk had narrowly avoided death. Her tacticians were still telling her that what he had done was impossible with the amount of damage sustained by both ships.

“Your life is mine, Braecen,” she began in a calm, measured tone. “And I will not be sacrificing it for nothing. You will serve this Clan and not carelessly throw it away – unless – I command it.” “What is your command… Shadow Lady?”

Uji admired the ease in which Atyiru commanded. As he listened carefully to her words through the holo-vid, he knew that she was one of the special ones. Her star was rising and he would be so lucky to cling to her coattails and rise with her. Perhaps to Grand Master? He mused. There had been a groundswell of support for her ascension towards the Iron Throne – in due time. He would monitor the back channels through the Dajorra Intelligence Agency.

“And that brings me to our last point of business, Uji.” His attention was wholly on her now. Her sightless gaze aimed at him through the holo-transmission. “I am disbanding SCEPTER. Effective immediately, we will integrate its forces into the Dajorra Defense Force along with all assets previously assigned to its operation.”

If the other leaders within the Clan disagreed with her decision, none of them voiced it publicly. “Furthermore,” she continued, “I am integrating House Galeres into the Chain of Command of the Dajorra Defense Forces. They are to act as Special Advisors during any military conflict deemed an emergency by myself or Arcia.”

A sense of admiration flowed through Uji at the mention of the Proconsul. He had served with her since her commission aboard the Nighthawk, but not every member of the Clan had the same relationship with Cortel.

Her cruelty was well known throughout the Clan. No one would dare challenge her authority as it was absolute and granted by Atyiru. Her no nonsense style and military brilliance had allowed her to rise through the ranks almost as fast as the Shadow Lady herself. If Galeres would be serving directly within the ranks of the Arconan military machine, they would directly be serving the Lieutenant Colonel going forward.

“That is all,” Atyiru completed. Uji watched as his fellow leaders disconnected from the secure channel. “Did you have something more, Aedile?” She noted his lingering with amusement and sincerity. The pair of them had served for many years together.

“Braecen?” he inquired.

“Will live. Only his pride is damaged. Yet, Arcia’s scheme worked perfectly – either he would become more manageable after failure or he would be dead.” He was impressed, “Another Dark Adept at the service of the Lord Consul. I don’t know how you do it.”

“Do not be impressed just yet. We still have to deal with the thorn known as Perdition.”

Introduction

Welcome my friends,

With the conclusion of Fall of Scepter I wanted to bring you a report to keep everyone up to date on what we have currently happening. To begin, I want to extend my personal thanks to each and every one of you who participated and contributed to the success of this event. It was quite genuinely one of the best times I have had as a leader within Arcona. So, thank you for everything you have done and for continuing to be a part of what makes this Clan amazing.

While Braecen and I will always provide additional ways for you as members to participate by running competitions and providing projects, we also want you to know that if you have something that you would enjoy running or designing, you should bring us your ideas. We will always be willing to help you proceed with whatever you enjoy within Arcona.

Nighthawk Battleteam Leader: Applications

Send your applications to Myself ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Braecen ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) by Thursday, October 22nd at 23:59 EST or 04:59 GMT. Remember that emailing us both is a requirement.

Applicants should have:

1. Any past leadership in the Brotherhood or notable achievements listed

2. Any leadership experience outside of the club or in real life that may be relevant listed

3. Email turn around time of no more than 24 hours ( < 24)

4. Ideas for the Battleteam's fictional development

5. Ability to create, promote, and grade Battleteam competitions (such as ROs)

6. Ability to keep Battleteam wiki pages up to date

7. Ability to work with other teams/Houses/Clans in collaboration
