As I sit at my desk with only hours remaining before Rogue One has it's first screening in my theatre, I am struck by just a moment of pure happiness. In just a few hours, I will be opening the doors to the public for seating at the first screening of Rogue One. We will have die-hard fans that have loved Star Wars since they were kids, dressed up as their favourite characters and we'll have all of the new generation of fans that The Force Awakens brought in last year. Thinking back on the opening of TFA last year, it was chaotically busy of course but there was an underlying joy in all of it. Lines were long and never ending but people weren't complaining because they were about to sit down and enjoy a movie that hopefully they could add to their list of favourites for years to come. I remember doing exit greetings after each auditorium got out to see what my guests thought of the film and it brought a smile to my face to hear little girls exclaiming that they wanted to be Rey when they grew up and little boys running around pretending to be Finn.
Regardless of your feelings towards Disney and what you feel it is doing to your favourite franchise, remember that it is bringing something you love back to the forefront to hopefully provide us all with years more content to enjoy.
Just some random thoughts to start off my report this month!
As you all may recall from my previous work, one of my goals was to continue on with an idea Drac had been working on. I introduced my container competition "A Year of Surprises" this past month with 3 fun little sub-competitions to encourage people to stay active over the month. While there wasn't as much participation as I would have hoped for, there were still submissions and some shinies to be given out!
Introducing The Circle was the short fiction competition I offered. I had 2 great submissions to choose from and while I enjoyed both, I do unfortunately have to choose a "winner". 1. Azmodius Equesinfernum 2. Blair Augusta Dearg
Flip! Was the mobile gaming competition this month and for those of you who tried it out, it was crazy addictive! 1. Reiydan Rosenau with an impressive 221 2. Azmodius Equesinfernum 3. Blair Augusta Dearg
An Important Message was the cryptograph puzzle competition. The message was clear: Welcome to the Circle. Failure will not be tolerated. 1. Blair Augusta Dearg 2. Furios Morega 3. Azmodius Equesinfernum
A special thank you to Azmodius and Blair for participating in all 3 competitions. I hope you guys had fun with the competitions. This is something I intend to do when there isn't a whole lot going on within the Brotherhood to compete in.
It's WINTER TRIALS time folks! Week one of our trials has closed and I want to thank all of you who have participated thus far. It's been highly amusing to read everyone's tweets! We still have time to compete in Week 2 and Week 3!
Running from 2016-12-11 to 2016-12-18
Running from 2016-12-18 to 2016-12-27
We also have The Dark Council hosting its celebration for the launch of Rogue One, called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Celebration. There is still plenty of time to get in on the celebration! There is a series of events in all kinds of different activities that the Brotherhood offers. You have until January 7 to participate and the competitions are as follows:
The foremost thing on the Clan’s mind right now should be the Winter Trials. To those of you who are under the rank of Equite 2, this means a chance to fill in your DB history with some good, meaningful activity to help you up those ranks. For those that are under the rank of knight, captain, or professional, the several competitions being run in the event apply to promotions. Additionally, there are competitions that give you prompts to write your word counts in and offer a chance to earn Clusters of Ice, both of which apply to promotions. Lastly, if you participate in enough of the events, you may earn a merit medal based on your level of activity, which also applies to your next promotion. Basically, events like the Plagueis Winter Trials are hotbeds of promotional opportunity for most of you reading this. This is why our illustrious summit, runs them every so often.
Secondly, I just want to reiterate the importance of communication in this club. Before anything else, this is a social club. It’s meant for enjoyers of Star Wars to come together and have some fun. As such, it’s difficult to get the full experience if you don’t take part in the socializing. So join our party (it’s on Telegram) and enjoy. We’re the Dark Jedi Brotherhood after all.
Furios
Sit back and enjoy the holidays this season with your friends and family. Catch a movie… cough cough Rogue One cough cough.... And always remember that if you need a hand within the club, I'm always available to help out!
