House Shar Dakhan - Enjoy The Holidays - 12/15/2015
Greetings Shar Dakhan,
Your hardworking Summit has been plotting. Oh yes, the plotting has been great. We are coming at you all with a combined fictional direction that will rock your collective socks. Keep an eye out for an update from Locke and Cethgus, which will lead into Shar Dakhan and Marka Ragnos updates as well.
These will have asymmetrical themes between the Houses, offering differing opportunities. At least one of the Dakhan related events will leave a mark in Clan Canon for your character, so I hope you all will be paying attention as it is too great an opportunity to miss out on. We're going to keep driving forward in this way, incorporating more of you into our Clan identity and history in as organic a way as possible.
That said... keep having fun, and never silence yourselves in our chats. I love the life you all bring to it, and it's a riot to read up through the history after my work shifts.

The DC has events running! Many events! Like at least one for each facet of the Council! That's a lot of comps, and yet there are still more! Whoever could go through the effort of compiling them in an easily accessible manner... oh yeah, I could. And I did!
- This is the parent competition where you can find all 9 competitions related to the DC comps! None of these are particularly difficult and this is a great chance to get some recognition and easy participation.
- This one starts in January and is a bit of a different sort of event. Rather than writing a fiction, you are writing an intelligence report relating to a high profile target that you feel should be marked for death. Interesting!
- Who doesn't like a good crossword? Especially when it is themed on some of our favourite films!
- Voice-staff run fiction comp here. 500-3000 word fiction pertaining to your character receiving a gift from another member, or npc. So, be honest... did you regift it to Howie?

What is your view on less than serious questions?
There is always a time and place for levity. At the end of the day, this section is an open avenue for members to air grievances, concerns, and ask whatever question they like. If my members are so at ease with my leadership that they chose to embrace friendly banter, then I'm okay with that and will answer regardless.

What is your favorite thing to do?
Acting like a complete dweeb, blaring music, singing and writing fiction. I know this is many things, but I do them simultaneously which combines them into one super thing. The only thing. This is my thing.
What do you hate most about work?
The getting out of bed in the morning. By and far the most difficult task I must complete each day. The rest is gravy. Work is something you do for money, but you should at least enjoy aspects of it. I like my coworker, brings in good banter and enjoyment.
What all foods with raisins do you like?
Oatmeal Raisin cookies... and Raisin Butter tarts...
What are your plans for the new coming year?
Why do people assume I have plans? I don't plan anything, I make it up as I go and just pull it off so well it looks like I had a plan... In all honesty I'm out to keep generating content for our member base, preferably tailored to their desires. I also am going to plunge further into Voice related tasks as I want to make myself look like a very difficult to turn down candidate for my boss' job some day.

Are you liking being a new Character? Since Atra has been gone?
Yeah, actually. It has honestly been a lot of fun to look at material from another character's perspective. It makes me stop to think, as I had fallen into such a familiar rut with Atra. His actions flowed so easily to the page that I never had to worry or plan. With Keira I have to think harder, shift the perspective, and overall enjoy writing a hell of a lot more.
What position did you like most in the DB?
Praetor to the Voice thus far, though Proconsul was pretty close. Proconsul was what I liked to call "all the power and responsibilities of a Consul, with none of the publicity". It allowed me to do pretty much whatever, with Locke's blessing, and ensure the best environment for our members without having to deal with politics. Plus, I started the whole "Brocon" thing with Marick. That's a legacy everyone should hope for.

Atra is, for all intents and purposes, dead at this moment in time. Thank you for your inquiry... Q murder is always a possibility.

Whelp, we have to tackle our Wiki at some point! That baby is out of date and I hate Wikis... I want nothing to do with them, but this gots to be done... and if I'm able to recognize that, that says something. So, Wiki work will be available to help Journeymen climb the ranks, on top of the House/Battleteam events to come in January, and what the bosses may or may not have planned for February,

Absolutely nothing PG-13 friendly... But reading a book would work I suppose?

Which has been easier for leadership: new member buy-in or old member retention? Has Telegram helped or hurt?
Love this question. Everything about it. What I can say most assuredly, is that neither of those options are easier than the other. We've struck a remarkable balance right now between new and old members within Naga Sadow, and that's a fun thing to see. It's like a breath of fresh air livening up the place.
Telegram has had a lot to do with this new wave. Something I found in the DB Guild (before I split off to take a break) was the camaraderie built through WhatsApp. We were in constant communication and became a very close knit family. A great group of guys that built up friendships I still have. The same is happening within Naga Sadow through Telegram. The constant stream of communication causes bonds between members that would be harder to build through merely e-mail, and even IRC. It's immediate, and ever present, and frankly a little crazy... I love it.

Greetings all.
I'm back from what seems like a long hiatus, I'm glad the place hasn't fallen apart in my absence even if I did have to give the place a clear out.
So there are some big top secret things that we are looking into working on in the months to come which are going to be awesome but for now you can all relax and enjoy the holiday period. So Happy Holidays and I'll see you all in the new year.
Quaestor's Last Word
With The Checklist Gone, I Can't Even See The Requirements. How Am I Supposed To Promo?
As the ad libbed line above suggests, I've noticed a trend of confusion in some of our members. Once they hit Knighthood they feel lost and unsure how to go about acquiring further promos. My counter to this is simple... who says the checklist is gone?
I mean, there really isn't a true one, but think about the actions you took to get where you are. What steps did you follow to become a Knight or equivalent within the Brotherhood? You generated content, you helped your Clan/Others, and you participated regularly in all the avenues offered within the club. Why do you think this would change when the checklist disappears?
It doesn't. These are the things that got you to your current rank, and it is the same grouping that will get you further. Never stop doing what you did to get where you are, and you will never stop progressing. If you stall out, slow down, and lower your presence... then it will take longer to progress and you have only yourself to look to in order to resolve it.
Keep participating, keep being active in generating and consuming content, and you will keep promoting.
Keep it up, minions. You're all my favourites and I can't wait to do more with all of you. Looking forward to the doing more events with you all in the future, and I'm excited to see what you all have in store for me.
