It’s a Run-On Life (for us)

Sorry everyone for the report being a bit late. Life has been a bit hectic of late and, well, stuff happens. However,we do have some fun and interesting stuff going on in the clan right now so let’s get right down to it. The biggest one is our new clan Run-On The Song of Discord. I’ve talked a bit about my intentions for this on the last PlagCast , but I want to elaborate on a couple important points. I want this story to be driven as much by you the members as by Ronovi and I. We have a general direction we’re looking at taking the story and some items we want to work in, but our plan is also flexible. I encourage you to come up with some different directions and throw your own twists into the mix. As long as they fit the parameters of where the story is going, we’ll incorporate those ideas. I like being thrown for a loop by cool ideas that I didn’t anticipate. It’s what I find fun about collective storytelling. If you have any questions about the story and what not, please ask me. I’m not 100% sure on the time frame of how long the event is going to run, but it will probably run through the summer at the very least. That said, I would like to make regular progress and would like to have enough material to get a plot advancement post in within the next week.

Quick note on the PlagCast. Ronovi, Tuq, and I are still looking over the submissions and we’ll make a decision soon. I’ll let Ronovi announce our pick in her report.

Events and Such

While Ronovi talked a fair bit about how our last event, the Mysteries of Aliso went down, there are a couple more points I’d like to add in conclusion of that event. I really enjoyed looking at everyone’s submissions for the Lore based events and we will start incorporating those things into the wiki and/or the Run-on as circumstances warrant. While we may not use all the ideas and might adapt others to better suit our overall purposes, rest assured we’ll keep these things in mind as we continue to build up Aliso and the story surrounding it. Also, don’t keep these types of submissions only to events. Ronovi and I love hearing ideas for new people and places, so feel free to bring something to us should the muse strike you. While the primary focus will be the Run On for a bit, the work on locations and lore never really ends. On that front, to all our journeymen, if you’re looking for a project to help out on, we’re more than willing to find you one

Now that we’ve talked about the event we’ve done, I wanted to talk a bit about what we have coming up. My goal still is to have some sort event roughly every calendar quarter. Thus, work is progressing towards something in August. I can’t go into extensive details now, but I can say other clans will likely be involved and it’s going to be a lot of fun. More on this as it develops, but “save the date(s)” as it were for early August. I think this requires a visit from our favorite fuzzy friend!

One more little thing that we have started up. Earlier this week, we had a fun little game of something called Cards Against Humanity. If you’re not familiar with it, click the link, you’ll get the jist. Yes, the game can get kind of, um, interesting at times, it’s all in good fun. We’ve even started our own little mini Plagueis expansion pack. If you have ideas for cards and/or want to get in on the next game (which is planned for this Tuesday the 3rd at 9pm EDT), all the details are in Telegram.

From Elsewhere in the DJB

We’ve had a few recent reports and other news items that I wanted to pass along to the group. The first report I wanted to hilight was a recent one put out by the Combat Master In this report, Atra talks about the Coaches Corner event and shows a picture that I’m most intersted in. See, apparently we had more participants both in raw numbers and percentage than any clan in the DB! I’m stoked to see so much interest from the clan in getting involved in the ACC.I might even open myself up to some challenges to both give y’all a chance to practice as well as to get a bit of rust off my ACC skillz. Atra also brings up an excellent point that applies to way more than the ACC. If you ever have a post, fiction, or heck even a wiki article, it’s probably a good idea to get it proofread. I’ll happily look over ACC posts for anyone in the clan. Ronovi, well, she didn’t get the moniker “pontiff of proofreading” for nothing. Just be sure to give us sufficient time to read the item in question before it’s due.

Next up, we got some very helpful information from our resident Candian Panda. While there’s some information in here about a new promotion system, the real highlight here is that Howie is looking for another minion to help out around the office. Magistrate positions are always helpful in learning the inner workings of the DB and the MAA’s office is one of the most important in the club. So I encourage everyone to take a stab at it. Even if you don’t get the gig, you might get tapped for some project down the line.

To round out the report listings, we have a recent one from the Fist . The report contains a lot of useful information about a new gaming platforms, a test for some Fortnite thing, and the retirement of Destiny 1. I wanted to highlight that second one for a moment. Tests like this are important to participate in if you want a game added to the DB catalogue. If you don’t play, it won’t be added, plain and simple. So, if you’re into Fortnite, check out the information on the test and dive in (I hear that’s a thing you do in that game). One more quick gaming related note, please congratulate our very own Kelly Mendes at getting to #2 on the GMRG leaderboard for the quarter! Good work Kelly!

Concluding Thoughts and Moment of Zen

As a whole I think we’re at a very interesting time in the clan. I’m really excited to see what you all come up with for the run-on and running with the story. As Ronovi and I stated in the PlagCast, our goal for this story isn’t necessarily to change Plagueis as much as it is to challenge a couple of our core identity items. How you react to this challenge will go a long way to determining how we present these issues going forward. All that said, if fiction just isn’t your thing, rest assured we’ll have other ways for you to contribute to the richer environment I’m hoping to create. To close this report out, I want to bring out a song that’s been stuck in my head the better part of the last week for a number of reasons. While you might recognize Friction from the trailer for some Tom Cruise movie, I think it actually has a deeper relevance to a certain character in this story (or maybe more than one).
