It's well past time for a report from your Quaestor, and there's a lot of stuff going on that's probably worth reporting. I'd like to take this opportunity to say that your House Summit is going through a little bit of a refocusing cycle right now, trying to get a little more organized, distribute the work a little more evenly, and get things like reports out on a more timely basis. We've slipped on that stuff in the past couple of months, and we're aware of it. We are getting it fixed so we can all get back to the fun stuff.
The big news, if you hadn't heard already, is that Anshar has graciously stepped down as BTL of the Jen Kaari in order to give Farrin a shot at running a team. It's a great opportunity for Farrin to gain some leadership experience in Tarentum (he's got quite a bit from other places already) and for us all to benefit from the excitement and energy of one of our newest members. I'm very excited to work with him and see what he can do.
Title says it all, really. Big congratulations to Frosty on his recent marriage! We love you man! (Please come back soon!)
Earlier today the SCL's office made a big announcement regarding the Dark Brotherhood's forums. They have been working hard to prepare a new forum system called Discourse to replace the aging and increasingly outdated forum system we've been using for years now. Check out http://discourse.darkjedibrotherhood.com to try it out for yourself.
In Raken's most recent report he announced some of the general information for the final Crusade round. The competition will take place on Nicht Ka, the last of the three final One Sith planets. The events will be "traditional Brotherhood events" such as gaming, fiction and graphics. I urge everybody to gear up and take part in this one. It's the lead up to GJW XI and our final chance to get written into the history of the Dark Crusade. It's a chance to rack up some novae and make a name for yourself in the wider arena, which is particularly important for EQ and Elder level promotions. I'm just gonna throw this out here now: just because you're old and crusty doesn't mean your Summit isn't trying to get you promoted. It takes effort, consistency, contributions both inside and outside of Tarentum but most of all it still takes regular participation.
After Nicht Ka will come GJW XI, and then Raken says we're going on a "Vendetta hiatus" so no more novae for awhile. It will be a time for all units to focus internally for awhile and rebuild.
Ok. So I remember about two months ago promising that the next chapter of Ravaged would be out shortly. Obviously that didn't happen. The details aren't important; just that I let you guys down and I'm sorry. Raiju and I both had stuff come up in real life with very unfortunate and coincidental timing, but we're both back now. We've enlisted some help to finish it up. We're spreading the responsibility out and working on communicating more effectively so this doesn't happen again.
The website has undergone some minor upgrades including a fiction update to cover the end of the prologue, so be sure to check that out at http://tarentum.net and stay tuned for more info. The plan is to grow the site into the main House Tarentum website, so you'll notice small changes toward that end over the next few months.
Tarentum has come a long way from where it was a year ago. We're a little smaller, and we didn't exactly shine in the Crusade but we've had a few small tastes of recovery with Tarentum Momentum and the prologue of Ravaged. We've tried a lot of things ranging from major policy changes to leadership changes, many different kinds of competitions, threats, bribes... and we're going to keep trying. We have a very strong and dedicated leadership team and a plan for the future, but we can't do it alone. Key to Tarentum's success is communication between all members of the House.
My IRC time these days is more limited than I'd like due to increasing responsibilities at work, but I'm usually on in the evenings on and off between 6 and midnight Pacific time. If you see me without my 'away' tag, please feel free to say hello. I check email three times a day: once in the morning, once on my lunch break, and at least once in the evening. Turnaround times on email are typically much less than 24 hours, so please don't be shy. Ask me anything.
This club is for you guys. It's an awful lot of fun. It's more fun if you actually take part in it, and it's the most fun if we all take part in it together. If the stuff we're offering for you to do isn't fun, then talk to me about it. Tell me what you think is working and what isn't. Tell me what you'd like to see. Tell me what would get you excited to get involved. Farrin, Hades, Raiju and I are here to serve you. Let us know what we can do for you.
