So Long and Thanks for All The Fish

May as well start off with the important part. Earlier this week, I let Mav know that I would be stepping aside as Consul. In the end, life has gotten the better of me and I don’t have the energy and drive I need to be the leader Plagueis needs. It’s been a great pleasure being your Consul the past 14 months. We’ve been through quite a bit, but we have persevered and I want to thank you all for your efforts. I’m going to stick around while Mav gets a replacement, but going into the war you’ll have a new leader. Mavant (sorry, it just works) should be posting a request for applications shortly. I’m willing to look at apps and answer questions for anyone who might be interested in applying. And, as I said in my last report, even if you don’t think you’ll get the job, apply anyway. I know I got ideas from unsuccessful applications Mav shared with me and I’m sure my successor will be interested in the same. Oh,and you’d worry if I didn’t have a seal for this, especially after a seal free report last time out. So, here he is!

Vacation Time is Over, It’s Time For War

Ronovi recently announced the end of Vacation on Mustafar and overall, I was pleased with the event. We had 19 of y’all get in over 160 entries, which is a pretty good set of numbers. Good work to everyone who participated. That said, fun time is over. Recently, Mav announced the start time for [the 13th Great Jedi War] as July 20. That’s about a month away folks, so it’s time to get ready.

For those who might be newer to the DJB, Great Jedi Wars are the biggest and most important events in that we have around here. They offer deliver major plot movements, hand out lots of shinies and “stabbies” (my name for sacramental awards), and demonstrate the relative strength of the clans. While we don’t have exact details on how the event will be scored, if past events are any indication, participation rate will be a major component of it. So doing things you might not think you’ll place in will be important for the clan. While having fun is important, and I’m confident the DC will have a wide variety of events to make having fun easier, please please please do as many of the things as you can. So get ready,and of course, get hyped!

Galaxy of Warships (and Tanks, and Fighters)

As probably one of my last acts as Consul, I made one additional preparation for war, buying us more shootie stuff! If you check out our Possessions Page, you’ll see we have quite a few new toys. On the fleet side, I’ve added a pair of Nebulon-C Frigates t0 the fleet. Ajunta Pall adds Formidable and Karness Muur adds Audacious to their respective task forces. Each frigate comes with 4 T-70 X-Wing Squadrons and a squadron each of B-Wings and the updated RZ-2 A-Wings. I also updated our existing A-Wing squadrons. This now gives us the latest in starfighters across the fleet and some nice new ships to carry them around. However, we need more than ships to win a war.

On the land forces side, I’ve decided to upgrade our defensive capabilities and get Aliso some proper security forces. Thus we’ve added a fully equipped regiment of troops to garrison the planet. This is complete with a tank company, air forces, defensive artillery, and a special missions and scout battalion. This should give us the ability to deploy the full Ascendant Legion (which also upgraded some of its armor in this process) for offensive operations while leaving Aliso adequately defended.

Around the DB

Not much to report in this segment this month as we have a lot of new personnel in key positions. Atra was recently announced as the new Spreadsheet Master of the Brotherhood (better known as Regent) and should be good in the role. In the above post that announced the GJW, Mav also announced a new Fist/Salt Lord, Alaris, and a new Praetor, some Drac guy. Congrats to all of them on their new assignments. Other than that, pretty much everything is focused on getting solid GJW ready in a month. To get you in the mood, there are a few comps going around which are worth a look. The Headmaster has a series of SA themed events going which look like they could be fun. There’s also an ever popular Puzzle Event going on as well. Oh, and I probably should plug my own event that was inspired by a CAH card. At long last, we have The Tellenovella of Darth Plagueis the Wise to test your overly melodramatic soap opera writing!

Closing Thoughts and Moment of Zen

So yeah, it feels weird stepping down after almost 3 straight years on the summit but it really is time. It’s going to be a different feeling being a regular member as I’ve had some sort of title for practically my entire time in the club. But it’s one I think I’ll enjoy for a time. I’m still going to stay active to the best of my ability, including during the war and will probably run a comp or two here and there. Who knows, Mav might even find some work for me or something. Anyway, I’ll be around in some form.

Oh, and for my last moment of Zen for the foreseeable future, well, I think you know what’s coming. We all need moar sealz!
