Daleem orbit
Hab-5
The deckplate shook as something vital failed. Accompanied by a glacial moan of durasteel being bent under growing strain, it was enough to make Nikora Rhan stagger from where she had only just righted herself. It seemed Hab Five had gone from being a problem child to a downright suicidal one.
Shouts were dominating much of the integral bridge as the assembly of crewmen and engineers, some who called the Mon Calamari ship home and a wealth of who had been drafted in from the Odanite fleet, fought to keep Hab Five stable. Hanging in the air between them all, a vaguely oval shape of Hab Five seemed to shimmer with the constant quakes. As much a ship as it was a city, like many Mon Calamari constructs, . With each motion, another red blotch would blink into existence along its side, slowly forming a chain of errors dominating its port underside. With the entire room bathed in the blood red of emergency lighting, the otherwise blue hologram was the only real flash of colour now.
"Engine eight has malfunctioned," a Weequay wearing an older style OEF uniform Rhan didn't recognise spoke out. "Still no word on engines two through seven."
"Any word on what's causing it?" Rhan asked, shouting as the hull gave a seismic rumble once more, and they felt it begin to tilt.
"Negative, we're still trying to redirect astromechs to that section. Most of them are still busy with the secondary reactors."
Rhan added that to the growing list of errors and failings that she had been expected to track and resolve since her arrival. It had begun almost the moment after she had stepped off of the shuttle, from minor failings in gravity plating to the abrupt failure of the hyperdrive system. Concerning but minor at first, but quickly picking up to severe as they closed upon Daleem. Now that they were entering orbit, it had become so severe that Rhan was surprised Hab Five had not abruptly ripped itself in half and thrown them all into hard vacuum.
The comlink at Rhan's station on the bridge blinked several times and she quickly tapped in the response code.
"Talk to me, Ka."
"I was hoping you'd do that, and tell me what's going wrong," Tarvitz's booming voice came through the comlink. "What in the nine hells is happening up there?"
"We've got severe malfunctions across several decks, cause unknown." Rhan said. "The most recent ones are the engine assemblies across-"
"Yeah, I can see them, and malfunction is putting them politely," Tarvitz interrupted. "I'm on the secondary helm position and we've got a good view over the hull. Sections of the hull are bent outward, with the kind of warping effect you'd get from high energy discharges." "Weapons, malfunctions, or sabotage?"
"Malfunctions I'm guessing if we're still here. Me and the two others are here trying to keep Hab Five steady, but it's not like piloting the Spitfire."
"Just do the best that you can," Rhan said, sucking in air through her clenched teeth as she considered their choices. "If we can just get down into the water we can probably survive this." It was Tarvitz's lack of immediate response which gave Rhan pause. "What else?"
"It's not just us, we're on a collision course with another Hab unit with those engines gone. I'd say we've got about four kilometres before we smash right into the side of it."
Rhan looked up at the hologram again and then the other several displays. Not a single one featured any sign of a nearby object, or any details beyond the planned reentry path ahead of them.
"It's safe to assume we've lost the sensors as well. Do what you can from there, I'll try and make sure we get a soft landing."
"Will do," Tarvitz said as he sighed off. Rhan could almost hear the grin in his voice. He always had liked a challenge.
Rhan looked up again at the display, slowly weighing their options. Most she knew would only end in a painful death surrounded by a blazing inferno of liquifying metal. Yet one stood out in her mind. The irritational kind of option that so many victories had been won on the back of. The kind of raw insanity she had so often tried to sidestep in favour of careful planning and enough fallbacks to make survival a certainty.
"Send a message to all areas of the ship we still have working communications with. Tell them to brace for turbulence. If they're working on something which isn't preventing our reactors exploding or inertial dampeners failing, tell them to step back from it."
"Rhan?" The same Weequay as before spoken up, a questioning look covering his wrinkled features. "Sir, what are you about to do?"

Welcome to the third House Sunrider Summit report.
Results for Under the Sea are in. News from the Clan front? New wiki page? Revak and Nero are detectives? What? Read the fiction!
All this and more below!
Under the sea finished a week or so ago. I learned a few things from it.
The flash game comp was the most popular (obviously :P) and some of you enjoyed the other ones as well. Primarily the fiction and location creation. The least participated in was the NPC comp, though, which is unexpected.
A follow up set of comps is following soon. It’ll deal with the aftermath of Hab-5 crash landing.
Still, thank you everyone who participated and congrats to the winners :D
In this section I’ll touch upon the House itself, as usual.
Tythas City, Sunrider’s new home, now has a beginning of a wiki page:
Check it out here: Tythas City.
Tl:dr, the city is split into three distinct sectors/districts/parts: New Tythas, Rift city, and the Abyssal deeps, each with its own culture, aesthetic and feel. I’d like us all to expand on it in the future
Wolfe/Masahiro has taken a leave due to health and Jack/Miho is officially in charge until he comes back. Force help us all.
Get better soon, CONman :D
Congrats on 1up 😀
