The Quaestor looked out over the mountains through the snow that had been falling all day. He stood on the balcony of his quarters on top of the mountain, oblivious to the cold in his robes, cloak and hood. He was in a typically dark mood, though perhaps worse than usual. He could sense betrayal, and it put a cold fury within him.

He turned as he heard a noise behind him, and observed the protocol droid standing nervously in his room. “Your guests are here, Quaestor.”

He stepped through the open door. “Show them in.”

He took his place at the small table as three figures entered the room. Deckard Kaelen, First Minister of the Aeotheran Government, Commodore Auturra Krill, commander of the Shar Dakhan fleet, and Lt Colonel Kala Miros, who held the same role with the ground forces. Each had two things in common. They were the highest rank in their respective area, and they owed their appointment to the current leader of the House and its territory.

“Be seated,” the Quaestor ordered. He turned to the minister. “Report.”

Deckard Kaelen wiped his eyes wearily. “It is as we feared Quaestor” he replied, “Esk Sector has declared independence. They have closed all routes into the main hub and are now refusing entrance, until we negotiate terms with them.”

“What is the atmosphere within the settlement?” the Quaestor asked.

Commodore Krill spoke up, “Our overhead surveillance reports the mood to be one of celebration,” he said quietly, “most of the citizens seem to support the rebellion. Anyone who does not is remaining quiet or has fled.”

“There is a worse matter, Quaestor,” Kala Miros added, “intelligence suggests the majority of the local Aeotheran Security Force have joined the rebellion. There has been sporadic fighting with the minority who stayed loyal..”

“Can your forces retake the sector Colonel?” Minister Kaelen asked.

She considered it. “Not easily,” she replied with a glance at the Commodore, “there are just over ninety thousand citizens in the sector, and around a thousand former ASF personnel. They will hold out against any bombardment hoping other sectors will join them.” Commodore Krill nodded in agreement with her words.

“That can not be allowed,” the Quaestor replied, “we have invested too much stabilising this world and making it profitable for traitors to destroy that. We must take direct action to lance this.”

Introduction

Hello House Shar Dakhan

How are you all doing? I'm doing well. Still working from home, which I'm used to now. Looking forward to my holidays in a few months. Travelling abroad is still a bit up and down, so got a week near Inverness in Scotland in October and another in Cornwall in December, pretty much at the opposite ends of Britain. Looking forward to them immensely. Also doing lots of DB fiction comps and picking up some crescents along the way. Trying to get rank XII of the Inquisitorius by the end of the year, and got seven hundred points to go.

I hope you're all up to nice stuff either within or without the DB. Myself and the rest of the House and Clan Summit are always around in Telegram and now Discord (more about that later) if you need help or to discuss any ideas . Anyway, on with the report.

So What's Been Happening?

Since my last report the Right of Supremacy came and went, and I hope those of you who took part enjoyed it. Personally I got to meet some nice people I've never even heard of before from other Clans and write with some of them, which was nice. I also spent weeks of obsessive button pressing, and though I lost the second one on the last day, I was very happy with my Silver Nova I hope the rest of you who took part enjoyed it as well.

Our Consul has already covered this in his report, but well done to all the Shar Dakhan members who recently received awards following the RoS, including Dark Crosses for Malik Sadow, Sanguinius Tsucrya Entar, Jashashi "Vesh" Zaes, and Jinius Griffin, and an Anteian Cross for Etah Obsidian, and last but definatley not least a Steel Cross for Raistlin Sadow. Well done to all of you and much deserved!

Additionally as you may have heard or noticed we have a new Aedile in Shar Dakhan. Following the closure of the Clan Rollmaster post, Tasha'Vel Versea has agreed to take over from Sanguinius. I would both like to welcome Tasha to HSD and thank Sanguinius for his work as Aedile.

I would also like to congratulate Sanguinius on his appointment to the Star Chamber, working with the current and past Grand Masters and other Elders from the Clan on looking at the future of the Brotherhood and issues affecting it. It is a great honour and one that he has definitely earned.

In addition the Dark Brotherhood is moving over from Telegram to Discord as the primary chat function for all general and Clan chats, and this is now up and running. Below is a link to the main article concerning it and some information on how to get involved. If you join and verify your user you should be able to link to the correct DB and Clan channels. Though the article mentions a 1st October offical move over, many people have already joined Discord and its getting busier as Telegram gets quieter.

Competitions

As you are hopefully aware, the Pro Bowl is happening in a few weeks and it ought to be another great chance to take part and interact with others both within our Clan and with the rest of the Brotherhood. I am looking forward to this and myself and the rest of the Summit will be keeping you up to date as we learn more about it.

In addition to that the competitions page is full of great comps of all types so there's always something to get on with for those who want to and pick up some crescents, credits and society points.

Fiction Update

I've talked in the past about a fictional expansion of our population on Aeotheran, from where it was of being around a million to a more significant figure that matched our needs to support not only our own Shar Dakhan forces but the wider Clan military, both in providing personnel and resources to support them. Following some discussions with the HSD and wider Clan Summit I've been doing some work on the wiki to begin this process. Therefore:

The principle city of Seng Karash now has approximatley 3,000,000 citizens from its previous very small 300,000. We'll be looking at the city in the future to see how it can be changed to reflect this. Fictionally this is not a sudden leap it reflects decades of development and population increase.

The second city of Kel Rasha has now similarly increased to 1,250,0000, and again we can look on how to expand it fictionally into a much more detailed city.

The mining cloud city of San Korinar has increased from 450,000 to 500,000. This is a much smaller increase as the size of the facility can not be realistically expanded that much.

Myrmidon, the previous home of the Devils Shroud and now home to both the house's ground forces and the civilian Aeotheran Security Force has increased from 15,000 to 100,000 citizens to reflect its more important role in our House's fictional status.

The previously closed Lor Zatean holiday resort and ourexperimental city, The Gilded Archipelago have been reopened and following a year of development now have a population of 100,000 each. Both of these are ongoing and I would like to add to them both in the coming months to make them more diverse and interesting.

Finally the Aeotheran page mentioned a smaller number of population centres across the planet. These are going to develop into a network of individual mining sectors, like the one that got blown up in the above fiction, that spread our population across the planet and make up roughly half of the population. We need to expand on the detail of these to make them more detailed and interesting.

The above changes increase our population across Aeotheran and San Korinar to roughly 10,000,000 which isn't the finished population but greatly expands it. This is by no means a finished project and will see more work in the future.
