A Message from the Quaestor

Hello, darlings! So, as I am certain you have all heard, we are now First Clan! Huzzah! This is due to all of your hard work. Well done, all of you! When it mattered most, y’all pulled together and got it done. Words cannot describe how proud I am of all of the effort that you have shown! I also wanted to extend additional kudos to Aru Law and Alaisy Tir’eivra in particular, who achieved 100% participation!

One of the big perks of winning the war is shinies, and bonus credits. That’s right, we get fictional money for doing the thing! In this case, the Shadow Sloth has graciously offered a 5 million credit bonus, per house. And so we are going shopping, in grand style!

Unfortunately, Port Ol’val has a bit of a history when it comes to being invaded and otherwise infiltrated. To improve upon that (and to force the story-writers to get a bit more creative when planning house fiction events), we are implementing security measures. Ships. Lots and lots of ships to help us defend our asteroid home.

To tie into that, we are starting up a House event to justify where these ships are coming from. So, go do the thing while I go on a shipping shopping spree!

A Message from the Aedile

Hallo my lektastic friends! Did you happen to notice that we WON THE WAR?! UNBELIEVABLE!

Erm, I mean, we totally knew we’d win. Yes. Total faith in all of you… cough

Aaanyway and jokes aside, I could not be more proud of y’all and our performance in the War. We kicked ass, took names, chewed metric butt-tons of bubblegum, and looked great doing it! Precisely how House Qel-Droma rolls!

I must admit that after the last comp deadlines finally closed, I was a very tired lek, but between then and now, there’s been enough time to get some new energy in these head-tails and we’re boldly moving forward with our House storyline. No rest for the wicked and all that. Hope to see as many of you taking place in these light-hearted comps centered around our most favorite of activities; taking stuff that wasn’t ours from people we hardly know!

I’ve also been led to believe there may be a wedding celebration going on, mayhaps I’ll need to drop by. Hmm, I’d better ask Yumni about the Bridal Registry...

House Fiction Update

The Abeona stalled her engines and powered down her weapons in a show of submission. From the bridge of the Voidbreaker, Captain Emere Galo gave a quiet sigh of relief. The crew of the battered G9 Rigger-class Light Freighter had put up a significant fight, much more than anyone had expected. Still, the Voidbreaker's superior firepower and maneuverability had won the day. Their prize would be whatever cargo The Abeona was carrying.

"Have the away team ready to board, but keep the weapons on standby," Emere ordered. She clasped her hands behind her back as she regarded the relatively still merchant vessel with a pensive look. She didn't like the idea of sending an away team to board the vessel, but it was necessary to secure the cargo. She simply had to hope that the team would be able to handle it if the crew of The Abeona got feisty.

Arcona News

• As the Shadow Sloth announced in his report, he will be stepping down shortly. There is no word yet from the DC as to who his successor will be yet, so we continue to wait with baited breath! In the meantime, be sure to read Kordath’s report to check out the latest fiction update and other enlightening musings from our favorite Ryn!

• Our very own Alaisy has been named the Second Hero of the war, and also Arcona clan champion! Well done, Shiny-Sith!

• Speaking of awesome things, Kordath has been awarded the title of Elder, which you can read about here. This is no small feat and is worthy of all the praise! Well done, Shadow Sloth!

• HYPE!!!! That’s right, all aboard the hype train, because HQD is starting a new event! A Little Casual Piracy will be starting 10/07. So be sure to check it out, and of course, DO ALL THE THINGS!

DB Wide Updates

• The War Finale and the Voice’s final report are up! THis fiction features all 41 of the members who achieved 100% bin participation in the war. This is no small feat! Be sure to give it a read! And if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the final results from the war, to see overall clan placements, and heroes! Finally, be sure to leave feedback regarding the war via this lovely survey.

  • How goes the investigation? Any closer to figuring out who nearly killed the Shadow Lord?
    • Tali: "After diligent research be can conclude that vhoever it has vill be huntedt down andt brought to justice. Possibly in one piece, most likely several."
    • Lucine: “I am afraid I am not at liberty to discuss the full details of the investigation, darling. However, I can say that it is going as expected.”
  • How's that new contract with Kord and the Skitters going? Any good content coming from it?
    • Tali: "Vhat contract? V-vhy are my vents glowing?!"
    • Lucine: “Oh yes, darling. As you can see, I am meeting my quota and numbers across the board are up.”
  • How's the Lek coping with life, after the baby, thinking she nearly got Kord killed, all that, how's she dealing?
    • Tali: thousand yard lek
  • How's the office dynamic between you two? Lots of late nights, working on tedious paperwork? Does Tali get annoyed when Lucine calls in Chiss (singular or plural) to distract herself?
    • Tali: "Contrary to her public showing, Lucine is actually very amenable to playing a supporting, sometimes even subservient role behind closedt doors. This has brought some variety into the usual routine andt openedt many new avenues of close partnership."
    • Lucine: “Yes, we have been working quite closely together. Lots of late nights. Thanks to the fact that we are both flexible, we are not working like a well lubricated machine.”

• The Cranky Captain (Jazzy) has a few questions!

