Operation: Sojourn Complete!

Operation Sojourn has officially come to an end. This was an amazing event that proved how strong we are as a Clan and we should be so thankful to have a Clan Summit and other members who helped behind the scenes to ensure this entire event was so awesome. If you’d like to check the leader board feel free. Thank you all who participated! I’d like to recognize one member specifically, though. Adam Bolera truly represented both House Qel-Droma and Battleteam Shadow Phyle by being the highest on the leaderboard of above anyone else from our House. I look forward to future events like this in the future.

Full results will be released in Wally’s upcoming Clan Report. Hang tight as we await the announcement and Valtiere and I start working on some nifty medals we have been planning.

Shadow Gate and the future of Qel-Droma

Change is a necessary part of evolution and growth. Shadow Gate has been a staple of House Qel-Droma since it reopened over two years ago under Wally and Invictus. Shadow Gate lead all Arcona Battleteams in Great Jedi War X, and were a huge contribution to Arcona’s victory on New Tython. They have stood the test of time as a mixture of both veteran and new members. However, sometimes circumstances beyond our control take shape, and a call for change arises.

After looking at participation numbers from the operation, and even the last round of the Dark Crusade, we realized, however, that Shadow Gate has seen a dip in it’s activity. This was also supplemented by two prominent members (Condar and Feta <3), who both had to step away to the rogues to focus on real life situations and clearly couldn’t help the team in ways they wanted to.

And so, after discussing it with Wally and Legorii, Valtiere and I have agreed with the suggestion to close Shadow Gate Battleteam. We do this with a heavy heart, and know how much the team means to some of its members from the past and present. However, instead of thinking of this as an end, we like to think of it as a new beginning. Looking back at Qel-Droma’s history, I realized that Wally and Vic did something similar leading up to GJWX; they closed Oblivion Brigade (which I heard was Wally’s precious) to help consolidate the House into a single, focused, unified team. Judging from the results, it looks like it did help, and our hope is that it will grant us the same experience and reward.

With the closing of the team, this means that the position of Battleteam Leader and XO are, sadly, closing as well. I’d like to personally thank Deimos and Etah from the bottom of my heart for the work and effort they put into that team. Deimos has been one of Arcona’s most active members over the last year and his lead-by-example style really drove him forward and made him a great leader. He was a valued part of the team and we hate to see him go.

As far as the future goes, Valtiere and I will be working closely with Legorii and Wally in the coming weeks to devise strategies for how we can improve the activity level of HQD. Wally has some very cool proposals he’s looking over; a fictional award for recruiting and helping a member through the Journeyman ranks among them.

We also want to put the power into your guys hand. We would love to open a second team for House Qel-Droma. Show us that you want it, though. Show us an idea; either something new or a rehash of something from the past. Show us that there is interest in the membership for such a team. All it takes for a truly successful battleteam is a strong vision, and a core group of 2-4 people willing to work together to create something truly appealing.

Aedile’s Word

I just wanted to say how proud I am of everyone. Operation: Sojourn was a great success, and Qel-Droma acquitted themselves excellently. It gave a lot of us experience for what happens when real life blindsides us, a crucial skill in long events, so to all those who stepped up, an added congratulations.

It's sad to see Deimos go, he did truly outstanding work as a Battleteam leader, hopefully, he can take what he learnt to whatever he goes on to next. But hopefully, with the closing of one team, another can rise that you guys feel you had a personal stake in making, so start getting your brains working for cool ideas, and don't hesitate to bounce them off me.

Ernordeth and I are cooking up some competitions for us all to enjoy and have a little fun with. But why should we have all the fun of thinking up ideas? We want to hear from you. Do you have a competition idea that you think would blow the minds of Qel-Droma? Maybe a vague thread you want to pull at? Shoot them to us, and we'll work to make them happen. If you have an idea, pop it into the form, and we can take a look at it.
