The Drums of War

Chapter 1 - Ignition

The first episode of Sins of an Empire has begun, and as you will quickly notice, the focus is primarily more inward on the Republic. This is because we have listened to feedback, and opted to give an opportunity for you to establish yourselves within the world and areas you are more intimately familiar with, with a more firm narrative for the time being. The chief issue we heard from the prelude was that we made it a bit too sandbox for people to be involved in the leadup to a war they had barely heard about, barely been involved with, and were unsure of the reasons why their character would want to be there or be part of it.

Because of this, Episode 1 is fairly fiction heavy out of the gate so do not be surprised or overwhelmed as this is on purpose. This is to give you the most time and opportunity to write the stories you want to write in the events you want to participate in, using any of our resources at your disposal. Phase 2 will be much lighter with a smaller more war-focused narrative for those who want to reach outward a bit more. Wiki, the various factional leaders and their areas (Zxyl with the Traditionalists and Ostara, myself with Republic/Loyalist, Zen'trula with the Vornskr Battalion, and Jorm with the Ember Storm mercenaries and Chyron.), even the story of Chapter 1 above.

Anything that is written, as long as it does not affect the major overall arc written for Chapter 1 involving Cassandra, Frei-Jar, Jorm, Zen, or Zxyl, (It is politely asked that you ask us first, in which case, we would gladly work with you on writing us in officially for your stories), will be considered canon for you and your characters if you so wish it. If you want any help, or guidance, please feel free to ask any of us (also including Vodo too.) Use our knowledge, we beg of you. The key things we want you to be able to do in preparation for Episode 2 onward when things heat up even more are answer simple questions:

• "Why am I doing here?"
  
• "Why does this concern me?"
  
• "What are my goals and what drives me to achieve them?"

and most importantly

• "What is my place in this?"

By being able to answer these questions for your character, and establish their foothold here in Episode 1, you will be able to develop yourself further and lead yourself straight into the subsequent episodes.

We hope you enjoy this event, especially me. A lot of sweat and tears went into the writing of this after our complete story shakeup post-Ood's one-on-one's with all of you, and I am proud of what has come out of it for my finale as Consul. (I will still be around to write in the future.)