  • How are Lucine and Tali holding up after the war? How do they feel about the state of Brotherhood relations with the other factions?
    • Tali: "Vell, kark. At least ve hadt no misbehaving turbolifts…"
    • Lucine: “I have returned to Port Ol’val to find the paperwork has piled up, and there are pirates raiding our people. I am not pleased.”
  • Do either of the House ladies have hobbies they indulge in to pass the time?
    • Tali: "I have been neglecting my knitting. I make excellent lekwarmers, so soft andt comfy!"
    • Lucine: “I enjoy reading and spending time in intense... conversation with a few intimate companions”
  • So... HQD got 5 million credits from war spoils... are we getting anything shiny?
    • Tali: looks at Lucine browsing the catalogues, and hands her the one with war materiel over the evening wear one "Yes."
    • Lucine: (hums and browses the catalogue) “Yes.”
  • How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
    • Tali: "A voodtchuck vouldt chuck all the voodt it couldt chuck. If a voodtchuck couldt chuck voodt."
    • Lucine: “I am afraid I am not familiar with the habits of woodland vermin. All of it, perhaps?”

• The Shiny Sith (Alaisy) asked a few as well!

  • Did the GJW change any of your outlooks on Qel-Droman life?
    • Tali: "Nope! Still screwedt! Erm, I mean, ve're fine! This is fine! waits for the inevitable fire alarm
    • Lucine: “Not really, darling. I was already fully aware of the fact that HQD is awesome.”
  • With a relatively positive outcome in regards to our relationship with The Severian Principate, are there any plans to capitalize on that? Perhaps diplomacy, trade and an intelligence exchange?
    • Tali: "Umm, vell… oh, vhats this?" Reads handed note "The Arconan Logistics and Shipping Company welcomes all new trading partners for mutually beneficial exchanges. Qel-Droman foreign policy should align with these objectives. Signed, Yumni Ha."
    • Lucine: OOC: Yes, we do intend to integrate the SP in future storylines!
  • How's Tali holding up?
    • Tali: suspiration and plucky smile
  • So Kord's alive and well, aren't you just ecstatic Lucine? We all knew he'd be alright.
    • Lucine: “Yes, positively ecstatic. You have no idea how positively pleased I am that the Consul is alive. Thrilled, simply thrilled.

• Q asks: How many licks would a licked lek like, if a licked lek did like licks?

  • Tali: … "yes"
  • Lucine: “This might have to be a question for the ages.”

• The Space Ferret (Eilen) asked a few as well!

  • Um... uhh...?
    • Tali: Errm

  • Oh! Do we get paid vacation days?
    • Tali: "Ve get vacation days?*"
    • Lucine: “Are you considering a vacation already, darling? But we just took a vacation to the Lyra-3k-a system!”
  • So uh... Any advice on, um... maybe, like, spicing up a wardrobe? Or, uh, a makeover, or something? Specifically for, you know... furry people. Totally asking for a friend, eheh...
    • Tali: "Oh yes! I shall bring CR-3PO along andt ve can make a day of it! (Said day will be excluded from your vacation time)"
    • Lucine: “I am certain that we can set up a private consultation to find something that would look simply fabulous on you!”
  • On a more serious note, got any plans in progress for the next big thing for our house - namely anything you're allowed to share?
    • Tali: dons the eye patch and the peglek "Y'arrr!"
    • Lucine: OOC: See above! We have a House event starting on 10/07!

• The The Not So Good Doctor asks:

  • What are you most excited for in the coming days?
    • Tali: "Resting on our laurels and growing complacent? No, no, that vasn't it. That vas my retirement plan… uhh, it's here somewhere… Ah-ha! Big Fat Arconan Wedding!" OOC: New leadership (especially Voice and Arconan Consul), HQD comps and advancing our House storyline. Oh, and spending our war booty!
    • Lucine: “The fall fashion season, and the date I have this coming Friday.” OOC: I am excited to see what new directions the club will be taking given the fresh leadership coming on board, both on the club and clan level.
  • What does Arcona reclaiming 1st Clan mean to you?
    • Tali: OOC: That y'all did great, and that you hopefully enjoy being part of this crazy community.
    • Lucine: OCC: It is a sign that our people are enthusiastic and play well with others.
  • There is always room for growth. In what ways do you think you yourselves need to grow? What about the House? Clan?
    • Tali: Personally, I'd love to kick this procrastination bug that has me completing comps at or near deadline. Can't go motivating others if I haven't done the things myself, yeah? On the House level, I'd want to see a storyline that's "us", something that you all can engage with and feel a part of. Personal stakes and all that. I know we measure things by comp submissions, so I'd love to have those House submissions really mean something. Write our shared story! Clan level, much the same. Engage in dialogue and provide what you majestic sausages want to experience out of this club!
    • Lucine: As a person, I am constantly working on self improvement. As a member, I feel like I could be more consistent in doing more competitions, particularly fiction competitions. As a House, I would love to see more people consistently doing competitions and being engaged on the clan and club level. It is something I want to work toward inspiring.

In Closing…

As you might have gathered from this report, there is a lot of excitement about becoming First Clan. It is a great accomplishment within the club, and it could not have been done without you. So, to all of you that showed up, did comps, participated and tried to do as many of the things that you could, great job! It is because we all pulled together as a clan that we were able to pull this off. Ya’ll did good, and I am super proud of you. Well done!
