Hello yes, this is Arch.
The allergy fog is upon me and I need to finish the bad boy so I can go listen to bluegrass and drink local beer and whiskey, so let’s get right down to it.
Sulon suffers from an ill-timed April Fool’s joke by Sulon Tiful
After several months of service, our noble Aedile Razzmatazz Raziel will be stepping down. Raz has persevered through some extraordinarily hectic offline events and I appreciate his willingness to stick with us through it all. He’ll be staying in Sunrider for what I hope will be a very long time.
Of course, that means I need to find myself a new Aedile. I am opening the position to any current members of COU. Because it’s limited to people in the clan, I’m going to try to steer this away from long, involved applications. I already have a good idea who’s active, who takes initiative, who’s a troublemaker, etc. So here’s what we’re going to do. You have three days—so through the end of Sunday night, the 18th—to express interest. This is what I want:
Email me.
Let me know roughly when you’re available to talk.
If you have something you really want me to know, feel free to include that.
I don’t need a work history because I can pull that from the site. I don’t need a 30/60/90 plan or any of that. We will talk about your ideas and what you bring to the role on Telegram or Discord.
Once I’ve received your email, I’ll reach out sometime within the next week for our chat and hopefully we’ll have someone in place soon.
Another reason to keep the application short is that I expect the next AED to hit the ground running. Off the top of my head:
We will be doing an award/promotion sweep as soon as feud results are released.
We will, along with Jon, be implementing basic activity requirements for Sunrider and Tython to try to keep the subunits down to active members.
We will be planning activity and fiction for Sunrider’s members to cover the gap until the Rite of Supremacy in June. The latter will pick up threads from both the last house event and the feud.
During the Rite of Supremacy, the AED will be expected to participate in all bins and will be responsible for a set of clan members to maximize both score and enjoyment of the feud.
If I am unable to perform my duties, the AED will be expected to fill in while I’m out and/or until the CON hires my replacement. As I expect to be moving later this month, that may come up sooner than you’d think.
In general, I’m looking for someone with a positive attitude who is active on our chat platforms—especially Discord, which I can barely pretend to not hate—and in competitions. The COU summit is pretty flexible with duties, so I can’t present a hard list of assignments, but I want somebody who’s interested in doing at least some of: hosting weekend events, running competitions, writing unit fiction, updating our much-neglected wiki, proofreading member writing, taking on apprentices, or really anything else that helps the member experience.
I look forward to hearing from you.
The appropriately named Grimm Okami by AngyTatsu
Expect to see more detailed kudos next month, when I have both feud results and awards to report. For now, I just want to give another shout out and thank you to the following people for showing up in the feud, leading to what I am sure will be an inevitable victory for the light.
Turel Sorenn, Ira Ojiman (Donny), Len Iode, Kah Manet, Elyon de Neverse, and Essik Lyccane participated in every bin. That means each one of them earned a minimum of 39 points for the clan.
Draxion Durk and Jon Silvon hit all the event-long bins, including the group writing competition that was the least completed bin.
A'lora Kituri, Celevon Werd'la, and Jafits Skrumm got full participation in phase 1. Grimm Okami and Gui Sol got full participation in both phases.
Specialest shoutouts to Donny and Kah, who participated in all 20 competitions because they are insane.
There have been two amendments to the Covenant, both of which address procedural matters during confirmation votes. Since we don’t have those very often, this isn’t likely to have a huge impact on you.
The MAA has updated several policies. For people running competition, “low effort” comps no longer give lower-tier crescents. The art society now counts towards Journeyman promotions like the other societies. And the vendetta page has been updated..
We have a new Justicar, Thane Skotos, the artist formerly known as Atra Ventus, and a new Herald, Alaisy.
We have a new Regent, Zxyl, and he is hiring through the 18th.
We have an old Fist, Justinios. He’s made two important changes. Announcing PvP queuing is allowed outside of vendettas. The bigger change is that DB Gaming has been split up. The original channel is now DB Gaming Chat for discussion, while DB Gaming Matchmaking is the new home of the Fist bot, making it mandatory for most gaming for clusters. Join links for all official chats live here.
The Combat Master, some jerk named Turel, is asking for suggestions for new ACC venues.
