Corvus leaned against the balcony railing, a mug of tea held in his right hand. He looked into the distance, away from the busy city of Essadan, towards the grand floating Voraskel Palace, its spires piercing the orange sky. The setting suns silhouetted the Palace, though through some advanced optic work, red sunlight still found its way through the city, causing it to gleam with somewhat unnatural beauty.
Above, the brightest stars began to appear, pinpricks of light that would, given time, take over the sky and form an intricate pattern to mesmerise the curious. By then, Kearls would also have made an appearance - close to the horizon, this time of year.
Behind him, the noble Ravix stepped out with a glass of wine. He approached slowly, following Corvus’ gaze.
“Beautiful night, isn’t it?” The Rollmaster motioned for the Sephi to join him at the railing. Ravix, however, was resistant.
“I’m afraid there is slight discord among the people. Jedi fell into legend long ago, and as such your powers strike fear into some. The brevity of our partnership is not established enough to know for sure your motivations and moral standing. Also, the training exercise conducted between your Houses has alerted some to your martial prowess. Grave damage could come to our own forces if those that you run from found you. Not to mention the damage if you turn on us yourselves.”
“I have heard such doubt and rumour. I see no substantial gesture we can make other than to continue working together, to mutual benefit. Besides, these doubts and rumours are not reported to be widespread, or cause for much concern.”
“This is true, but it is still perhaps an issue worth active consideration. You wouldn’t want to make more enemies.”
Corvus sipped his tea. “Noted. My friend, do come and marvel at the Palace with me.”
Ravix didn’t move. “Maybe another time. An innkeeper downstairs told me to tell you that a meeting of the Gzenoi has been called.”
Corvus paused, before turning. “I think you mean the Kzenoi, Ravix. And in that case I’m afraid I must dash. We must meet again, and soon.”
“I’ll follow you out, if you don’t mind. Oh, and maybe you could tell me who the Kzenoi are?”
Corvus flashed a grin at the Vatali noble. “Not on my life, mate. There are worse things than death in store if I talked. Besides, it’s not my secret to tell.”
Welcome one and all to the newest Rollmaster report for Odan-Urr! I hope to give you all a useful update on the Clan’s activities, as well as talk a bit about the various projects going on at the moment.
Currently, Clan Odan-Urr consists of 66 members. During August, 35 members had measurable activity, giving us an activity ratio of 53%. Former and current members of the Clan have earned:
Crescents: 57
Clusters of Ice: 60
Clusters of Fire: 1912
Clusters of Earth: 146
Clusters of Graphite: 29
Aside from this, members have passed 56 Shadow Academy exams and 7 Degrees. They have also submitted 245 entries for competitions. Fantastic!
Odan-Urr has been lucky enough to gain quite a few members this month. Give them a COU welcome!
This month, Edgar Drachen achieved 25 competition entries, 6 crescents (1 Siamond, 3 Ruby, 2 Amethyst), 613 Clusters of Fire, 57 Clusters of Earth and 5 Clusters of Graphite. Good job man!
Junazee has been busy! She has entered 15 competitions, and gained 3 crescents, 375 Clusters of Fire and 14 Clusters of Earth. Wow!
Seth Danner aka Darro entered 12 competitions, won 3 crescents, 318 Clusters of Fire and 2 Clusters of Graphite. Nice work!
Arcia Cortel entered 7 competitions, gaining 1 Crescent and 248 Clusters of Fire. Brilliant!
Christopher ‘Nero’ Winchester has entered 12 competitions, gained 1 Crescent, and 174 Clusters of Fire. Fantastic!
Korroth has entered 15 competitions, and won 5 Crescents, 6 Clusters of Ice, 55 Clusters of Fire and 5 Clusters of Graphite. He’s also completed 2 SA courses, earning him an SA degree in Combat! Love it!
Despite being relatively new to the Clan, Ka Tarvitz has entered 6 competitions, getting 1 Crescent in the process so far! He’s also - wait for it - completed 42(!) SA courses, as well as gaining 5(!) degrees! Phenomenal job man!
Xolarin has been busy this month - he has entered 7 competitions, earning 3 Crescents in the process. He’s also gained 15(!) Clusters of Ice, passed 6 SA courses, and gained 1 SA degree. (Not to mention that he’s also just been promoted to Knight and has been a BTL for the past month). Keep going, man!
