Even if you have been living under a rock, I’m sure that all of you have heard that Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens premieres on December 18th—just a week from now! This means that our Clan will be undergoing significant changes with the Brotherhood once our Summit has found the time (or tickets) to see the new film. We’ll still be maintaining New Tython as our homeworld, but moving forward might allow us to explore new avenues that we wouldn’t have found otherwise.

Also, regardless of which celebration you’re partaking in (I know we’re Jedi, but it’s Sithmas. Get with it,) celebrate it with family or find a friend to share a dinner with. While the new movie can be exciting, remember to enjoy the holidays while it lasts. I’ll be moving back home for a month and packing up the computer to bring along, so while there might be some downtime while I get it setup, I will be available over most of the transition between semesters.

Turel’s Soapbox - Your clan needs you!

With the first new Star Wars film in a decade coming out in a matter of days this presents us and you with some very unique opportunities. The first is for recruitment. Star Wars fever is everywhere, you can’t walk into a store or turn on an electronic device it seems without something Star Wars popping up.

That means you are literally surrounded by potential recruits in your everyday life and it’s actually hip to talk about Star Wars. Now I’m not saying throw on a Jedi robe and stand in Central Park doing public readings of your novae winning fictions. But that guy in your dorm who’s really into Battlefront or that co-worker who always tries to get you to read her DovahkinxDragon fan fictions (future Shadow Lady material right there :P) are prime targets for recruiting. The Recruitment Tribune and the Seneschal have worked to bring us personalized recruitment links and QR codes you can give to people. Details in Yacks’ announcement.

There has never been a better time to recruit and never more tools available to do it. History shows that personally recruited members fare far better than random joins. Speaking of random joins…

We need your help for helping welcome and integrate all new members as well, whether they are recruited or not. Everyone is hereby deputized to be part of the welcome wagon. If you see a new member on telegram or the mailer then introduce yourself, make them feel welcome. Game with them, talk to them, answer their questions, embrace them (with consent of course). Our clan and the Brotherhood as a whole is only as strong as our members and each member we retain and new member we add to the fold makes all of us stronger.

Little things matter. Interactions that probably don’t register to you can have a bigger impact than you know on a new member (or even an old one who needs some encouragement). I still remember how I was immediately welcomed into the fold and encouraged by you guys (and a certain tree in particular) when I first joined. I was never looked down on for being new and always encouraged to rise to my full potential as a member. We need to keep that going because that’s what makes us as a clan who we are.

And yes my Arconan brothers and sisters...Ohana means family :P

Changing the Guard

Rollmaster

Over the last month, Daniel Stephens has stepped down as our Rollmaster due to real-life time constraints. Therefore, we decided to open applications Brotherhood-wide and found Xantros to be the best candidate for the position.

Even being new to his post, Xantros has sent out five welcome emails between our two latest joins. Splitting the usual welcome email into four to give our new joins a streamlined learning curve to follow, I have welcomed this method as being one of our best—if not most dedicated introductions that I have seen from past Rollmasters. His constant surge of emails, Telegram presence and outline for the role is something we value greatly in a time when we will need to recruit to our fullest. Welcome aboard!

Hoth Aedile

Revak Kur has also stepped down as Aedile of Hoth. Having served with him for a long time, I value the effort he put into the Clan and his active membership that he still retains. Edgar Drachen has been selected to act as his successor, working with Quaestor Nathan Deciarus to develop House Hoth and its members in preparation for future events. We’re anxious to see what Edgar brings into the fold!

Knights of Allusis Battle Team Leader

Tistito "Tisto" Kingang has been selected to act as the new Battle Team Leader of the Knights of Allusis. While he will be replacing Liam Torun in the role, we have decided that Liam will remain the Battle Team Sergeant of the Knights of Allusis to provide guidance to its new leader and usher in some new talent to our leadership. Both of these are important tasks, and something that we hope to see more of in the future!

Life Day Celebration

• The Life Day Games - The Wookies of the the Chosen have invited the members of Clan Odan-Urr to participate in their annual Life Day festivities which includes various contests of strength and skill.

  • Week 1 Cluster Race - Collect the most Clusters of Fire and Clusters of Earth during the competition period to win! Clusters of Fire count for 2 points per cluster and Clusters of Earth count for one point per cluster
  • Week 1 PVP Score - Earn the highest (weighted) PVP score during the competition period to win!
  • Snow Day! (Mobile) - Get the highest score in Snow Day to win! Submit screenshots via the site for valid entries. Score ties will be broken by Fist submission.
  • Week 1 - Skill Test - Pazaak - The game of Pazaak features a underused rule that allows a player to automatically win a hand if they fill their side of the board with cards without busting (going over 20). Do you have the guts to go for broke?

Brotherhood News

• Episode VII Celebration! - In celebration of the biggest Star Wars related event in a decade the Dark Council has created a fun “non-vendetta” series of comps for you to sink your teeth into this holiday season. Glory and dossier trinkets are up for grabs.

• GOREFEST! - The monthly Gorefest competition is going on right now so when you are done reading this lovely report and leaving your CON/PCON an encouraging comment get out there and get some double clusters!

  • Battlefront Pendants of Blood - In other gaming news the FIST office has published guidelines and updated the site for Pendants of Blood for the new Battlefront game on all platforms.

• Herald Style Hanukkah soonish… - Our favorite bearded tree graphics wizard person and his staff are hard at work making dossier goodies for all you boys and girls to enjoy this season. The unique images they have collectively produced is already in the 100s. If you get a chance be sure to pat the Herald staff on the back for all their hard work.

