The time has come, as the walrus said. While it’s been mentioned at least a few times, this is officially my last report as Quaestor of Galeres (pending shenanigans that land me back here). It’s been one hell of a rollercoaster of growling and groaning through the wax and wane of activity, trying to make something unique for the House and all of you in it.
All in all, I think we did okay. We gave Galeres a plot where once it lingered in limbo with the reconquest of Eldar, which I hope Sera will let me participate in while he finishes it off. We were the origin point and test bed of the roleplaying system that has become a club-wide phenomenon. We gave life to pieces of Arcona that were left to linger and quietly die away, and in so doing give our House something bigger and better than it had before.
I can’t thank you all enough, for without you, none of this would have happened. I’ll still be around in Arcona, and fully intend to finish off some wiki work on my way out. Always remember kids: what you put in is what you get out of something. Keep doing great things, Galeres.
I’ll see you in space.

Here is where I would talk about Q standing relieved, free of the duties of her post, yadda blah yadda. Thankfully, this isn’t that kinda place. Our Crimson Quaestor kicked ass in this position, helping to revive Galeres’ fictional plotline and center our house as it stands today. I can only hope to emulate their deft leadership, and expertly handed fictions…and I’m sure that we’ll still be seeing plenty of the Red Qek.
But, all of that said, short introductions are already in order. My name is Orion, though some here also know me as Sera; shooter’s preference, there. I’ve been a member of our esteemed club for a little over two and a half years now, a stretch of time that surprises me, sometimes. The years really do fly by, don’t they?
For some more information about myself; I love the art of writing and invest most of my club time into various fictional and poetic activities. My primary character, Sera Kaern, is a overtly-optimistic, hyper-combative, horny, kicky zabrak. If you haven’t seen her in action, you soon will :D. Other than that, my real life interests extend over history, literature, politics, economics, and all things military in general.
That leads me from personal ramblings into a more serious branch of discussion; the future. It is an increasingly uncertain thing, plotting out the future. I’m sure all of you are keeping track of current events, the clouds that gather on the global horizon. In times like these, we must turn to the people around us for support…which is exactly what I aim to do for our House. With a well-aimed fictional plotline already established, our primary task is, now, to grow closer as a House. We must solidify our persona, establish ties that will bind us together, and too our clan. Galeres already has an identity, of course; we are Arcona’s militant arm, the sword and shield, the commanders on the bridge and the dogs of war in the field.
We have big boots to fill, and a long path ahead of us, Gal. So, pick up your rucks, and let’s kick some ass, yeah?

To begin, the clan event has drawn to a close, and results will probably be rolling out very, very soon! Moreover, with the change in command, a fictional update will be released in an individual posting, very soon. But, for both our newer members, and our members that haven’t been tracking, I thought I would give a short synopsis of where things stand in our House’s plotline.
To begin, Galeres stands as the decisive component of the Arconan Armed Forces. Our house has long controlled and protected Arconan ventures off-world, namely on the planets within the Dajorran confederacy, Eldar and Arconae Primus. Eldar, in particular, was a strong, rich, and vibrant world…until a plague struck Dajorra several years back, devastating Eldar’s population. A little more than a year and a half ago, Galeres made the choice to return to Eldar. We found the remnants of its dominant species, the reptilian Keadeans, still surviving, but reduced to scattered, feudal populations, preyed upon by opportunistic pirates from off-world. In an effort to begin rebuilding the planet, Galeres hunted down and destroyed these marauders in their strongholds, and rescued the Keadeans that they had been holding captive. But, along the way, we discovered that the situations wasn’t as simple as we had assumed.
Historically, the Keadeans had kept a near-human species, known as the Sardinians, subjugated as a servant-class. The Sardinian population was similarly impacted by the plague, but emerged with a far larger population than their former rulers, forming a strong, theocratic government aligned under the centralized power of a spiritual leader, known as the Kasha. Obviously, the Sardinians have little love for the Keadeans, and despite Galeres moving in to try and establish relations, they remain at each other’s throats. Efforts have only been made more complex by the steady growth of Sardinian terrorist elements, targetting the Keadeans, pushing Eldar ever closer to a bloody war in which there can be no true victors.
A storm is rising, Galeres. And, for better or for worse, we will be at the center of it. Expect more info in the coming fiction, and a miniature run-up to the main event beginning near the end of this month.
Fresh off the presses!
Not a whole ton of news in February…aside from real life stuff. But, that leaves more time for competitions!

That wraps us up for now. Keep your eyes up for a fiction coming very soon, and your ear to the ground for any other rumblings within the clan. Moreover; stay positive. A storm might be brewing, but that is no reason to fear. As long as you have your friends by your side, danger will never come near. Stay out of trouble, Galeres!
In the whisper of the wind, and the mutter of the thunder,
Through the weeping of the rain, when the sky comes asunder,
We must stand through lightning-flash, and earthquakes from deep under,
To behold the rising sun, the dawn, and smile in our wonder.
