A quick update from the Headmaster’s office to announce a couple of new and improved courses and the winners of our recent events.
It was determined during the course of our audit that a number of courses, particularly in the Gaming & Combat Department, could use more than a cursory audit. This revamp of Ranged Weaponry Studies is the result of the hard work of that course’s professor, Warden Celevon Edraven Erinos, and represents the kinds of improvements we’re aiming to see in future courses.
Celevon added a variety of new weapon types to the course and included examples of existing ranged weapons within our possession system to better integrate the course content with our club’s systems and highlight some of the exciting things available to our members within it.
We’ve also added information about the character sheet system to the course so that members interested in utilizing ranged weaponry with their characters may find information on the skills they would need for the different weapon types.
We’re very pleased with the end result and encourage even those who have previously taken the course to have a look!
As part of some planned changes to our Department of Leadership, Law & Communication, Professor Declan Roark put forward a revised Wiki Basics course that focuses on helping Novitiates and Journeymen create their Character Pages: Wiki Basics: Character Creation. The course notes now utilize the existing Wiki documentation and a revised set of focused exam questions around this topic and some of the basics of creating on the Wiki for the first time.
In addition to that revision, Declan also created a new course to supplement this effort: Wiki Basics: Policies, Guidelines & Style to help introduce members to (or remind them of) the policies, standards and best practices on the DJB Wiki. That course is active now!
Since our last update, we’ve named the winners of the Shadow Feast competition:
Warlord Bentre Sadow, Lieutenant Colonel Essik Lyccane, and Colonel Rhylance earned the (respective) top three seats at the table! Congratulations and thanks to everyone who participated - we loved watching your rap battles, sampling your recipes and hearing your fantastical tales of misadventure.
A number of our newer members (and a few older faces) took the stage in January’s Decathlon as they shredded through Academy courses. Congratulations to the winners!
February’s race is already on and heated, but there’s still a chance to see your name at the top of the leaderboard next month.
In Darkness,
Ciara, P:HM
