Admin Notes

Roleplay Sessions

This may not come as a surprise to most of you, but we are suspending the House RPs for at least the first half of the RoS. This is to allow folks the time to get into the rhythm of competition participation and, as we have seen and has been noted by others, distract from the other things happening in regards to the big event.

Come mid-month, we’ll put some feelers out and see what folks prefer: RP silence for the event’s duration, or running some light stuff toward the end. You are all still welcome and encouraged to participate in any private or Clan RP-chat RPing as you like. We are only speaking for the planned House stuff.

Event Calendar

We’re keeping this bullet point calendar here for you guys to keep up that expectation management as the months and events go by. Don’t say we didn’t warn you when things start happening.

• June: Rite of Supremacy in full swing. DO. THE. THING!
• July: Break time.
• August: Clan event; another step on the train of monster creatures or whatever Lucine and Rhylance are cooking up.
• September: House event that will be half plot, half development for Eldar.
• October: House mini-event with spoopy themes because October. Less plot, more antics.
• November: Break time.
• December: Hey look, Sithmas and Life Day are back. No House/Clan events planned.

News

Welcome all! Really only one piece of news for this month. The RoS has started, and is in full damned swing! There’s just a few extra tid-bits, coming right up. * We got a Headmistress Report back last month, with some helpful info! Go ahead and check it it out! * We also had a report from our beloved Herald, Alaisy. You can check it out here! * Lots of fiction updates involving the ongoing Rite of Supremacy, that’ll be rather important if you plan on participating (which you should). Here, you’ll find chapter three of the prelude, Shadows Coalescing , and here, you’ll find the first chapter of the RoS fictions, Escalation . Notes on the Rites

Howdy again, folks! Doing something a little bit different from our normal competitions section. Instead of running over all of the competitions going on right now — which would be a lot, with the RoS — I’m going to hit on a few points of this particular Rite, alongside some of the simpler comps that I think everyone can participate in.

Factions and Sub-factions

As you will have hopefully noticed, if you are planning to participate, this Rite of Supremacy is a little bit different from the standard fare. Instead of sticking to plain clan-competition, the members of the club have been offered sub-factions to pledge to, portions of two important factions within our storyline, the Severian Principate and the Tenixir Revenants. To run over them very quickly.

• Severian Principate Restorationists: The most “pro-imperial” of the ex-empire faction, the Restorationists are aggressive and violent, believing that the Tenixir Revenants should be utterly destroyed or returned to imprisonment, and that they must be dealt with before the Principate can go on.

• Severian Principate Harmonists: The “Dove” faction in the Principate senate, the Harmonists believe that it is better to seak a peaceful solution with the Revenants, ending the conflict with minimal loss of life.

• Tenixir Revenants Retributionists: The more aggressive, criminal faction of the Revenants led by Rasha Hawee. They are actively engaged in destroying the Principate through use of force, and are involved in more morally questionable criminal business practices, namely slavery. To put it shortly, they are pirates, and they will take no prisoners.

• Tenixir Revenants Expansionists: The less militaristic faction of the Revenants, led by Zyft Yadar. Technically “mutineers” against Hawee’s orders, the Expansionists believe that vengeance against the Principate is a harmful distraction, and that the Revenants will be best served by peace, and continued expansion of their power.

It should be noted that once you pledge to a faction, here, and participate in a competition as part of a faction, you will be unable to join another. This is a neat and unique opportunity to cooperate with folks outside of our clan, and compete against a more broad subsection of the club; there’s even more opportunities for shinies, if you do well within your faction!

Rite Competitions

If you’re confused as to where you should start with your competitions, I have a few recommendations for phase 1.

• Phase One Fiction Bin: For this bin, I’d start off with the Venue To Die For, which tasks you with creating an ACC-style venue on the planet of Dandoran. Short, sweet, simple, and it’ll reward good creativity.

• Phase One Gaming Bin: I hope everyone will do this one. A very, very simple, and vaguely frustrating, HTML game. My current highscore is 43,000. Tell me if you beat it! :D

• Phase One Graphics and Miscelaneous Bin: There’s actually two for this section. The first is pretty simple. In order to participate or place in the Push The Button comp, head over to DB general, and get a positive point by pushing the button. If that’s not really your style, you can also Hunt The Jedi, here!

Qek and Kicks Q&A

Ood asks: If Ood commits too many warcrimes as a Retributionist, will the house try to hold a tribunal afterwards? Cos I've kinda already rammed a ship into an urban center on a planet, killing thousands and causing an eco disaser (so just asking).

• Qyreia: There’s a lot of OOC vs IC things going on there. First, do Q/Sera even know that Ood is an active presence again, much less know who he is? He has been rather dormant for a long time. Does your story (with its city-killing) actually make it into DB canon? If not, then the whole thing becomes a moot point. And last, even if we did, would it be something you played along with either IC or OOC? Because most players, much less their characters, would just laugh at “legal ramifications” to their actions.
• Sera: I don’t know if there’ll be a full tribunal, that sorta depends on you and Ood, but if he goes and kills tens of thousands of people, Sera’s gonna be very interested in kicking him in the damned face and bringing him in for justice. :D

Atty asks: RoS comp you're most excited for?

• Qyreia: Fiction stuff, as always. No particular competition in mind though.
• Sera: I actually felt really inspired for The Heist and The Machines Of War, and I’m obviously super excited to see how our Run-On turns out. They offer a lot of avenues for my characters, and a lot of different ways to approach them, and I’m happy with the ideas that I’ve started to throw at the wall

Anything you liked in the opening fiction?

• Qyreia: Py’zah the Hutt.
• Sera: I actually really enjoyed the auction section, the whole introduction really. Dandoran is interesting, and fighting a full fledged war on a criminal paradise should be fun.

One free moment to [complain], what's driving you crazy?

• Qyreia: Real life and having so much to do with so little time in a day.
• Sera: To be entirely honest, I don’t have a damned thing to complain about. Having a little bit more time would be nice. Not free time, I have plenty of that, but more hours in the day. Less time spent sleeping, more time spent having fun with you guys, seeing my family, enjoying myself before I ship off for the summer. I’ve got a deadline rapidly approaching, and though I’m looking forward to it, once I’m over there I’ll be kissing any and all freedom and time goodbye for a good, long while.

For Q: since we haven't RP'd it yet and i'm curious, Alayne and Beren thoughts on Ruka (and family?) What's Q told them if anything? First impression on sight?

• Qyreia: Some classic “He’s a nice boy,” and other fond notes about him and his family. Q’s probably whined to them about several things concerning Ruka and his immediate family (since she’s probably only partly aware of his adopted siblings from the Clan).

For Ori: similar question, Koren thoughts on the db if any? On Sera now? First impression of Ruka on sight?

• Sera: One of the reasons I wasn’t able to get his character sheet straightened before the war is that I’m still figuring out his backstory. I would love for him to have had contact with the Brotherhood, with Arcona, prior to whatever landed him in Tenixir prison. I would like that contact to have left an incredibly negative reputation on him, to give him a reason to view them as enemies, or at least people that he wouldn’t trust with his sister. As for Ruka and Koren...heh. I’ll say that’s heavily dependent on the context of the meeting.