• MAA Policy changes - Aabs featured a new “container” type competition and a new rule that competition organizers and co-organizers cannot place in their own competitions. Also a certain Quaestor got himself featured in the golden recommendations section (senpai noticed you Mar).

• Voice Update - Evant gave us the most detailed progress report on Possessions yet and put out some very useful guidance on DB-wide fiction comps and character sheet loadouts.

  • GM ACC Invitational Tournament - Your beloved CON and PCON have advanced to round II of the ongoing ACC tournament. It’s Odan-Urr vs Arcona in Round II as Turel takes on Terran and A’lora takes on Timeros. Grab your popcorn, these will be great fights to read.

• Achievement Unlocked - If you’ve logged on the site recently you may have noticed that the DB now has some neat achievement style trophies to unlock on the site for bragging rights. Don’t be a n00b, check them out! :P

Ask Turel (and A’lora)

Dolash - #AskTurel Hey Turel, Dolash here, I'm a constant reader of your reports and love you. Anyway I saw some mention of #Odan-Urr space exploration. Are we going to be branching out of the system and finding a new home?

Turel - Yes, I'm working on a clan event right now in which we will be off world. Nathan has also mentioned doing off-world stuff for Hoth. Let us now forget the Episode VII Celebration! Plenty of chances to get out there.

A’lora - This is something that has been talked about for a long time, and I believe it to be high time that we look past our borders. Where Turel has an idea for a Clan event, we’ll be looking at a possible feud in the near future. Keep checking back for more information!

Chib - With OU/Jedi being peacekeepers or seen as a UN style creature, how do you plan to implement PC Non Force Users? Will they be apart of the Council Guard, are they military?

Turel - KUDF for loyalists and mercs are just mercs I guess. This will be clarified but I imagine the KUDF as a joint force that the colonies, Jedi and Harakoans all contribute to for the common defense. A proposal for how Jedi and NFUs will integrate into the clan’s armed forces (in a way that makes sense) is being developed and will be circulated to the summit and general membership for feedback.

A’lora - Within reason, I would like to continue the trend of allowing members to build their own characters complete with reasoning for being a Gray Jedi, Mercenary or Loyalist in the Clan. The KUDF is our standard branch for those who want to have a Loyalist character, while the Disciples (or Jedi) of Odan-Urr is a broad term to describe all of our Force-users. Still, we’re looking into avenues that might make a better guideline for this, rather than a set of rules.

Chib - #AskTurel Member A wants leadership but there are no available positions. What are things I can be doing to help lead by example? -

Turel - Leadership doesn’t depend on a position. One of things I look at when I evaluate an application is how well a member has been a leader in the ranks. Are they present in clan channels encouraging their teammates? Are they active? Do they volunteer for projects? Do they lead by example with their attitude and participation in events? Do they mentor others?

You have to follow before you lead and it doesn’t matter if you have the best application on paper, if you’ve been a dud in the ranks I’m going to be skeptical of any application. That may sound somewhat harsh but it’s true.

A’lora - Be a leader through example. Moreover, apply for positions that show up. We look for those who are vocal, command an excellent presence and participate above the rank and file of members. All of those who have done all of these are the rockstars of our Clan (Not to say that we all aren’t talented,) and getting a position shouldn’t be an issue.

Gresee - #askTurel Do you have plans to boost up gaming environment in COU, in activities and training?

Turel - Yes, funny you mention that. There is gaming comp series out now called "The Life Day Games". The Week 1 comps are live and we are looking for suggestions for non-db supported games to feature in weeks two and three of the comp. Also I will be working with Edgar on fostering small groups built around interest or gaming platforms. The best way to climb the GMRG ranks is with a small group of buddies.

Chib - #AskTurel some of our members are pacifists, how will the Summit address this in events?

Turel - Pacifists create a sense of moral conflict and can serve as a voice of reason when the drums of war beat. Also they have a part to play in either supporting the effort or taking care of those affected by war. So we will feature that aspect as much as possible, at least I will.

Sa Ool - #askTurel when is your next attempt at hugging Sa?

Turel - Now. hugs

Vyr - #askturel What are your thoughts on the betting pool whether Turel will notice anything odd about the general that the KUDF soldiers started some time ago? :P

Turel - What’s it up to now? I think Turel has noticed something is up with Vorsa by now :P

A’lora - So long as it doesn’t go towards getting me a new outfit, I’m all right with this.

Aside from the influx of new leaders and a mass shift in positions, House Satele Shan has been operating at peak efficiency, with astonishing levels of activity. While there is little news to mention, there is plenty to do that is mentioned in this report!

Our valiant Knights of Allusis have been called on to quell a sudden surge in criminal activities! Our new Battle Team Leader, Tistito "Tisto" Kingang, has been at work making this event to be published the moment he was appointed to his new role. Back him up in dealing with this organization so we can plan out the assault!

• The Crime Wave - The Knights of Allusis have received intell from the K.U.D.F. about a criminal organization. To test the still fledging Battle Team, the Knights have been assigned to do recon on this organization before an assault on them.

  • The Syndicate - Who are we up against? This is up to you. Design a syndicate who we will face. This competition has noting to do with people in it, though the number of people in the Syndicate is required. In addition the name of the Syndicate is needed.
  • The Boss and His Men - Here is the time to fully flesh out your crime boss and two of his most powerful henchmen. This can be in any format, from a short fiction, to a character sheet.
  • Intell Gathering - You have been tasked with finding information on a criminal organization through various means.
