Greetings, House Qel-Droma!
It’s another beautiful day in the neighborhood! And by beautiful, I mean there’s fighting in our streets, Collective soldiers stranded on Selen, and a questionably recovering drunkard at our clan’s helm. All is well, mhm. We have something special for you, followed up by the usual mix of news, competition samples, proudly earned awards and promos.
First, however, a couple things to address. Top of which, a big shout out to Lucine. Lucine helps out with every report we write, gathering the competition, news, promo events, and more. Simultaneously, it’s been stellar working alongside this dedicated woman. She’s full of fantastic ideas and patience. Honestly, I would pick up working with her again any day.
As you all know, I am stepping down as Quaestor of HQD. It has been truly a wonderful experience throughout this stretch of leadership I’ve held, from Battleteam Leader to Aedile to here now as Quaestor. I’ve got to see many of the House’s roster join and grow into their own memberhood of our little asteroid family, and it was a pleasure doing what I could to help promote that. Your enthusiasm, enjoyment, and plain pleasantness has been the highlight of my commitment to Qel-Droma.
While I love the job, real life has become more demanding of my attention as of late. Other than work and homelife, my mental health has been quite down. Normally, I would never consider sharing as such, but being made aware recently that it’s Mental Health Awareness month I’ve come to realize it’s important to discuss. So, obligatory care message. Always take care of yourselves first and foremost. Carve out some time for ourselves every now and again, even if it’s just for a moment. That’s what we have the DJB for isn’t it? Talk to friends, family, share with one another. You are all always welcome to talk to me, my door will remain open, and the same goes to many Arconans. We are family, ohana, by the way and family means nobody gets left behind. <3
Now that I’ve done my public service spiel, let’s get onto what comes next. Obviously we don’t want to leave poor Lucine handling all of this madhouse, so we’re gonna get you all a new Quaestor, mkay? Terran has sent out a call for applications. If any of you are interested or know of folks who may be looking for a similar position, you can get more information here. Applications are due on May 18th. So go forth and apply!
The Docks Port Ol’val 36 ABY
Leeadra Halcyon wrapped her cloak tightly around herself as she hurried through the near deserted streets of Port Ol'val. Many of the lamps that were suspended overhead were broken; the few that remained cast only the faintest illumination. However, there was enough light that she could see the evidence of the battles that had taken place months before. Most of the buildings were in varying stages of disrepair, and still bore scorch marks from bombs or blaster fire. She noted with some concern that some of the marks appeared relatively new. The darkness, signs of violence and the oppressive silence created a feeling of unease within the Pantoran which caused her to hasten her steps as she searched for her destination.
She slowed her steps as she arrived at a rundown warehouse. She could not see any light shining between the boards that covered the windows, or any other indication that there was anyone in there. She briefly considered pulling out her datapad to double check the address, but quickly decided against it. Instead, she crossed the street and rapped sharply on the door.
At first, silence was her only answer. Just as she was about to turn away, a narrow slot slid open to reveal a pair of small eyes glaring down at her. The panel slid shut before she could say anything. The door opened to reveal a Besalisk towering over her, his bulky frame filling the doorway. He glared down at her through tiny, yellow eyes before grunting “What’ya want?”

Lucine, Leeadra, and I are all pleased to present to you with this next installment of House Qel-Droma action! A Shadow Port in Shambles features what happens when House Qel-Droma finally focuses their attention on the asteroid they call home. Much of Ol’val still lays in rumble after the destruction from Whallata the Hutt, with the air filthy to breath and basic supplies are short. While we were busy with war, the collective, and troubles back on Selen, the occupants of the port have resorted to the only solutions they know; every sentient for themselves. So without further ado, go forth and help build our story!

We welcome a slew of new joins this past month thanks to the recruiting efforts of our Social Media Tribune, as well as some fellow members netting their unaware-of-what-they’re-getting-into friends! Let’s join our hands together to welcome:
Hello, darlings! I want to start by extending a big welcome to all of our newcomers. And to those who have been here awhile, welcome back!
One of the great things about the DB is the wide range of activities that one can participate in. Between the competitions, the Shadow Academy courses and developing your character, there is quite a bit available to keep a person busy.
The biggest piece of advice that I can give, to newcomers and old hands alike, is to try everything. Not only does it help you to get a feel for the aspects of the club that you enjoy, but it also provides a wonderful avenue to meet people that you would not ordinarily interact with. It can also give you the opportunity to improve upon certain skills, such as writing or art.
I joined the preliminary tournament for the ACC because I wanted to improve on my combat writing. It was one of the areas of my prose that I knew I needed to work on, and I figured that my competitive nature would force me to see the event through to the end. I quickly discovered that I enjoyed competing in the ACC, and am now hopelessly addicted. Sadly, my combat writing has yet to improve because I happen to be running a non-combat character, but that is a story for another day.
If you want to get more involved in the club, but are not sure where to start, then ask more veteran members of the club. I am sure they will be happy to point you in the direction of the activities they enjoy the most. Events, such as the recent ARC-COU event and the upcoming Sins of the Past event will also help point you in the direction of what interests you. Alternatively, if you are interested in dipping your toe in the ACC, be sure to check out the Coach’s Corner event that will be starting on May 25th.
Ultimately, we’re here to have fun, and sometimes you do not know if you will enjoy something until you try it. As I always say: “Try anything once, twice if you like it and three times if you don’t.”
That’s it for me. Until next time, darlings!

I don’t have much more to say that hasn’t already been said. Keep up the great work, Qel-Dromans. Keep exploring and learning what you enjoy. Talk with each other, build together the story your characters live in. Have fun. I’m proud of every single one of you and look forward to seeing where you all go from here. This goes for members new to us as well. It’s been a blast HQD, and it’s definitely won’t be the last. Until then, folks.
