Greetings everyone and welcome to the September edition of the Satele Shan Quaestor’s report. The Clan Odan-Urr event Tipping Point has ended. Much hard work went into crafting such a nuanced event and the backing fiction. Likewise, a new organization wide event is in the works for the Fall timeframe. Additionally, there will be some new leadership within House Satele Shan. Let us get into it shall we?

Tipping Point

The results for Tipping Point are out. Overall, many members of the Clan showcased their skills and had a great time. However, the results were rather one sided with some members taking an early and commanding lead. That is not to say participation was not high! We had over half of the House and Tython Squadron participating which was slightly better than we had anticipated due to the time of year with people going back to school etc.

Look for the closing fiction and awards to be finalized shortly. This event, more importantly, has set the tone for the coming fictional growth of the Clan which clearly is a huge aspect of our road-map of where we are heading. I advise everyone to read the closing fiction when it drops and think how your character fits into such a tight and well scripted narrative.

Going forward, looking to see better participation as we are all back in the full swing of work/school after the Summer months. As always, you get what you put into this organization and we all benefit from the contributions of others. Do not let your brothers and sisters in arms down. I know we can do better and will do better in the future.

Aedile Position Open

It is with sadness that we announce the opening of the Aedile position. Talis stepped up and filled the void when simply put, no one else would. It is no secret that Talis has been a very busy and active member when he had the time to contribute. However, due to work obligations he was often away on duty and could not discharge the duties of the office of Aedile. As such, we are looking for a new member to step up and grow. The position is open to the entire organization, but of course preference is given to Satelites. Deadline for applications is September 16th but may be closed early or extended as need be. Please send applications to me, not looking for a 30-60-90 or anything specific, just give me your ideas for the position and a brief background.

Qualifications are as follows:

• Must be an active member of the DJB

• Must maintain a good turnaround time on communications (email, Telegram, etc.) with 24-hour maximum response time.

• Must promote activity, membership engagement, fictional development, and open lines of communication.

• Must produce competitions, fictional updates, and be comfortable with updating the Wiki page.

• Must present ideas for future growth and development of House Satel Shan.

• No previous leadership experience required, but it will be given preference.

• No minimum rank requirements.

Housekeeping

For full disclosure, I must take the lions share for some of the lack of activity. Due to the somewhat lack of a full participating Summit I did not step into the void as much as needed. As such, going forward I will be taking on some of the Aedile duties until everything is straightened out. What this means, in detail, is that in future reports the traditional full listing of promotions, awards, and transfers will be listed in spotlight.

Also, going forward, I will be holding Summit members to a higher standard and not allow such periods of “lag” to go tolerated. We owe it to the membership to be leading from the front. If we do not, you will not. As I always say, you get what you put into this club. We are all aware that the next generation of leaders are needed to step up and grow. Likewise, I need to be on the look for my eventual replacement. I urge anyone who wishes to lead and step up to email me, hit me up on Telegram etc. and talk about it.

Closing

This report has come out very early for the month intentionally. This is meant to be another reset in a way. A reset of your expectations of the Quaestorship and a reset of my requirements to you all. Again, let us grow and work together and prepare for hard work and more fun ahead. The Clan Summit has big plans, and it requires us all to be rowing in the same direction.

My final word is this, if you want to grow nothing is stopping you but you. I learned this the hard way recently and will take it as a way to be a better leader.
