Here we go again!

A lot has happened since we last checked in, today I just want to cover some of our recent news, some of the club wide as well as some intel before the war in a couple weeks. First I'd like to just say a big old well done to everyone that kicked some butt over in the Pro-Bowl. It was great to see so many people chatting and meeting people they hadn't before. Even if the Loth Cats lost, I guess we can still call it a good time.

War!

First and foremost, as posted recently by the MAA, there will be a transfer ban from the 19th of August. You can still rogue out in this time period but you will be in the clan you are currently in for the duration of the war from that date.

Secondly, fiction. Many of you guys may have minimal idea as to who the Children of Mortis are. And to put it simply, they're a large organisation made up of 3 factions. In the same way our Aurora Collegium has 3 societies that have different foci, the CoM have 3 factions that have differing goals/ideals/styles. Their whole shtick is breaking the chains on Force Users and freeing them. They've created crystal monstrosties and have access to these strange portals that lead into the Etheral Realm, a place we've barely begun to access but may be integral to the upcoming conflict.

The Voice office has been releasing fictional updates, you could find this scrolling in the announcements channel in Discord or through using the filters on the news archives, in both specifically looking for the titles Galactic Happenings. These include updates on other factions as well but I do have a TLDR of them for you. I apologise to Idris in advance for this.

The TLDR

1) A previous Grandmaster of the Dark Brotherhood taunts current GM Evant, as he fails at making the same portals the CoM used to escape the previous war. Despite the CoM presence seemingly reducing, war is on the horizon.

2) The Tenxir Revenants, a group of pirates that are seeking a more stable lifestyle post gaining their freedom a few years ago, are having leadership issues. They meet with a client who is of the Collective, unknowing of our history with the Force hating technology babes, and have signed a contract.

3) The Collectives leader went all tech priest, or.. Matrix. He has integrated with the web. Due to the Collective being aggravated by this, he has been forced out the man cave. During this time, they've made even better cybernetics than what they used to wield. He sends a message to his brother, who had joined the CoM last war, threatening to kill him for being Force User.

4) The Severian Principate, a faction we're allied with and run an area of the galaxy, is doing well. They've off loaded military assets to us in an effort become more humanitarian based. They were the ones who had imprisoned the Tenixir Revenants, a lot of them in an unjust manner. They're expanding to push on these efforts but it's a lot of effort so their leaders are strained. But they have us to defend them

5) The CoM's portals lead them into this... Etheral Realm. They are nudging us into working out how to open the portals as the Force requires balance and while they want to destroy us and unshackle force users, its.. an extreme that needs balancing. Without chains to break, what do they do? One of their leaders is actually a clone of another, and the Brother of the Collective leader mentioned in 3 is growing uncomfortable with the CoM,

6) Our final update featured a discussion between the Dark Councillers. Evant proposed the fix to our versions of the portals that the previous leader had been taunting him with and while unsettled, the plan to build them has been agreed to. With volunteers having already gone through, the Voice, Idris, being one of them however it's expected to be a strange and haunting experience. The previous leader whispers that he'll be waiting.

I do want to say it here though, to please take your time. Guns blazing is a fun route but as someone who burned out on my own first war, it's not a great way to learn that sometimes it's better to let that prompt you don't really like go. Take care, make sure to look around the room every 30 minutes to save your eyes, and be awesomesauce.

What advice do you have for anyone's first -- or returning -- war?

To take it slow! It will all seem super exciting and you will want to do everything and that's awesome. But I would advise to focus on the things that make your brain go brrrr. If you can do extra, awesome, but I'd like to not be poking people with sticks post war to make sure they're alive.

What event are you most excited for?

WAHHHR. Oh within the war? Hm. I'm excited to see what fiction prompts we get but I'm also pretty excited to see if there's a casual cluster race and if I can get Phasmaphobia as one of the top played games. I'd love to see it as a supported game! But then there's also the puzzle, and the-

Are you planning to traumatize any charries in particular?

Zuza is getting a pass this time, as is Kerissa while she still settles in. I have plans for Cole but I'm not sure if I'd call them.. traumatic. Aggravating would be a better word. Melissa's fate is probably the most questionable but I'd like to not squish her down too hard too soon so Ruka can stop gaining new grey hairs already stOP DRAWING MORE-

What, for you, is the most rewarding thing about your role as praetor and also your role as a battleteam leader?

As a Praetor, it's getting to see people use the new exams and actually being fulfilled by them. Working with Arch has been great and I certainly need to be stepping up my game so we can get more out to all of you guys. As a BTL, well, do I have to pick one? The role is very rewarding when I get to see and help encourage people through their journey in the club which is the majority of my role. Now, my role as a BTL isn't the same as most others, so I can't speak to the general expereince but I definitely take a lot of pride from getting to help write those final JM4 promotions.
