Well Done on the War!

We, as a Clan and as a Team, have a lot to be proud of right now. Based on pure metrics, we are one of the most active and committed Clans and we have fielded a really fantastic effort in this War. Thank you to each of you for putting in all the effort you could!

Despite having only a few members, each of us with busy lives, we managed to contribute 53 submissions to the Clan’s war effort, with each of us (not on leave) contributing! This is a very positive result for us, and I look forward to having a nice long list of awards in my next report!

Yes, I’m a HIMYM fan.

So who is this crazy person thanking you for your war efforts? I am Darcy Avarik, your new Battle Team Leader. I have gone by a variety of names, but am most well known as Denath Ciarus, my email and telegram handle (denathciarus). My dossier is 307 for anyone wanting to check it out. I am available almost every night (EDT), typically ranging from approx 4pm to 8am EDT (I’m actually Zulu/UTC+10 / Melbourne, Australia).

I come to this team with years of experience as a Tetrarch / Battle Team Leader, Aedile, Quaestor and a six month stint as Consul of Arcona. My most recent leadership role was a failed stint as Quaestor of Hoth.

I am a very fiction and story-driven writer, and I specialize in character and story development. I hope that everyone will be able to benefit from the energy, enthusiasm and content that I will be bringing to this table :)

I will be doing most of my in-character leadership from Darcy’s perspective. He is a former slave, a smuggler, and a gifted talker who can talk himself into and out of all kinds of trouble (loosely based on Captain Jack Sparrow). My current alternate is D’hak, who is more of a wacky, just for fun character that isn’t likely to appear in too many serious contexts :P

So, that is me. But what about my plans?

Where Do We Go From Here?

Yes, I’m also a Buffy fan.

My goal for Saxon is to be focused on fiction competitions and storylines that will cater to the writers in our Clan by providing a niche environment that people will want to be a part of.

Fictionally, Saxon would be trying to grow Vizsla’s influence and fame by being the face for legitimate organizations to contract Vizsla; while other elements of the Clan may be more focused on the criminal underworld or operating in the shadows, we would be a legitimate team that handles contact with public corporations and entities.

Instead of operating out of taverns and bars, we might have a yacht; instead of stealing for ourselves or a hidden client, we might be commissioned by part of a big bucks corporation. Instead of working exclusively in the Outer Rim or Wild Space, we would be mobile and more likely to deal with planets and organizations throughout the Core sectors.

For example, we may hear that Kuat Drive Yards wishes to have a shipment of coaxium protected. We might claim we can do a better job than their current security team, and make an offer. We might then “borrow” and smuggle the coaxium ourselves to keep it in the right hands; have a guard duty / escort party; or, we might investigate and hunt down a criminal element trying to hijack the coaxium.

We would also have competition, maybe in the form of criminal organizations trying to steal the coaxium; another freelance group who think they can do a better job than us; or, the actual security force that we claim we can do a better job than.

Early on, my intention is to have Darcy pick up or hear of contracts and deals going on, then he’d be hiring Saxon members to complete the contracts. As we grow larger, we’d purchase a Team ship as a mobile base of operations, and I’d scale our storylines to rely more on teamwork.

Please note that while these are my current plans, they will change and evolve as we get closer to achieving House status. Plans will change, the scale that we operate on will change, and the way I lead will also change as I seek to develop the leadership team that Saxon will need when we become a House.
