Oh! Hi! I didn’t see you there. Come in. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Thran.

Before we get into the pleasantries, I wanted to take a moment to extend a thank you to a few people. Thank you to Bubba and Atra for giving me the opportunity to serve our community as Regent. I am honored to be in this position.

I also want to thank Anubis for his years of service, guidance, and patience over the years. Serving as his Praetor was an absolute pleasure. Anubis gave me all the tools to be in this very position, addressing you all. I am forever indebted to him for taking a risk on a loud mouthed Imperial. Thank you my friend.

Who am I?

Some of you may know me already, others may not, so I thought it might be a good idea to reach out with a little introduction.

I’m Thran. I’ve been a member of the DJB for almost 20 years. Started in Clan Exar Kun, which later became a part of Clan Plagueis. Moved to Clan Scholae Palatinae and have called that home since then. Been Consul a couple of times. I’ve been around, but never made the leap to the Council.

I was Praetor to the Regent under Anubis for almost three years. During that time we developed a very good working relationship. My duties had me involved in the Regent’s office at every level. I had a hand in just about everything you’ve seen out of the Regent’s office during that time. Working so closely with the previous Regent has given me a comprehensive knowledge of possessions. Ergo, Bubba and Atra’s decision to appoint me. That’s the gist of my resume.

I like TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers and I cannot lie. The Ships of Star Wars are what kindled my fandom. If you wanna nerd out about ships, that’s my jam.

Alot of what you can expect from me in the Regent’s office will have shades of how Anubis ran things. With that said, and Anubis would concur, he and I didn’t always agree on everything. We’re different people, with different approaches to things. That said, one area that we align on is that everything we do is for you, the members of DB. Who’s your Character.

Some of you might be curious…So, here you go. My chosen PC space wizard is a puckish, vain, and borderline narcissistic schemer. He started life on Bakura, an outer-rim Planet near Endor, as Derc Alphons Kast (his birth name). His father Callus Kast was an Imperial Scientist, who sadly lost his life at the hands of the dastardly Rebel Alliance at the Battle of Endor. The rest of Thran’s story is so muddled up with lies and deception, it’s hard to tell what actually happened.

However, what we do know is that prior to joining the Brotherhood, Thran began an illustrious career as a male model. During his career with the Brotherhood, he earned the moniker “The Usurper”, due in part to a long history of his direct superiors disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Some years later, under the directive of GM Muz, Thran was planted into the entertainment industry to siphon money to fund the Brotherhood’s plans. During that time, he fell in love with the limelight and conveniently “forgot” he was on a mission. He’s widely regarded as an incredible actor, albeit a bit of a prima donna. After starring in many Action, Comedy, and Rom-Com holofilms, he returned to the Brotherhood.

As a character, Thran is INCREDIBLY fun to write. He’s basically a mashup of Sterling Archer, from the eponymous show Archer, Derek Zoolander, Tom Cruise, and Johnny Cage.

The Future of the Regency

I don’t have a whole lot to tease right now. But, here’s a brief insight on where my focus will be.

As I’m sure many of you are aware, A few months back we did a little test launch of the Crafting system we’ve been working on. The scope of crafting is absolutely gargantuan. Personally, I have been working on it for over 18 months. So, this is going to be the Regent’s Office primary focus until we can get it released. However, there are going to be some changes to what presently exists.

We gathered some feedback after that test launch and we are taking your words to heart. We heard you. We’re taking action on what you shared with us. Our goal is to deliver an awesome, easy and fun to use system to you. Our test fell a little short of that mark.

One key area that we fell short was on the user experience portion of crafting. It’s kind of clunky, not super easy to navigate through, and frankly just doesn’t hit those parts of the brain that make you wanna come back for more. So, as Regent, I will personally be investing in delivering a final product that corrects those problems. It will take time. There is sooooo much to do.

My focus on an improved User Experience is going to extend beyond Crafting to a broader scope and be interwoven into the very fabric of the entire possessions system. I’ll be looking to increase ease of use, efficiency, and overall visual appeal of our system.

That’s all I really have to share right now. Eventually I’ll get the formatting and markdown code written for nice clean reports. Bear with me until then.
