The small spaceport was in flames, the efforts on Florrum had cost the Clan dearly. Zoso looked at the mayhem as the combined forces of Plagueis and the swoop gang descended on her comrades and friends.
Only a second to make the choice. Only a moment in time to begin the evacuation. Only a breath…
The Mirialan reached out and grabbed the jacket of the Hoth Aedile, Edgar Drachen, and spun him to face her. “Get them out of here!” She screamed, her tone clearly stating there was to be no discussion. “I will buy you what time I can!”
She jerked the Human behind her with enough force that he backpedaled a few steps, his eyes distant. “Qui-”
The Lieutenant Colonel picked up a large blaster rifle, her voice flat and emotionless. “Go, Ed. Your Clan needs you and everyone else you can save.”
The man stared at her for only a moment before he nodded once and saluted the war veteran that had given much to her people, watched her home burned to ash, watched her friends die on this miserable rock. A woman that now stood ready to give everything left. Zoso looked over her shoulder and nodded with a smile to the man she considered her friend. “Keep them safe.”

It’s the moment we have all waited for, the unveiling of where we will be settling moving forward after leaving New Tython behind us. With the closing of a novel, this will mark our sequel—and I promise, it will be better than the last. Pravus set this in motion after we agreed to a new beginning; a fresh start to bring us closer to something that a lot of us have asked for. Until now, we have made do with a single planet that was given to us in the founding of House Odan-Urr. Since then, we have outgrown it, the Houses wanting somewhere to settle on their own. We have found challenges in the reasoning behind our location, which Pravus asked us with a hard question—why would the Grand Master not assault the Jedi, if he knew of their coordinates? This is something we have asked ourselves, and this is the reason we are now within a secure system, outside of the Esstran Sector—more on that later.
For additional questions, I recommend reading my previous report, first. It covers all the reasons as to our choices leading to this new direction for clarification. Of course, there might be some left unanswered, so feel free to ask myself or Turel about lingering comments or questions we haven’t gotten around to. Note that we do have a clearer understanding now of some of the answers in the linked report, so some of its contents might be outdated.
Before going too far into this, I recommend taking a look at the fiction that marked our new beginning. It can be found here.
Before it’s asked, Kiast is both the name of a system and the capital world. We’ll be building onto it as time goes on, but we felt it was time to release what we have into the wild. Our previous world allowed members to add lore as they saw fit, creating locations, creatures and stories that suited them. I intend for this to continue, and for us to work together to shape not just a world, but an entire solar system. In the past, we have done this to great success with the brilliance of members like Korroth, who I recall wrote a lot of Odan-Urr’s initial lore, back before most can recall. However, this isn’t about changes that occurred so long ago (which I still thank our members for putting the time into,) but looking into the future.
So, what are those two “unknown” planets?
The long and the short, is that we will be rolling out the system in stages. Due to the fact that the decision was made so fast and things were needed to be kept under wraps (secret and exclusive) for a while meant that our Houses lacked some vital information for building their own worlds for a time. Obviously, we wouldn’t want to rush unfinished developments out the gates, nor do we want to leave ourselves stranded again in space (as those who survived the Dark Crusades can attest to.) Therefore, we will be allowing the Houses time to finish their foundations before having them release their worlds. I have seen some of the ideas presented, so rest assured that we will have one of the—if not the—most diverse, most interesting, most awesome solar system in the club.
Buckle down, because there’s a lot of content to cover. Besides reading this all in a news post, feel free to check out the wiki for our new articles. At the time of this writing, V'yr has readied the articles and made arrangements to move our existing stuff into the Historic Odan-Urr Articles category, which encompasses all of our articles that are now left behind. Wherever it makes sense, we can see about pulling more information out of the historic section. However, this will be a case-by-case occurrence that will need to be approved; please ask us before moving things from the historic articles.
