Introduction

Greetings Qel-Dromans, fellow Arconans and on-lookers from other units. Welcome to the House Qel-Droma March report. The fiction update will come out with a mini-report launching the April House event.

Without further ado, here is the news.

Brotherhood News

• Socks released a Herald Report chuck full of information and a few goodies, including a sexy overhaul to the warbanners. You can see some examples of the new warbanners on my, Rhiann’s or Mirus’ dossiers.

• Our new JSTicar, Jac has adJSTed to his position and laid out several initiatives he and the chamber are working on. JSTice was served in 7 of the 8 pending cases which is JST amazing for JST under a month on the job.

• Bubba detailed some changes to the Gaming Sage and the launch of a new Tactics line of degree for the writers out there. Check out Headmaster Report and the epic comment thread in Degree update. Bring some popcorn for the comments section.

• Wally has wasted no time settling into the CM chair and along with Shad are working on some exciting things for CS 2.0. Read all about it in Combat master report 1 and Combat Master report 2

• Mav laid out some more administrative policies and project updates. DGM Report

• The Lightsaber Guide is now available in a handy web version

• The Grand Master dazzled us with graphs and teased some of the possesions system in his Report

• Aabs put out an MAA Report full of numbers and advice every aspring leader needs.

• Valhavoc’s latest Gaming Update gives a slew of changes and most importantly the details on the make up Gorefests. The Fist staff is also beta testing Hipchat as an alternative to #dbgaming for non-vendetta matches.

House News

• Communication Hey just a quick, friendly reminder that there are several avenues of communication open to House members beyond the traditional IRC channel and clan mailer. First we have the House Mailer ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]), a House Whatsapp group (contact myself or Celevon to get added to the whatsapp group) and another program I want to tell you about. Currently Wally is running a bit of a beta on a whatsapp alternative program called telegram which available on phone, tablet, web and actual PC client. The advantage of Telegram over whatsapp is you don’t have to share you phone number which will make the more privacy conscious of us happy. Download it and give it try, if you’ve already been using whatsapp it will automatically detect your existing contacts. If you are interested contact me or Wally and we’ll get you set up.

• Ol’Val Month April will be Port Ol’val appreciation month. This will be a month long celebration of our favorite seedy asteroid home. There will be a fictional arc and battle team events but the main focus will be on having fun and celebrating well...us. You will see a full update on just the event but, we are also looking for fun member comps to run as sub comps much like the Independence Games. So if you have an idea for a fun, serious, or lighthearted comp you want to run that somehow ties into Port Ol’val send it up to your BTL or to Celevon and myself. Be creative, think outside the box. If your comp is selected you will run it for the House. Gaming, fiction, art, comedy, wiki, you name it.

Please have comp ideas submitted no later than 1 April 2015

Aedile’s Corner

Hard to believe it’s been less than a month since our last report and so many things have happened. All of the lovely shinies.. Seriously, Strat has four competitions awards. I don’t think he’s been quite so active in years. :P

The Shadow Academy is, as ever, evolving with the changes in time. The Sage of Gaming was dropped and two more Sages replaced it. It almost looks as though I actually did something in the Shadow Academy this month. Speaking of the Shadow Academy, there are currently two jobs available, which Turel has shared the link to the report that speaks of it. Magistrate to the Headmaster and Professor of Combat Studies are open for applications.

Applications for the Aedile of House Galeres position in our Sister House are still open until tomorrow just before midnight, Eastern Time.. Send your applications to our Consul Atyiru, [Proconsul Legorii]([Log in to view e-mail addresses]] and the Quaestor of Galeres, Arcia Cortel. Not emailing all of them your application will likely have you losing points towards the position.

Closing Words

This report isn’t up to my usual standards of detail, but things are already starting to speed back up again. The battle teams are humming along and there are plenty of activities to sink your teeth into while we build up for the larger events. We continue to experiment and try new things with the communication platforms. Qel-Droma and Arcona are communities, whether it’s popping on IRC every now and then to say hi, gaming with a buddy or participating in the never ending Whatsapp conversation. Part of my job is to do what I can to facilitate that sense of community and provide the best experience possible for you, the member. My office door is always open.
