Tarentum Rollmaster Report #5

The Sword's Sheath - Itaana Belt - Yridia System

The newest Priest of the Krath Order, Farrin Xies, knelt on the cold metal floor of the chamber next to his friend and Master, Hades. The silence between the two men was deafening as the last glimpse of Darth Pravus flickered out from the holoterminal. A summons for both men to appear in the comms room by themselves by the Deputy Grand Master was not normally that unusual, but the events surrounding their expedition on Korriban and support of Arcona in the tripartite conflict that had followed - one in which they had not supported the faction led by Pravus, which was cause enough for concern to the two - had changed things.

Now that the events on Korriban had concluded, the illusive Star Chamber had finally deigned to act, and change was rippling throughout the various parts of Brotherhood-controlled space. Grand Master Muz Ashen, who had long been at the helm of their organization, had fallen and Darth Pravus had taken control. Perhaps in retribution for his support of the incumbent, Pravus had removed the Tarentum Quaestor, Scion Altera, from his position, leaving Hades and Farrin as the sole House leaders. To mix the bitter with the sweet, however, their new Grand Master had elevated Tarentum alongside its other independent House brethren back to the ranks of Clans. It had been a breathtaking announcement for numerous reasons from the Sith Lord, and it had taken all Farrin had to remain knelt in deference to their new leader.

Finally, however, both men rose from their one downed knee before they both dropped, as one, into chairs around the conference table in the room. "Scion..." Farrin mumbled in disbelief before the newly-minted Proconsul of Tarentum cut him off. "Has been in worse scrapes. Darth Pravus removed him from his position, he could have done much worse for backing Ashen." Seeing the wisdom in the statement, the Tarentum Rollmaster nodded. "What now?" he asked, finally looking up at his Master for the first time since the two men had entered to comms room.

"Summon the Hous- I mean, Clan, and I'll prepare the shuttle. Castle Tarentum awaits."

Welcome!

Y'know, since it's been a slow couple of months for the news here in the DJB, I think I'll just put up a cat gif and call it a day. Everyone fine with that?

Of course I jest. WOW, has it been a crazy couple of months! Since my last report, we've seen some incredible changes not only here in Tar but also in the wider DJB. We started the GJW on a really high note after our third place showing in the Fading Light Vendetta, and after the first half of the GJW where we were sitting also in 3rd I think the entire House started breaking out the champagne. Unfortunately, the other Houses and Clans redoubled their efforts in the back half of the competition and we didn't carry through like we needed to, tumbling in the rankings to come in last place. I won't belabor the point any further, this was embarrassing to everyone on the Summit. We had come into the GJW with high expectations for ourselves and we failed.

Now that I've cast a shadow over the rest of the report, let me move into the, y'know, actual report portion.

DJB News

  • With the conclusion of the GJW, the longest-serving GM in our history, Muz Ashen, has stepped down and Darth Pravus (aka Sarin) has taken his place. Muz was a helluva leader for a LONG period of time, and a supporter of Tarentum no matter how we struggled. For that, he has my sincere thanks.
  • Pravus wasted no time in making changes, including: promoting Yacks to DP and Dante to DA (Nice, gents!); elevating former Combat Master/VOICE Mav to DGM; elevating Wiki badass/Tribune Aiden Kinkaid/Shadow to the newly vacated VOICE position; and nominating GM Jac Cotelin as the next Justicar.
  • In news a little closer to home, Pravus raised all Independent Houses (such as our own) back to the level of Clans!

Clan News

  • Also in news close to home, our beloved Quaestor, Scion Altera, is no longer the head of Tarentum. Scion has been a fantastic leader and remains a friend. Though he may no longer be our official leader, I know for a fact he'll continue to pour his heart and soul into Tarentum to see it succeed, and for that as well as his giving me the opportunity to try my hand at RM I thank him. Scion, all Tarenti owe you a debt of gratitude for what you've done for us.
  • With the position of Tarentum Consul open, our GM and DGM are accepting applications until this Friday, though they might make a decision sooner. I know that many have thrown their hats in the ring for the chance to lead Tarentum, but I hope I speak for all Tarenti when I say that no matter who becomes the next Prince of Yridia, they will find a group of individuals willing to bust their butts to prove once and for all that Tarentum isn't ready to be written off yet. I've been proud to serve as Tarentum's Rollmaster for the past six months and hope that I'm given the opportunity, if the next Consul sees fit, to continue that.
  • Never have I felt the Tarentum Momentum so keenly than in the past month, as evidenced by the sheer number of promotions many Tarenti have earned. Though he isn't a Journeyman, at least anymore, I want to give a shoutout to Egregious for his battlefield promotion during the GJW. Each unit was allowed to submit one person to the Grand Master, and I don't think anyone was more deserving from Tarentum. On the Journeyman level, three gentlemen who had been Guardians as of my last report - Magik, Garloaf, and Jalen Ramz - are all currently sitting at the level of Jedi Hunter, though I imagine at least one and possible two or even all three will have attained their sabers by my next report. Additionally, shornik, who had not even joined the House yet as of my last report, has worked all the way up to Protector and is soon to be a Guardian himself. All in all, Tarentum's got a truly solid crew of Journeymen and I'm very proud to get to work with them.

Member Spotlight

In this report, I'd like to shine the spotlight on someone who, at this rate, will no longer be a Journeyman by the time I write my next report: Garloaf. Ever since coming to us from the Rogues as a Protector, Garloaf has been slowly but steadily chipping away at his requirements, with his pace quickening since the new year. In fact, he was promoted to Jedi Hunter just a scant week after finishing off the requirements for Guardian. Garloaf is testament to the fact that hard work pays off, and I can't wait to see him get his 'saber!

Recruitment

You know how I've been saying for the past couple of reports I was hoping to get together the revamped Tarentum Master/Student Program? Well, I was finally able to do so. I hope to have it published to the Clan at large as soon as our new Consul is installed and approves it.

Don't forget to be reaching out to friends you have, either in other online communities or in the real world, that might be interested in the DJB. Everybody loves SW (or should), so use that as a stepping stone!

Path to Knighthood

  • JH Garloaf (Master: Raiju Kang) - Can't wait for you to get your lightsaber!
  • JH Magik (Master: Egregious) - "95 on this Shadow Academy test? NOT GOOD ENOUGH!" I'd joke that half my emails are your retakes, but normally it's only two emails - the first saying you got a high A, the second saying you got a 100. As a teacher, I love students like you!
  • JH Jalen Ramz (Master: Jaredi Edius) - the GMRG needs to look out, Jalen's gonna be at the top before y'all know it
  • PRT Zero Raven (Master: TBA)
  • PRT shornik (Master: Samael Ozriel) - Proud of you, shornik, keep it up!
  • NOV Maxwell Venturi (Master: Samael Ozriel) - Howdy!
  • NOV Arys Ennerion (Master: Farrin Xies) - Welcome!

tl;dr

  • We're a Clan again!
  • ...but without Scion. Seriously though, thank you bossman.
  • There's a new Tarentum MSP, but it'll have to wait for publication until likely this weekend at the earliest. You've been patient, so wait just a bit longer. :)
  • Our entire group of Journeymen are some really special people doing amazing work. Good job to all of you!
  • Egregious is a beast, congrats on your battlefield promo!

Great report... Scion you served us well and with honor!

Nice report, Farrin.

Sweet report!

The next few months are going to be hella exciting for Tarentum!
