It’s that time again Muurians!

We had a really fun start to the year with our Vacation to [Redacted]... I mean Dagobah and I want to start off by giving a huge congratulations to Furios, Azmodius and Teylas for an incredibly successful and well run event that netted a whopping 369 entries across all of Plagueis over the duration of the 2 week run of the event. Now HKM only accounted for 113 of these entries which means there is a lot of room to improve, these were really fun and quick competitions designed to be completed in a few minutes each, though I want to apologize for not pushing participation as much in the second week as I did in the first. I feel like participation is an area that our house needs to improve and it is something I would like to push every member of HKM on for future events.

I will say I thought that this was great event and I am personally a really big fan of this format. We did even have one member who joined Plagueis only last month, one of our newest Muurian’s Tahiri took third place overall!

Get To Work

I'll start this section off with some inspirational music, just click the image below though be warned there is some use of profanity.

This month I want to go over something that is very important to myself, and that's staff work. I know many of you have been here a lot longer than I have, however in the 9 months that I have been here I have come to see not only the members of Plagueis but the whole Brotherhood as an extended family.

When I first started here I never thought I would see myself in a staff position but after being nudged by our benevolent PCon Pie Laren, I took the leap into the position of Battleteam Leader for the Circle. Since then I have spend 7 month on the Clan Summit and 5 months as Magistrate to the Voice. That means that I have now spent over 3/4s of my career here in the Brotherhood working for all y’all.

I'm sure you're sitting there wondering “Hey Tuqqy, we get it. Stop bragging, we know your awesome.” And while appreciate that you think I'm awesome, I assure you this isn't meant to brag. This is my way of saying that if I can hold down multiple positions within this club with my relative inexperience than anyone can do it.

Honestly applying for staff positions is one of the best ways to show that you care about the future of the club and a great way to actually have a hand in the operation of the club. There is one thing I can’t stress enough though, even if you apply and don't get the position that doesn't mean people won't notice and ask you for your input or help on various projects. And heck, if you don't get the position you're applying for don't let it get you down, most staff are more than willing to give you some feedback and answer questions on how you can improve your application for the next time.

There are always positions opening up in the Brotherhood so just because you didn't get the job the first time doesn't mean you won't get it next time, there are only so many positions in the Brotherhood and a lot of members.

This brings me to my next point. Farrin has announced that our PCon Pie Laren is stepping down from his position as Praetor to the Headmaster. Laren has done an absolutely fantastic job in this role and sunk countless hours into making the Shadow Academy the best it could be, please thank Laren for this tremendous effort, but this means that the position is now open for applications until 12th of February so you don't have much time. You can find his report on this here which includes the list of requirements. Please take the time to look over this and consider applying!

If I can impart a little bit more advise in regards to applications it would be this, read the requirements carefully, make sure you meet the requirements, just have fun with the app and show off a little bit of your own personality!

News in the Brotherhood

Staying informed in the Brotherhood is incredibly important so I’d like to highlight a few key reports to have come out recently.

• House Ajunta Pall Quaestor Report #10: Back To Work - The one where Kelly discusses the Vacation results and urges everyone to stay busy.

• Grand Master: Nomination, Vote, and Ratification - The one in which Pravus officially announces the date he will be stepping down as GM and who he is nominating as his replacement, spoiler alert: I’m told he’s the worst.

• Headmaster's Report #18: This report can vote! - The one I’ve already talked about in this report but I want to stress the importance of applying for positions within the club.

• [GJWXII: Retribution] Chapter 5 - Riposte and [GJWXII: Retribution] Chapter 6 - Finale - The one where Wally continues the plot following the GJW, read this one and look out for some familiar faces and a really trendt hat.
