Regent Report #2.1

Introduction

Hello friends! I have a very short announcement/report for you today. The Regent’s office is changing a few little details, but they have big impacts!

Cybernetics

hand

Since I have been working in the Regent’s Office, I’ve come to learn a lot about the Possessions System. One thing that has never sat right with me is how Cybernetics work. In short, that is because they don’t.

Presently, a cybernetic implant is just a one to one replacement for a character's body part. You spend 50 credits, then have to write a description that you’ve likely already written on your character sheet.

We don’t look at a cybernetic as separate from the individual character that is using it. For all intents and purposes, those items are a part of the individual that are attached to. They don’t really do anything beyond being a mechanical version of the individual’s body part. So, in that regard, they should be treated as a part of the character. It doesn’t make a lot of sense as a function of the possessions system.

I am sure many of you would like to have cybernetics that perform alternate functions beyond being replacement parts. Sadly, that is not what I am announcing today.

Instead, I am removing this little bit of redundancy. There is no practicality in Cybernetics falling under possessions and having you all write descriptions twice. So, I have made the decision that Cybernetics will no longer be featured in possessions. All Cybernetics will fall under the Character Sheet and Voice Policies.

What does this mean for you going forward?

  • Cybernetics will no longer be available for purchase
  • You may still sell your cybernetics to the store and receive a refund of cash (the 50 credits they initially cost)
  • All Future Cybernetics aspects will be denied.
  • All Future Cybernetics descriptions will be located on your Character Sheet descriptions. So you may want to update your descriptions if you don’t already mention the cybernetic appearance. The same rules regarding lack of functionality will apply there, they are still just replacement parts.

In light of many users losing the functionality of the Cybernetics slot in our Loadouts, I offer up a trade. Since we are removing a slot, I have decided that the former cybernetics slot shall be replaced with an additional technology slot. This change will be made in 2 weeks time. Any load outs with cybernetics still in them will be rendered invalid at that time.

Aspect Policy Updates

My faithful Praetor, at my direction, has made some updates to the Aspect Approval Policies. These aren’t major changes, but we hope they clarify some things for you as you submit future aspects for approval.

Of note, we have added clarification to the Aspect Approval Policy that Cosmetic aspects should describe the base item, without upgrades. As many of our upgrades are in the form of aspects, describing these upgrades in the cosmetic section can lead to some trickeration. It is a small clarification, but we felt it was best.

The other updates are mostly updating and unifying verbiage with the Herald’s toolkit and providing some additional examples for Lightsabers and Robes Aspects.

I don’t have much more for you today. Don’t worry though, I have Korv and Teebu hard at work in the mines drafting up our next big changes. Stay tuned until then!

Interesting change, don't mind a tech slot.

TT-TT I'm going to keep my invalid loadout 4evah! Like not washing a jersey I stole from some football dude.

Jk, this is pretty neat and makes sense even if I love the stylish cybernetic arm pic. Eager to see what tech I can dabble there

Makes sense, if only because the actual cybernetic image always looked like an arm, even when your aspect was an eye, or something else XD