As above, we know that Kiast is a terrestrial planet in the Nilgaard sector of the Outer Rim territories. However, unlike the other terrestrial worlds that we have seen in the club, our’s is uninhabitable on the surface. It ellipses around a binary star, which causes strain on the tectonics. Shortening the scientific nonsense (there’s a wiki for that,) it excretes toxic gases that settle to the bottom as the surface crumbles under the gravitic strain. Lighter gases rise above the toxic atmosphere to allow for a breathable band of atmosphere (similar to Bespin) that sustains life above the clouds. Those same tectonic movements cause a number of isolated plateaus, mountainous ridges and small land masses to rise above the toxic gases that can be settled on.
The current inhabitants are known as the Vatali Empire, and are far more peaceful than the name would suggest. A subspecies of Sephi rule over the entire system from this world, and have created highborne skyhooks and floating platforms on which to build their cities. Travel between all of these habitable regions in the high altitude requires either a small spacecraft, or airship; the latter being ideal due to the lack of effort and resources needed to sustain flight in the light upper atmosphere.
What is the Vatali Empire, and how are we involved?
As it stands, we no longer have a hand in governing our system. The Vatali Empire have managed to govern the entire system centuries before we arrived, and have created their own peaceful set of laws without our intervention. Also, we will no longer concern ourselves with utilizing a system’s military against the Brotherhood, leaving planets vulnerable without defenses. Because attack from the Brotherhood will never occur in Kiast, the Vatali have their own militaries and defenses to defend themselves from outside threats. These will not be used against the Brotherhood, as we will have our own military separate from the system’s forces.
In canonical terms, think of the Vatali as a New Republic world with its own militia and us as the Resistance, with our own resources.
Instead, us and our forces will assist the Vatali as peacekeepers, both inside and outside of the Kiast system. Pirates are an ongoing issue for the Vatali, able to hide and strike from the asteroid fields before the Vatali’s might can react. In exchange for offering our added protection and extended reach to the Vatali Empire, we are able to settle in the system as “guests” under the Vatali rule. As you might have noticed in the update, we have erased the navigation charts from the First Order’s databanks, which allows us to negotiate for a far more permanent affiliation with the Vatali. Future stories will involve additional missions of peace for the Vatali while we fight to drive back the darkness of the Brotherhood.

Who is the monarch?
Empress Kaltani Anasaye is the current ruler of the Kiast System (pictured in the collage above.) Latest in the line of succession, she is a member of the Sephi royal bloodline and holds control over the Vatali navy, along with its forces. Unlike the Empire that we all know from the Star Wars films and books, she is a peaceful ruler that will not force us to do things against the Jedi Code (The royal house of Naboo is a good comparison.)
What started the idea?
I worked with Turel and V'yr on the main planet ever since our previous one was razed. Pitching the idea to them at the start (in part, due to a newfound respect for certain genres) allowed us to take off on a fresh approach in the creation of a new world. We had one rule to start with: Being unique. Nothing the Brotherhood has ever written until this point has ever included a world similar to this one, based on the cutting-edge of new canon. In fact, it would have required one to have begun anew when we did. Inspired by the new comics, Obi-wan & Anakin, I wanted to have something done in the same vein as Carnelion IV, a terrestrial world with an uninhabitable surface. At that time, I only had access to the first issue as the rest hadn’t been released. For those who haven’t seen the comics—be warned.
Spoilers ahead!
Even though I have purchased the latest comics, I haven’t had time to go through them all, so there might be things I wouldn’t know about the Obi-wan & Anakin arc. In broad strokes, Carnelion IV is a planet with an uninhabitable surface. Toxic gases have formed what is known as the Celadon Sea that makes lower altitudes dangerous for most species. To survive, the remaining inhabitants live on areas above the toxic band of atmosphere: mountainous peaks jutting above the Celadon Sea and on the decks of airships. Our similarities end there, diverging with inspirations from other mediums to avoid cloning a canonical world. Where the Obi-wan & Anakin plot used two factions of nomads called the “Open” and “Closed,” we instead chose to use something far more concrete that can thrive on its own, and has flourished for centuries; thus, the Vatali Empire was born. Our monarch (or rather, the Vatali Empire’s) is a “princess of Mars” kind of character that is able to rule in a manner that the Jedi Code has no issues with.