Tisto Kingang has been working fantastically - he has entered 10 competitions, gaining 4 Crescents, 3 Clusters of Ice, 36 Clusters of Earth, and 5 Clusters of Graphite. Nice job!
Also a relative newcomer, Ka-Lel has hit the ground running, entering 4 competitions and earning 53 Clusters of Fire - nice job!
Through Mauro Wynter’s efforts, he has entered 22 competitions, and gained 3 Clusters of Ice and 4 Crescents. Congrats!
Members of the month: Xolarin and Ka Tarvitz
I’ve picked these two because they have both been phenomenal members this month. Xolarin has been promoted to Knight, but has also been working pretty hard as Zirael’s BTL, welcoming new members and helping them rise up.
And rise up they have, as Ka Tarvitz shows - he has put some awesome time into his activities, and it shows, as his incredible SA stats show!
Xantros is still working on this with his team, though he says he is very nearly finished. He says he aims for it to be complete some time next week, so keep your eyes out for an email!
Alethia Archenksova has kindly created a wonderful summary of our current Clan Lore to help people stay up to date with everything that is happening. You can find it here. We’re hoping to bring something like this out every 6 months, if not every quarter. Thanks Arch!
This is a big one - we want to keep members and grow into an even more fantastic community. One major piece of that is providing interesting content and competitions. The more important and vital aspect is community, as addressed in a proposal that Raiju and his team are putting together. I’ve been lending a hand, and it looks like a great proposal - two aspects which are focussed upon are the individual member-to-member relationships and an activity (fictional) reward system. It looks to be interesting and rewarding. It’s hopefully being finished up at the moment, and will go on to the next stage within a week.
Unlike other Battle-teams, such as the Knights of Allusis or the newly formed Garza’s Pathfinders, Zirael is something different. In truth, it still is quite a work in progress, and both Xolarin and myself are still ironing out the creases.
Something that came up recently was Zirael’s function. When we have an active, interested and motivated member in Zirael, at what point do we ‘graduate’ them, and let them join one of the Houses? When they show persistent activity, and an interest in Clan life, do we ask them if they want to transfer? By this practice, whenever Zirael gained an active, motivated member, it would rapidly lose it, and stay fairly perpetually as a group of mostly uninterested, inactive people.
Alternatively, is Zirael intended to be an active group of Journeymen in its own right, or is it meant to be a kind of incubator which welcomes new members, puts them on their feet, introduces them to the Brotherhood, then help them move on to wider things?
This is the problem we tackled this week, and here’s a blurb from Xolarin on various Zirael functions:
Battleteam Zirael is a unique entity in Clan Odan-Urr. The training ground BT has in essence become an "incubator", whose goal is to train our newest members up to being Knighted (JM3 or 4) so that they may learn the Brotherhood and Clan ways and be primed for action. Along the way, they will realize that Zirael has some unique lore on Kiast that needs to be explored and monthly competitions are likely to come, depending on our growth and activity levels.
But while we introduce new members to the broader club, we also want them to be able to springboard into other Battleteams, Houses, or even Clans. We never want to stifle anyone's progress or fun, so we would encourage folks to embark on transfers if the need and desire is there. The Rollmaster and Battleteam Leader should be consulted before that, but we need to empower even our newest of members to move on should they be fully ready.
By definition, Zirael is here for new Clan members from Apprentice through Knight. After all, Zirael is "the first step into a larger world." But some members may be quite ready to move on at various times during their growth and we welcome that. Members and summit folks alike should always be comfortable inquiring about Zirael members at any time with myself or Corvus.
I’ve already had a number of responses - thank you :) As soon as we have willing JMs, I’ll be sure to reach out to one of you.
One of the common RM jobs is maintaining the Master-Student Program. If you would like to be a Master, or a Student, then please complete this form.
We’ve made two new Master / Student pairings this month - Edgar Drachen and Tarvitz, and Junazee and Ka-Lel. Congrats!
This month, we’ve had quite a lot of new members, and most of them are active and awesome people! We’ve also had a bit of a lull in activity, but not as much as I expected - I think that the next Clan Event (starting very soon) will be very well-received.

Very informative report Corvus, nice job!
Wow so much activity from a large number of members! I love this and great work to everyone! Congratulations to the members of the Month too!
The only thing I'll add to Project Zireal is that the House and Clan Summits are in full support of the BT and will assist in any way you need.
Excellent report! Some great info in here.
Certainly good to see we've been active over the past month. Better still to see such a strong showing from all our members.
