Xen recently made the decision to step down from his role after 6 years at the helm of the Clan as Consul. This marks the end of an era… and the beginning of a new one. What we should not forget - ever - is the sacrifice he has made on our behalf to protect and nurture our Clan. Without him, we simply would not be where we are today. He laughed when I first told him this, but in a very real way Xen is to Scholae Palatinae as Jac is to the Brotherhood. Despite all odds, he stuck to his convictions and shepherded this group of individuals in the best way he knew how. And, now, he gets to revel in his creation - the Caperion System - in his momentary retirement.
Several of us were given the honor to contribute to Xen’s Amethyst Kukri recommendations. And I did my best to speak on behalf of House Excidium for our thanks:
One of the hardest things about being Consul is that you are always somewhat apart from the group. You speed through a day that is outlined by your to-do list; a list that is often things that need to be done opposed to things you would like to do. You are always in motion and you see the day through snapshots - a friend saying hello or wave in greeting that you were too late to see and could not return. And so many times you want to stop and reach out, to connect. But the job does not allow it. Not until it concludes.
Xen served as Consul of Scholae Palatinae. And, as Consul, you are allowed to pick your ‘Tyrant’ name - an old tradition amongst the Consuls - that reflects your most endearing quality (but in a negative, Sith manner). Xen chose the title ‘The Manipulative’ for himself and I think it fits perfectly. It was never the style or the words that he used to make a difference: it was the content. He wasn’t a manipulator, but he communicated great things that became the heart of a great clan - shaping our experience, our wisdom, and our belief in the principles that established this Clan. He helped Scholae Palatinae rediscover its values and common sense.
Common sense told us that our story had grown stale, so Xen forged a new path into a new system to give us life again. Common sense told us that leaders could unlock growth, so he entrusted his Clan to capable hands over six years and prospered for it. Common sense told us it was time to let him rest, so we stand here - united - in our belief that what he did, he did well and made each of us better for it. And let me offer lesson number one about Scholae Palatinae: all great change here begins talking ‘together’. So tomorrow, I hope the talking begins. I hope that our veterans share what it means to be part of this great Clan. And I hope that if they do not, that our youngest members challenge them on it. It would be a very Scholae Palatinae thing to do. A thing Xen has taught us to do over a lifetime of service.
You did it, Xen. You weren’t just counting the days. You made a difference. You made the Clan stronger, the culture freer, and you left it in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all. So, as you ride off into the sunset, I say goodbye, bless the Xen-peror, and bless Clan Scholae Palatinae.

This week’s focus article is the planet of Balaerion in the Caperion System.
A small, icy planet furthest from the star, Caperion. This planet most famously known for being home to the maximum security prison owned by the Meraxis Empire. A planet frozen (-233 celsius) on the surface appears frozen in orbit, as well. With a rotation around the star once every 42 years, the planet also boasts a sluggish rotation for a single day of 150 hours. This planet only houses political prisoners of the Meraxis Empire. It is rumored that the Executor of House Excidium hopes to find potential allies with strong dislike of Meraxis within the confines of the Balaerian Detenion Centre.
Next week, we will be exploring a specific planet and some key features!
This week’s resource article details the Brotherhood’s Fist-O-Matic.
Some of the most popular activity in our club is gaming. And an essential part of gaming is keeping it fair for everyone involved. To that end, we have created a DB Gaming Telegram Channel that allows for players to pool together to establish matches, join the queue, and build rapport with their fellow gamers. Their most vital tool - from seasoned Jedi Academy (JA) players to Pazaak players - is the use of the Fist-o-Matic bot. Created by the Seneschal, this manages the queue - or order - in which people play head-to-head (or “PVP”) in our club. This will become a vital necessity as we approach the Great Jedi War that will require members to queue through the bot prior to playing matches.
Additionally, some forms of activity will only reward Clusters of Fire or Clusters of Earth if, and only if, you queue through the Fist-O-Matic and report your scores through the Fist-O-Matic. So take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the b0t in the coming weeks!
As I continue to rewrite the House Wiki Page, I will share tidbits with you here. I always want to be transparent to the changes happening in the House. This will allow me share what is in my mind (and heart) with you and solicit your feedback. As always, if you see something that is incorrect, something that does not add up, or have a strong opinion (for or against)... be sure to share that with me ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]). I value each individual’s insight and ideas for the future direction and development of our House.
Raider II-class Corvette Excidium
The Caperion System
On the deck of the Excidium, flagship of the House fleet, acting commander Captain Malice responded to the hailing frequency coming from the VT-49 Decimator Vae Victus. “This is Malice,” he said into his comlink. “I await your orders, Lord Jorm.”
“Whoa! Easy with the Lordship-stuff,” the Kiffar replied in staged shock, “It’s just Jorm.”
Malice hesitated for only a second before answering. He rarely communicated with the Force Users of House Excidium, but on occasion it did happen. And with the security encryption on the equipment, it was virtually impossible for anyone else to tap into the frequency. The message had to be coming from the House, which meant he really was speaking to one of the Lords of the House.
“Forgive me, Just Jorm,” he apologized with a tone of amusement. “What are your orders?”
“An updated Status Report would be nice.”
“Unchanged,” he replied, his voice sharp with military precision and efficiency. “The strike force is ready. We are awaiting orders to make the jump.”
“Engage,” came a third voice from aboard the Marauder-class Corvette Dagger.
“Pardon?” Malice asked, so surprised that he momentarily forgot whom he was speaking to.
“You heard me, Captain,” the casual voice of Alara Deathbane, Aedile of House Excidium, on the other end commanded. “It is go-time.”
“As you command, Lady Alara,” he answered. “We will make the micro-jump in sixty seconds.”
Thank you for everyone that provided feedback on the House logo; especially to our resident Dark Jedi Master Natth a’Niel Palpatine who provided a third option and some very engaging dialogue about how he interpreted the art of each separate piece. We received 9 votes for Option A, 2 votes for Option B, and 2 votes for Option C. With that portion concluded, we will advance the logo to the Clan Summit for approval. Once we have their blessing, Vyr can finally close our project on his task board (a day he awaits with great pleasure)!
Please be sure to continue to carve your initials into this House. As we reshape and redefine our reality, you will have unique opportunities to create lore for Excidium. Already, we have seen some excellent contributions from Xantros and Jorm concerning the story of our House. I hope that all of you will take a look at Operation: Sleeping Dragon as we prepare the next Mission where you can help pen our next Fiction Update for the House! We need all of the ideas and imagery we can get our hands on. Don’t sleep on this event as you can write yourself into the story in a big way!
Have a great week, Excidium. I cannot wait to see what you do in the coming days!
I am, your servant,
Braecen Kaeth
Quaestor of Excidium
