Hello everyone,
Welcome to my very first report as Regent of the Brotherhood! This report will mainly consist of a brief introduction of who I am, some position postings for the Regent Staff, and outline my most immediate plans for the possessions system once I have a full staff as we continue towards the second half of this year, 2021.
First things first...
Many of you know me as Anubis, or Nihlus. While Regent, I'll be using my alt, a Mandalorian name Zxyl Venzos Taldrya, but will still be going by my handle Anubis on Telegram. For those of you who don't know me, I've been a member of the club for fourteen years this July, and have severed in every Clan leadership position except Consul, as well as Wiki Tribune and Praetor in two different DC offices (Voice and Regent). I've spent the last almost two years working alongside the previous Regent-now-Justicar, Atra, learning the ins and outs of the staff and the intention of the system as designed by its original progentiors so that I can better serve the membership and provide the best experience possible for you guys. That being said, I will still be relying on both of my predecessors as the valuable resource they are to ensure that the information being passed to you is consistent. While some things may deviate, I'm a big fan of consistency.
On the personal side: I'm a married dad of two kids under two, Mav(erick) (he's actually not the worst) and Austyn. They're amazing kids. I have two jobs; I'm a roofing shingler by day, and on... well, other days... I have the opportunity to travel to different mine sites around Canada (and eventually the world, once COVID-19 lets up) re-lining the inside of their mills. Both jobs eat up about 10-12 hours of my day, so if you don't hear from me immediately, don't fret; you shall receive an answer. Jumping the gun on my next paragraph, this is why it's always best to use the Regent Staff mailing list if you've got any questions or concerns.
Here's the deal. The door to the Regent Staff is always open. While you can private message me on Telegram at @thewildcanuck if it's something that requires a really quick back-and-forth, my main preference for important/system stuff (like every other Dark Council staff) is that you email the entire Regent Staff at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] so that:
With my ascension to Regent, we now have an additional opening on the staff. I am immediately opening up applications for three potential positions; one Praetor, and two Magistrates. Following in the steps of Atra's first-round draft picks for Regent Staff, should no applicant really wow me, I will only be hiring two Magistrates for the time being, with the option to become Praetor down the line available to a staff member that proves themself. Although his term was up a while back, I've decided to keep Farrin on as a staff member until such a time as we get our new Regent Staff applicants trained up on proper queue management and the policies and procedures we follow on the Regent Staff, If no Praetor was chosen, then I will open up his slot as well for Magistrate applications.
I will keep applications open for these positions for roughly one week. If you'd like to apply, you can visit this Google Form link (thanks Justinios, and by extension BubbaX) and submit your application by end of day (site reset) next Sunday, April 18th, while reserving the option to extend if I think there will be a wider applicant pool. Do not send applications to me directly or to the Regent Staff mailing list, as these will not be counted. Anyone is both eligible and welcome to apply, with the exception of current Dark Council Staff Assistants. We've had a lot of changes recently on the Dark Council, and stability right now across the DC is important. I encourage anyone interested in these positions to apply. They're very fulfilling, and it involves a lot more than just queue management. While everyone on the Regent Staff has a voice, and I encourage them to use it and not be afraid to go against the grain and refuse to be "yes (wo)men" as I was, the Regent Staff needs people who can be trusted to do the work they're assigned.
Magistrates on the Regent Staff have the opportunity to design and create insane content for the entire membership to use, and it's a valuable insider learning experience for those who are interested in possibly pursuing Regent one day... And you get to cry at how insignificant your credit accounts are compared to the clans. I'm going to specifically be looking for staff members that wish to be part of the conversation and aren't afraid to let their voice be known, are interested in project work (because we have a lot of that going on), and above all else are interested in consistently working. A basic comprehension of how Google Sheets/Excel works would be fantastic, but not totally necessary, as 99% of our work is completed in Google Sheets.
All applicants will be run past the GM (Evant) and DGM (BubbaX) for consistent and proper oversight.
My most immediate plans for Regent are to finish up the existing projects started under Evant and Atra, before we branch out into new and exciting territory. This means (as Atra stated in his last report, "BEHOLD! My Stuff!") that we're moving our focus away from item releases for the time being, and instead focusing on finishing up item upgrades that Evant initially started and clan assets project that Atra initially started. This will also allow some new content to come into through all the upcoming media Disney has planned. During the lame-duck period without a full Regent, I was plugging away consistently on the next big set of upgrades: Weapons.
Due to the sheer volume and different categories of weapons we have available in the system, we're still at least a month or two off (possibly longer, depending on review time and the new staff members, so don't hold me to it) from this becoming a reality, but we are making cracking progress. Several item upgrade categories have had initial lists done, so it's coming along well so far. I'm hoping to get the new staff on this project ASAP so we can expand the initial lists already completed, and get several reviews done before forwarding it off for GM/DGM oversight and then implementing. Like other upgrades, it means for the most part that the custom item aspects will no longer be available. Not to worry though, as I've made it a point to include as many of the existing and feasible modification aspects in the initial upgrade lists as possible, and members will have the opportunity once these upgrades launch to suggest new upgrades as they can with starships and droids.
At some point in the future (either prior to or during work on armor upgrades), we will push out a secondary list of starship upgrades based on those found in Star Wars: Squadrons. That's right, you'll be able to send those missiles back to whence they came. When Armor upgrades are completed, we'll focus on evaluating which way to go for Land Vehicle upgrades; either a process similar to Starship Upgrades, or other item upgrades like Droids, Weapons, and Armor.
Atra gave hints to this project during one of his previous reports. While still in the conceptual planning phase, this project is focusing exclusively on providing the seven clans some sweet and hawt new loot to spend their hard-earned and vendetta award credits on. The current scope includes everything from bases and military installations, to planet-side base defenses, spaceborne planetary defenses, and new space stations. I'm incredibly excited to really get this one off the ground and get some serious progress on it, though I can't propose a timetable for when we might see it come to fruition, as I'd like the staff's main focus to be cleaning up and finishing up item upgrades because that is the oldest project currently on the books.
This is all just what I have planned over the next several months. There's a lot more to come, and I can't wait for the staff to push past these existing projects and start carving out new territory for the possessions system.
Overall, I'm proud to say that I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Dark Council, and getting to work alongside the other offices in a greater capacity to provide you all with the best experience and content possible. I can't promise everyone will be happy, but my promise to you is this: I will do and propose what I feel is the best possible solution to any given problem for the majority of the club, regardless of perception. It's possible I will solicit feedback, it's possible I won't solicit any at all.
Thank you for reading and remember: any questions relating to the Possessions system, item mechanics, or features can be emailed to Regent Staff at [Log in to view e-mail addresses].

Yay more Application Forms.
Very good.
Did I hear weapon upgrades and clan assets? Don’t mind if I do...
Great first report, Anubis. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
Idris better be careful, there's another Mando on the Council now. ;)
Congratulations, Noobis, and awesome first report!
Looking forward to the good things you’ll bring to the table!
