Castle Tarentum
Samael’s Quarters
The Krath tapped his fingers against his desk, his eyes studying the various spiders of differing sizes that navigated the vast network of webs that were on his ceiling. Their numbers were vast, akin to the sightings of the Aptrgangr that had been flowing in. The Aptrgangr, specimens of Tarentum’s past that Samael never got the chance to study or examine. He wanted that chance, but wanted to be cautious in case it was some kind of trap.
Samael pressed a button and the digital image of a female popped up on his desk. Her lips had been split open, appearing to be placed in a permanent grin. Her eyes had been dug out and sewn shut, and when her form wasn’t fading in and out, clear incisions on her chest could be seen.
“Hello darling.” said Samael gently, “Has there been any word from our scouts?”
“None yet, dear.” said the computer, her voice slithering with blood she had been programmed to choke on, “But I have not received any distress signals, perhaps it is just taking longer than anticipated.”
The Krath took his finger and crushed the image, the computer powering down as he did so. He stretched his arms as he leaned back in his chair, rapidly throwing himself forward and using the momentum to help himself out of it. The Umbaran scratched his bald head and then ran his fingers through his beard, bits of dried blood from one of his victims matting it slightly. He began his evening walk around the Castle, hoping that by the time it was over he would know more about the Corsair complex, the area of which had been spawning numerous sightings.
He slowly made his way down the hall, the darkness swirling inside it due to the vacant rooms that infected the area around Samael’s quarters. The Umbaran appeared like an apparition from the shadows when he pierced the veil of light that swarmed the elevators. He pressed the button that would bring him upwards to the kitchens, hoping his thirst for blood might be sated instead by some kind of food. The moment he stepped onto the elevator, however, his comm unit began to chirp.
“What?” said Samael annoyed.
“The scouts have returned, but you aren’t going to like it.” said the soft silky voice of his computer.
“No Aptrgangr, I take it?”
“Just corpses and memories.”
Samael crushed the comm unit and went back to his room, anger giving rise to new ideas. The monsters of Tarentum’s past seemed to be out of his grasp, and so instead he settled for a different path to his goal.
“Pel, this is Samael. I need you and Sith Bloodfyre to meet me as soon as you can. Bring your apprentice with you.” said the Umbaran into another comm unit he had on his desk.
The voice of the Sith Battlelord Pel scratched into the air with an affirmative, and Samael went about contacting the other members of the cabal that would bring about the plans that would see Tarentum powerful once more.
My name is Samael Ozriel, and this is the first report for Battle Team Inmortuae. It will also be my 6th report (One report for each year I’ve held a position in the Brotherhood! Who wants to see if I can keep up that quota?) I’m not great at introductions, so forgive me if this seems awkward.
I’ve held numerous positions in my time here and am very excited to see what we can do. This will be the first time I’ve helped build a House/Battle Team from the ground up, but I’ve been a Battle Team Leader, an Aedile, and a Rollmaster so I hope my experience will aid in making the process of setting up Inmortuae not too difficult.
I’m a firm believer in the notion that this club is supposed to be fun and remain fun. When I was younger, I would only do things if I viewed them as fun or interesting and would leave when things became not fun or interesting. I’ve shed the last part of that dynamic, but am still a firm believer in people should be having fun here. So, with that in mind, let’s lay down some ground rules (Because in the words of Monica Geller, rules are good, rules help control the fun)
If you can do something, and it tickles your fancy, please do it. Even if you’re just lingering on Telegram or IRC, or stalking the mailing lists, or playing Diablo 3, if you’re having fun and interacting with us, I’m happy.
Treat others like you want to be treated. I know this is a no brainer, and Tarentum is full of friends, but I wanted to make sure.
If you think you have an idea that might be cool, let us hear it. Inmortuae will be made by the members for the members, so if you guys want to do something then the only way we can do that is if you let me know.
Stay in touch
Those are the rules for being in Inmortuae. Simple and straight forward, eh?
From what we saw in the report fiction, Samael (My Character) is trying to learn about Tarentum’s past and the things they’ve done, but is robbed the chance of studying some of the creatures that we used to play with. Because of this, he decides to call on the founding members of Inmortuae to try and restore Tarentum’s old practices.
Because of this desire, Inmortuae will become exiled not too shortly after this fiction takes place. We will be exiled to Yridia III and discover creatures called the Krouh. They’ll be a group of subhuman beings whose origins remain a mystery to us at first. Through our dealings with them, we learn their mythology which starts out with a giant spider crawling out from the darkness and laying her eggs. From them, came forth their gods. Each god looked different, each wielding a strange baton that glowed with light. They had mystical powers and could do many great things, and when their mother was dying, they used her webs to cocoon her body within it. From her, sprang the planet the Krouh people inhabit. As homage to her, the Gods of the Krouh people would watch over them and one day join the Krouh people and lead them to glory.
They believe us to be those Gods. They mistake the Force for magic, and in their worship offer us sacrifices and willing participants for experiments. We, as their Gods, use their offerings to further our understanding of Necromancy. We, as their Gods, use them to further our understanding of our own powers. They call their Gods the Inmortuae, in their language it means the Undying Greats. Samael is seen as their God of Mischief and Knowledge, and he uses this role to better increase their devotion to the Battle Team. From here, we can go numerous directions but it is the memberships choice on where we go.
If you wish to join Inmortuae, please email Raiju and Farrin (with me CC’d) expressing your interest.
Battle Team Leader: Samael Ozriel
Official Members
If you have expressed interest, and don’t find your name on here, please bring it to my attention as soon as possible and I will remedy that.
That’s all for now folks. Reports in the future will have membership spotlight and competitions that are running, this one was more for recruitment and getting our ball rolling. Oh, and if anyone wants to make me Report graphics, that'd be cool.
Thanks for reading!
