Greetings Knights, fellow Jedi and on-lookers from the Dark Side (Hi Dru!).
It’s report time! There’s so much going on I almost couldn’t wait (seriously). Without further ado, here is what’s going on in the Brotherhood:
Tarentum is looking for an Aedile and a Rollmaster. This is a great opportunity to step up and join the summit of a developing House. (Details Here)
The Shadow Academy is looking for a Professor and a Docent. The Professor position is for the newly created Department of Communication Studies. The Docent position is for the new Leadership:Proposals course. These are great opportunities to get on the ground floor of some great departments and join Solari, Sang and myself on the Shadow Academy faculty (There’s a super-secret teacher’s lounge and everything! (Details in Dacien’s Report)
Speaking of the Shadow Academy, let me put my professor robes on for a moment to recap some SA news:
I was actually thinking of launching another Shadow Academy competition in the near future but Sight beat me to the punch with his brotherhood wide competition, Assault on the Shadow Academy . The competition works similar to the Wisdom of the Jedi one I did not too long ago, get points for courses and degrees you complete. There are 3rd level crescents up for grabs and that will likely get upgraded based on the number of people participating. I’d love to see an HOU sweep of the top 3 so crack those books! Also this is one of the few competitions where you win simply by competing. All the courses you complete are part of your permanent dossier. Sight may have left to join the dark side but once an Odanite, always an Odanite, so let’s see a strong HOU showing for his comp.
The Shadow Academy has launched a brand new Department of Leadership Studies which currently has outstanding courses on proposals, reports and awards/promotions. These are invaluable for any current or future leaders. I plan on knocking them out to sharpen my skills, even though an actual award recommendation I wrote ended up in the course materials ;)
The Department of Combat Studies is currently undergoing an audit so stay tuned for re-tooled courses and spoiler alert a new course soonish™. Also, I know a lot of you don’t have your Mavens in Combat so, shameless plug, drop by and take some of my courses. I’d love to see more Odanite exams cross my desk.
In case you missed the latest Fist Report, new dossier accessories have been added for those who make Fourth Echelon Guardsmen for each quarter. How does one get on the GMRG fourth echelon you ask? Each quarter the top ten Cluster of Fire earners ranked above GRMG X are ranked in the fourth echelon and fictionally assigned a Dark Council member to guard. GMRG X is a challenging threshold to reach, but the race to be the first lightie on the fourth echelon is on. Edgar and I are both willing to game with anyone in almost any Brotherhood platform. Just hit us up on the mailing list, IRC or whatever.
There’s a perfect opportunity to rack up CFs and win a Pendant of Blood this weekend for GMRG members. This weekend is July’s Gorefest and that means double CFs.
Ok, this is old news by now but have you checked out the new forum system, Discourse? If you haven’t you should. I didn’t really touch it until I set up the KoA run-on. It’s actually really slick (and Riverche didn’t pay me to say that). In fact I’d love to use the Discourse option for comments section of this post, but apparently BTL reports aren't important enough to use Discourse. Maybe somebody could change that ;)
I’m proud to announce the launch of the Knights of Allusis Mission Files continuous run-on. Each month the Knights will receive a new mission for the on-going run-on. Each month will also be it’s own self-contained sub-competition where Crescents and Clusters of Ice will be awarded. CIs will be awarded per the Voice guidelines. This month’s mission is “Wargames”, which is a massive force on force military exercise with the Knights and K.U.D.F. This month’s run-on is open to anyone who wants to participate, details in the run-on thread.
This is a great opportunity to shake the run-on rust off, have some fun, develop your characters and create a great story. So get out there and start posting!
There is a lot going on in the Competition front. There’s a healthy variety of things to do, so find what tickles your fancy and grab some shinies.
Such is Life – This month’s featured competition is by KoA’s very own Lu’aisha Gresee. Write a 500 word or above fiction on your character facing execution. Third level crescents and clusters of ice up for grabs. Come out and support one of our very talented journeymen, develop your character and grab some nice shinies in the process.
DJB Fantasy Football League – A Brotherhood wide Fantasy Football league ran by KoA’s very own Edgar Drachen. Can your office fantasy football league give you second level crescents? I don’t think so. Act now because as of the writing of this report the league only has two slots left.
Attention Architects! Now accepting bids for Olympic Complex! – Design the stadium for the Ooroo olympics. Extended by popular demand.
Life Day in July – A quick and easy flash game comp by HOU’s own Kaayn Salis. Stay cool and drop a submission for this Christmas themed comp.
[StO] Operation: Cloak – The mother competition for our sister battle team. This has fiction, wiki and graphics sub-comps.
[Baas] Return to Sender - Timed puzzle competition from our sister battle team.
[Baas] Honeyed Words – A fiction competition where your character is sent to negotiate with the Geonosian colony on New Tython. Diplomacy FTW!
I’m climbing on to my monthly soap box to discuss branching out and engaging with the larger Brotherhood. HOU is a great place (HOU HYPE!!) but there’s also a lot of great things going on Brotherhood wide and in other units. You’ll never know what you can learn, the great things you can do or who you can meet unless you venture outside of our little light side corner of the world.
There’s a strong temptation toward insular thinking, especially being the only light side unit in the Brotherhood. Pride in one’s unit is great, but at the end of the day we are all here for the same reason. Also, it’s somewhat foolish to assume that your unit is the only one with talented members and good ideas. I’ve learned quite a bit and met some really cool people hanging around the Shadow Academy staff and other units. Heck, I’ve all but been adopted by Arcona.
The whole Dark Side / Light Side dynamic is fun for fiction, but it can turn into real life hostile attitudes at times for various reasons. That’s tragic. Some people don’t agree with the whole concept of HOU, others come to HOU with baggage from less than pleasant experiences in other units. I get that. In neither situation is the answer to bunker down and foster hostile feelings toward our Dark Side brethren. If that’s you, you aren’t helping. If someone talks smack about you being a “dirty lightie,” prove them wrong. Be cool. Beat them at some friendly competition.
So what is the answer? Get out there, join a Brotherhood wide project, apply for Dark Council assistant positions, hang out in areas frequented by other units. Make some new friends or reconnect with old friends in other units. This is a Brotherhood, and that transcends any silly fictional labels we place on ourselves. It’s time to act like it.
Drops the mic
Once again, the Knights are heating up the summer with lots of Clusters of Fire and other shinies. Keep it up!

This month I decided to feature some recent lulz from the Odan-Urr Google group regarding our very own Quaestor, Liam Torun. (All ‘facts’ are from Gon Doru)
- He always finds the droids his is looking for.
- He can bulls eye a womp rat; from orbit.
- If he cuts off your hand in battle you have to fight the urge to thank him.
- He doesn't always play pazaak, but when he does his hand is valued higher than a pure pazaak
