Sector Five
Refuge
Somewhere Along The Daragon Trail
Chemlos Dak looked out of the viewport at hyperspace moving past. Due to the sheer size of the station exterior quarters were a luxury, but as she was one of the sectors most powerful bosses she had her pick of this area. She turned to her lieutenant. “We ought to be stopping again soon Vilthas,” she commented, “have our people ready to move out. We’re near Orian.”
The twilek glanced at his datapad, focusing on the light of the screen in the dark quarters. “We might have to be careful here boss,” he replied, “the Collective might be gone but whoever has moved in there seems to be turning the screw on lucrative opportunities.”
Chemlos smiled, though it added little warmth to her Umbaran features. “They will be like anyone else, on the outside severe and confident of their defences, but on the inside as weak and decadent as anyone else. A few bribes and threats and our product will move as easily there as elsewhere.”
Vilthas nodded and left. Chemlos turned back to the viewport through the tinted glass. There was a shudder as the immense station slowed and returned to normal space. A few moments later she could make out a flotilla of ships waiting to dock, and others leaving the station for the local sectors. Her own would be on their way.
Malvic was bored. He made his way along the corridor of sector five, his blaster rifle held in his hand as the few servants of their gang moved aside as he passed. Many of the gang’s people had departed on the shuttles and he had wanted to go with them, at least to get himself away from the station and in some fresh air. He did not usually complain, the pay was good, Chemlos Dak rewarded her people well, but he wanted a change, maybe some mercenary work that would take him elsewhere.
He passed through a doorway, and stopped at a noise nearby, and looked around at the chamber he had entered. There were several shelves with boxes and jars of various substances. The room appeared empty. Curiously he walked amongst the shelves, keeping his finger on his trigger. There was nothing of interest. He frowned, and then turned back to leave. Then he stopped. Stood in the doorway was a female figure, in black and blue mottled armour. As Malvic raised the rifle her hand rose and the weapon was wrenched from his grip to land in hers, and as he gasped in surprise she casually brought he heavy weapon round to smash into his face.
Kristeva dumped the unconsious body in the corner behind the shelves, tied his hands with cables, and then made her way out of the storeroom. She spoke quietly into her helmet. “Perimeter guard one neutralised Aedile.”
Hey everyone. This is my latest report hope you all enjoy it. As it write this in my cell, or at least the one bedroom flat I'm spending lockdown in, it's a dull but mild Monday afternoon and drizzling a bit outside. There's all sort of speculation about 'roadmaps' back to normal life or rather what normal life used to be before the last twelve months, so have to see what happens there. I hope the rest of you are managing alright with it all.
Also following a bit of a DB Valheim craze over the last week I'm trying to get to grips with it as it looks like it might have some good co op socialising in future. If anyone has seen pictures of the Millenium Falcon or High Hrothgar buildings people have created, so far I've managed a small hut with a bed and a hole in the roof for the smoke to get out and the rain get in.
Anyway on with the report.
So we've had some good stuff going on recently. Firstly I was generally pleased with how the Inos Incusion went , thank you to everyone who took part. I think there's some more fun stuff coming up soon, and as I look at my upcoming comps page I can see something called Winter in Orian lurking innocently there starting on Saturday 27th by our Clan Summit, so that ought to be something fun and interesting to have a go at.
Secondly we have a new Grandmaster in waiting, DJM Evant Taelyan. He's written a statement to the members about his plans and future ideas for you to read, and encouraged members to pass any questions via the Consuls you may have such as future developments, fiction, advancement programmes for Journeymen and Equites or similar. So if you want to ask something reply to Bentre's email or send it to the Consul directly.
Also, there's been some awards and promos going on over the last month for Shar Dakhan members.
Firstly congratulations to Mystic Kristeva on her Dark Cross for her ongoing efforts for herself and her Clan, which is very much deserved.
Secondly our newest member, Neophyte Rosh Athan has been moving steadily up the ranks completing Shadow Academy exams, his character sheet and advancement surveys and popping into Telegram to meet us at the weekend. Keep up the good work.
Thirdly well done to Major, I mean Commander, Vosiri Lightcrest on his promotion to the second rank of the Equites for his impressive and consistant amount of hard work over the last few years. It's a huge promo and well deserved.
And fourthly I think I got another email through from the Master at Arms but can't remember what it was about, I'd better check. Ah yeah that was it, your Quaestor himself got promoted to Sith Warlord! Thanks to everyone who wrote recommendations and everyone else who commented on this. Never thought it would happen and very happy.
There may be another few things coming through in the near future but mums the word.
As you will be all be aware following Locke moving to Marka Ragnos, Shar Dakhan legend Malik Sadow has taken over as our BTL. We've had a bit of a discussion about our Battleteam, in terms of whether it's up to date and interesting for the members to feel part of. I think we've reached a consensus that the Disciples of Dakhan could do with a bit of an update.
Firstly the name is a bit generic. As several people have said, the name doesn't really mean much we're all Disciples of Dakhan, or Kressh if you're old like me. We want something relevant and good.
Secondly looking at the link below its fictional role of protectors of knowledge and ancient burial sites doesn't necessarily fit with our image of strong, versatile members of Shar Dakhan serving and protecting our House and Clan Naga Sadow.
Following this Sanguinius, Malik and I want to get a discussion amongst yourselves about how you want your Battleteam to be. There have been many previous ones in Shar Dakhan and our predecessor Ludo Kressh that came and went depending on who was in charge at the time. So that means if we change it into something new I want us all to feel invested in it, so it's something that lasts into the future. To do that I want us all to play a part and have a say in it's development.
The things to consider is the fictional role, whether it's subtly protecting the House and our assets and removing threats, or standing in front of our House forces leading them into battle against the Collective, any interdimensional aliens that show up or whatever else we face, or maybe a bit of both. And also where the members work out of facility wise and what their day to day roles are in it. And finally what name describes all that?
We'll be starting a discussion soon so please join in.
So we did quite a bit on this last summer, with the government, changes to the military and our new headquarters and now we want to have a look at the planet as a whole. I've always liked Aeotheran it's our home and there's some great stuff lots of people have contributed to over the years to enhance it's fictional status.
However its been pointed out recently that our population is a bit on the small side. If you include Seng Karash, Kel Rasha and Myrmidon we have a population of about half a million. Back in the old days this used to be fine. We originally created Seng Karash to help finance the Clan and it's military and keep it supplied with personnel and resources, and then more locations were added later. However that was back when the entire Clan's military was a Strike Cruiser, an Escort Frigate and a transport. If you compare that today with the modern Clan Possessions , including the Dakhan fleet and ground forces, and then add those of House Marka Ragnos, and then zoom out to consider the entire Warhost, you start to realise things need to be on a much larger scale.
This is something we want to develop and grow on, firstly to consider the size of our existing cities and towns with a view to expanding them, but also then looking at the planet as a whole in terms of what smaller but significant population centres we can have across the planet that fit together into a much larger whole that meets the demands of the modern House and Clan and makes our territory more diverse. Like the Battleteam development we'd like people to get involved in envisaging this and making it happen.
In addition our fictional development is fluid and ongoing, so if there's anything existing people think can be improved, doesn't really seem to make sense or needs changing let us know and we'll discuss it and see about making it happen.
