Event Approaching

So, there's another Plagueis event on the horizon: The Enemy Below. While plot details are under close wraps at this moment, what I can tell you is that the event will be taking place on Aliso and will see us facing a threat the likes of which we have not faced before. It won't be Sith spirits, unreconstructed Imperials, or the crazy guy sitting on the Iron chair plotting how to smash all his toys. Suffice it to say, we will be exploring some of the answers behind questions we've had since Plagueis arrived on Aliso. Why is there a Separatist base on Aliso? Why did none in the wider Galaxy know about it? What happened to leave it totally deserted? All of this and more will be kicking into gear as of March 20th, two weeks from tomorrow.

In addition, the formating of the event as it comes to teams and participation will also be somewhat… different. It won't be unit vs unit, but it also won't be our Pro Bowl format either (where the Clan leaders pick teams). It will be something new, and you won't know who you're allied with until the event starts. So feel free to keep an eye on your fellow Clan and House members, any one of them could end up being friend or enemy!

Clan Lore

One of the long term projects I've been looking to focus on as Consul is the expansion of the lore of Clan Plagueis. In a lot of ways, while we have a well developed clan identity, the surrounding bits of the setting in which our Clan operates comes up short. You may have noticed additions to the DJB Wiki for us such as Arias Lewin (an entry from a recent competiton), Sigma Group, or the plethora of new additions to the list of Plagueis starships. I'm interested in putting together a small team to work with the summit to help develop the fictional structures of Plagueis, things like locations or ship backgrounds. If you're interested in doing work on that project, and think you're suited to work from outlines and with guidance to flesh out content, please contact me. It will very much be a group effort, so realize that your work might get changed or Voltroned together with that of other members or summit staffers to form a finished product.

The goal of this project is also to craft locations that can also become ACC venues. Plagueis is one of the few, if only, units to lack Clan specific ACC locations. This made sense when our base of operations was a super sekrit space station hidden in a nebula, but now that we're on Aliso that has changed. One of the contributing factors to Plagueis moving to Alsio in the first place was to open up the possibility of ACC involvement, so putting together a slate of locations is the first step along that path.

Aliso City

One of the specific areas of development that we'll be working on is Aliso City. Aside from our Clan and House HQ's, there's not much going on across the surface of Aliso. I think, however, that building up a bit of a town/city around the Pinnacle will give our members different locations in which to have their characters operate in, from dive bars to mechanic's shops to the local clothing vendor. The general feel of the city is one that is more of a frontier outpost that lacks the spit and polish of more established municipalities. I see a future where we expand Aliso's settlements on the wiki as well beyond Aliso City, but for now the focus will be on the "capital", such as it is.

Land Grants

As part of our Clan Lore expansion, after consulting with most of the rest of the summit, I've made the decision to grant the di Plagia huge... tracts of land.

No, not those sort of tracts, the ones made of actual land. The idea here is to allow the di Plagia the ability to construct (aka write up) their own estates on Aliso. There are going to be some restrictions, of course. The estate must lean more towards the house scale and less the size of a township, it will face approval from the Clan Summit, and it (most importantly) must be available for possible inclusion in the list of Plagueis ACC venues.

The reasoning behind this is twofold: First, to farm out some of the work of creating more locations for Plagueis. Second, I wanted to give a bit of fictional fluff for our di Plagia members. The last was something that I had a number of concerns about, though. I didn't want this to just be another example of "Only elders (or title holders) can have nice things", instead I wanted it to be a bit of a permanent addition to the Clan setting as a recognition for the di Plagia. I had a long discussion with most all of the summit members from the Clan, Houses, and Battleteam before I made the final decision on this one since I wanted to get opinions from people that, outside of Arden and myself, are not di Plagia. Everyone was very supportive of the decision, so I went ahead and decided to enact the policy.

Lastly, as was implied above, any di Plagia that wants to have their land grant added to the Clan lore (as a wiki article or mention) will be responsible for the creation of their own estate. They don't have to write it themselves, of course, but it will be up to the di Plagia to generate the content as the summit will not be doing so. So, if you're a di Plagia and interested, have at!

Dreadful Questions

Silent asks: If you only could and had to which clan member would you save in a life or death situation and why?

• For Selika the character, that question at this point probably has a fairly variable answer. She's so very self centered that she really doesn't even have friends or personal attachments, so her choice of who to save would largely be based on what would be the most advantageous to her at the time. She needs to get away from pirates? Laren. She needs a blunt instrument to unleash against her enemies? Abadeer. She needs somebody to have red eyes? Probably Brimstone. (Because he's Chiss, of course.)

Malice asks: How does Selika feel about the new baby?

Kelly asks: If Selika was GM for a day, what would she do?

• That's an interesting question. I mean, the easy answer would be CRUSH PUNY LIGHTSIDERS! Really, though, Selika is a bit more nuanced then that. Her relationship with a certain BEF (Best Enemy Forever) that leads Odan-Urr is more about turning him to the darkity-dark side than straight up destruction, and she already knows that the glassing of Odan-Urr's home didn't make him fall and instead probably strengthened his resolve. Maybe she'd explore getting at him through his sister somehow, but that's not assured. Outside of that, probably dig out any last vestiges of the old DJB Krath or their writings, since she hates them and thinks they were all Krathing wrong.

Azmodius asks: How does Slagar cope with failure/disappointment in his subordinates?

Kryy asks: What's a good example of a dreadful question?

• Really, anything that strikes your fancy. Some of the best are those that are attempting to get answers that give a better fictional understanding of the Clan, it's cast of characters, or the Brotherhood as a whole. Others can focus on getting answers to how things work in the Star Wars club we're all apart of. Though, of course, there are always those that let me have fun with gifs. I like those, too.

Wally asks: So I heard the Vong are canon again.

• None. Dread Lords cause dread, not the other way around.

In Closing

I'm very happy with what the future holds for Plagueis. We've got a big competition event looming on the horizon and a plan to build a bigger campaign setting for our party. Remember, if you're interested in contributing to that content expansion, give your summit a call!
