Trepidation and nerves ebbed and flowed from the Kel Dor like the tide on a beach. One step full of confidence, the next doubt. He made his way down the hallway, a hall he had traveled countless times before, one he had not been down in quite some time. Approaching the wide open door at the end of the hall, he paused a moment, took a deep breath and gathered himself before stepping across the threshold.

A lot had changed since the last time he had been here, and yet…things felt so familiar. The large office was spartan, furnished only by a large wooden desk and lightly cushioned chair with its back to the large window offering a breathtaking view onto the land surrounding Plagueis’ base of operations.

Slowly he took it all in, his gaze drifting across the open room. He could picture it in his mind, his plans for not only this room but grand plans for his House. His crimson finger gently dragged across the smooth surface of the desk as he took a seat.

“Excuse me sir,” a young attendant interrupted his reverie. “I have the data you requested.”

Picking up the datapad from its resting place he got to work on his first report in a long, long time. He smiled to himself, TuQ’uan Verick di Plagia, Right Hand of Dread and newly appointed Quaestor of House Tyranus was back from retirement, and right where he belonged.

Introduction

Hello Tyrants and welcome to my first report as Quaestor of House Tyranus! It’s been a little while so bear with me here.

Some of you may know me from my previous tenure on the Plagueian summit but I’ll give a quick rundown of who I am and why I’m here (again).

My name is TuQ’uan Varick, A.K.A. TuQ, A.K.A. The Hat and I hail from the Great White North known as Canada (and no, I don’t live in an igloo and I don’t know Jimmy, or Sally, or Suzy from Canada although I’m certain they’re really, really nice). Back in 2017 I joined not only the Brotherhood but Plagueis as a bright eyed and bushy tailed Journeyman. Not long after that I joined the summit as the Battleteam leader of The Circle (RIP) and over the 3+ years I worked my way through the summit as an Aedile, Quaestor, Rollmaster and ProConsul as well as spending over 2 years as a magistrate to the VOICE before retiring from my roles to let the next generation lead.

Now this isn’t to brag about myself, many who know me know that this is the opposite of what I like to do. But this is to demonstrate to you the time and dedication I put into things I am passionate about, as well as to show you how much passion I have for this wonderful corner of the internet we have built together.

I try to be an understanding and easy going person, and as Qua of Tyranus I will be poking and checking in with you, but as my previous event history will show, if I ask or push you to do something remember one thing, I will be doing it too. I like to lead by example, if there is an event going on, I will be participating alongside you. If a member of Plag has a competition running, I will be participating and asking you to do so as well. I want to encourage a fun and positive environment where we both support and encourage each other.

The way I look at it, if one of us does well, we all do well.

I have now rambled about myself for FAR longer than I feel comfortable with, so I’ll end it with one more thing. My proverbial door is always open. I want to hear from you. Whether you have a question, comment, concern, idea or just want someone to chat with, please feel free to reach out either through email or on discord. I like talking to people and getting to know them on a more personal level, it’s one of the best parts about the DB. I also want to help you get the most out of this incredible club.

House Tyranus News

This month I am going to combine the Clan and House news into one section because they would cover the same main theme….PRO BOWL!!

Now I know what you’re thinking.

“But Tuq, that thing is long over!”

And while you are correct, I want another excuse to gush over the results, so please bear with me one more time.

I have not been very subtle in the fact that the Pro Bowl is my favourite time of year. Shortly after I joined the DB I was thrust into Pro Bowl II and I immediately got hooked due to the quick and fun nature of the event. Over the course of this year's incarnation of the Pro Bowl I know I saw a lot of you also give into the ridiculousness and fun.

First off, I am very proud of each and every member of the house for your efforts during Pro Bowl VI. Slags has already given and overview of the Pro Bowl Results which you should all take a look at, but I want to also take this time to more specifically break down the House numbers.

Out of the 12 currently active members of Tyranus, we saw participation in the Pro Bowl from 10 at some point during the event…let me say that again, 10!!!! That means that we had participation from a stagering 77% of the current house roster. While we have lost a few members since the Pro Bowl began, this is up from a 54% participation rate from House Tyranus during the most recent GJW.

Combined, participants within Tyranus submitted a truly impressive 128 entries across the three weeks of the competition to accumulate a total of 852 points. This absolutely blew away my expectations for the event, which is great news for me and should frighten you a bit, because it means I am going to be pushing you to top that in the next event!

Overall Tyranus has laid some fantastic groundwork and proven not only to me but to the clan and the club as a whole that we are a force to be reckoned with. We are trending in the right direction but I know there is a lot of untapped potential within the house and I want to help us be the best that we can.

Final Thoughts

I am very excited to be back in leadership and to have such an incredible team comprising House Tyranus. The future of both the House and the Clan is looking bright and I can’t wait to see the incredible things to come.