Three articles have been cleaned for authoring on the wiki, with another several to come. However, with your assistance, we can make the dream of having a massive stockpile of quality articles a reality. Note that all of these are living documents, and will be edited through the coming months to offer better, more detailed information with improved formatting.
Yes! As a matter of fact, Turel has updated the Odan-Urr Project Volunteer Form and Odan-Urr Summit Feedback Form with our current needs. Whether you would like to take a direct approach in volunteer work, or letting us know about concerns, please do take the time to look at these forms.
Rather than re-using the feud results here, I would like to extend a mention to Mav’s results news post. As another honourable mention, I would like to congratulate Plagueis on a decisive victory in the event. It was a close one, and we ended up learning a lot during the planning and execution of the event. Of our own members, Seridan and Tekk Parsa took first and second individual placements in the feud—if that isn’t an indication of how close the final results were, I don’t know what is.
There were lessons to be learned on both sides, and while I can’t speak for those Plagueis learned, Turel summarized our lessons learned as well as I might expect. That is to say, his assessment is accurate to what I discovered throughout the event, as well.
CM Report - One of the reports I’ve been looking forward to (Venues!) Seriously, have a read.
Gaming Update - Updates on PVO caps and the GM Gaming Tournament. Cheer on Edgar and Korroth!
Esca has been selected as the new Hoth QUA
I would also like to thank Turel for his services so far as Proconsul. Honestly, I could not have hoped for a better assistant with something as daunting as managing an entire Clan—especially during such a time of change as this. To commemorate his service thus far, he has been awarded a long and well-deserved set of recommendations for an elevation to Vanguard. You can read the recommendations here.
Gresee has, for a time time, been one of our most prominent members in our MAA email digests for awards and clusters. The “Pazaak Queen” has even earned herself a Steel Cross for her service and continuing frontline presence. I place great value in her abilities as a member to drive up our participation in events single-handedly and look forward to what she can contribute as we move forward.
Taking on the vacant role, Len Iode will now be serving as the Battle Team Leader of the Disciples of Baas.
Nathan’s seen Odan-Urr at its best and worst. He’s one of its founding members, and has stuck with us ever since.Throughout his career, I have seen him fill whatever roles were needed—Quaestor, Rollmaster, Battle Team Leader—regardless of how “rewarding” it would be on a personal level. Six months ago, his leadership and constant presence resulted in a Sapphire Blade and a Clan title to go with it. As with most good leaders who leave the shoes of a position to fill, Nathan had less time available for the position as time went on; speaking from experience, it happens to the best of us. However, I will look forward to working with him in the future when Odan-Urr needs him most.
Taking on the vacant role, Arcia Cortel will now be serving as the Quaestor of House Hoth.
The Kiast System is revealed!

Alishu from Plagueis here. Very nice fiction~ It's interesting to see Odan-Urr's perspective on Florrum
So what you're telling me is, once all this blows over, I get to sleepover in space sky castles?
Boss.
Much excitement, COU! Can't wait to watch y'all develop.
This is pretty awesome. Glad to have moved over in such an awesome time.
Great report, many fun things to come, excellent report fic
Great stuff! This is a very exciting time to be in the Clan, I can't wait to see our new fictional home develop and flourish!
I...I like it. This is amazing and brilliant and everything loved about the Jedi. And you added airships and skyhooks? Damn.
Awesome!
Lexic:
University gave me an addiction to some variants of the steampunk genre, so airships were inevitable. Be prepared to see other outlandish things in the near future from the new canon. Gliders, among them.
