Introduction

Greetings House Shar Dakhan

For us the war is over. We've already had a preliminary update from the Dark Council with some overall participation numbers but I'm sure like me you're all eagerly awaiting the final results to see how we did. I'd like to say how happy I am with your level of participation and enthusiasm to all who participated thank you, and especially well done to Kojiro who is one of only seven members in the Brotherhood (along with our own Consul Bentre) who did all thirty competitions, and also to Sanguinius who got 100% bin completion. Well done to them and to the rest of you. I don't want to try and predict the future but I'm sure once we get the final results they'll be some medals and other rewards heading out in the post.

In the time being I hope you're all managing okay with the ongoing real life situation. Life seems to be returning to normal in some ways, over here in the UK shops, cafes and restaurants have reopened but we have to wear masks on public transport and in shops but it's getting there. I had a great steak dinner in a very nice restaurant last week which was amazing after four months of my own cooking.

A New Aedile

Following recent applications we are pleased to announce Shimura Keibatsu is our new Aedile here in House Shar Dahkan. We had some great applications and thanks to everyone who applied but we feel that he will be a great addition to the Summit and I hope you will all join me in welcoming him to HSD. Again thanks to Xuner for his long service to the House and hanging on until we appointed a replacement.

A New Knight

Congratulations to Dark Jedi Knight Malevek. Please take some time to read the fiction posted by Bentre Malevek is a member who came into CNS and HSD with an amazing level of enthusiasm completing a huge number of SA exams, degrees and competition entries. He also compiled and laid our a wiki article for the Shar Dakhan military forces here which will be a great reference tool for members and which will develop as we hopefully expand our forces and develop their fictional role.

Battleteam News

There has been some discussion recently regarding the role of our BT the Disciples of Dakhan. When I returned to CNS from the rogues in 2018 it struck me that with the size of the modern house the battleteams did not quite seem to have the same level of relevance as they once did. They felt a bit like a member bin we put our active members in similar to the ones we keep our possessions in, and not quite reaching their potential.

So after some discussion with the Clan Summit and our existing Battleteam leader Locke I would like to propose a change to how the BT here in HSD works. Rather than just being an extra tier in the house I would like to link it by activity by devising a scoring system where we give points to every BT member for every new SA exam they pass, competition they enter, crescents and novas they win and every cluster gained in gaming or other activity. And then after an agreed time period the highest scorer would be the new Battleteam leader.

To get your feelings on this myself and your new AED will be starting a discussion with yourselves about how we can fairly balance the scoring system, about how long the Battleteam leader term should be to both make it worthwhile for the winner and also keep it fresh for everyone, and whether we should have a new BT with a new name and fictional status to reflect the change. I hope this is something you all can get on board with and make work.

House Wiki Changes

So I announced in my last report that I want to press on with updating this. I've already done some tidying up prior to the GJW and as above Malevek has got the military side off the ground but now we've all got more time I want to press on with this. We have a lot of fictional wiki stuff relating to the house and Aeotheran and Inos such as Myrmidion, The Gilded Archipelago, Lor Zatean, The Bastion, Pandaemonium and others and this is the time to look at each and see if it needs updating to be more up to date or if it got destroyed by the Collective and can be replaced with something new you come up with.

I would also like to start designing our official house headquarters as when Marakith was brought back it was only intended to be a temporary option. We've got a blank slate here we can have pretty much anything, palace by the sea, base under the sea, asteroid base, ewok style tree village, the options are all there. And we an also expand our official mining and production on the planet and surrounding areas to make it more of a money spinner and give us some scope for fictional development.

Competitions

We've already got some basic competitions for you to have a go at. I appreciate many of you will be competitioned out following the GJW but give them a go it would be good to get some entries.

I want to get in the habit of releasing several competitions a month, and though the above are fairly basic I want to start gearing them towards the sort of things people want to do. If you want classic hack and slash fictions or ones where you deal with deep seated past issues or complex moral dilemmas we can do that. I need to figure out how to create a jigsaw comp as though I personally hate them they're nice fun comps for some of you, and following the codebreaker style comps in the GJW we could do with finding some more challenging ones like that. Also following the success of the recent Hearthstone and HoTs comps we want more of that as well. Finally I'm planning something big hopefully for later in the year. The only thing I can say so far is Inos.

It's an impressive list and shows two things. Firstly you've all been very busy, and secondly it's been too long since my last report. Anyway well done everyone.

Final Thoughts

So that is all from me for now. As I said once the final results of the Great Jedi War are out we'll be announcing who did what for that and hopefully getting some rewards out. In the time being I hope for those of you who got this far it got you interested in some of the future things we're planning.
