Hello all and welcome to my first actual installment as the Quaestor for Consular Conclave. Many of you might ask “Where was the last one?” Well, to put it simply, I got slammed and then forgot and then was just kinda lazy. So we’re gonna have a twofer this month which will have a bit of rehash from the last month which should have been made mention of and then things that are a bit more prevalent and just as important.
Before we get too far along the road, I’ll just point out that for some reason it was a REALLY slow week for the leadership and Revak decided that I would be a good idea as a leader again. So, I’ll do my best not to let him down too often on that note. Secondly, I do want to join the others who mentioned a bit ago (like two months ago) thanking Xolarin for his work with the house and taking the reins is never easy.
We’re gonna have some growing pains as we start to fit into a better mold than the House has had in the past. I’m gonna be working with my wonderful Aedile, Elyon, in getting things in order for the future and we’ll have to see what we see.
In case you missed it for some reason, Revak has a report out earlier this month. Wherein he talks about the next big event on the horizon for us. The ProBowl. My counterpart in Guardian Corps also released a report recently which wrapped up the most recent chapter of Streets Painted Crimson. Nice little story with that one so go read it here if you haven’t yet. I’m sort of proud to say that several Conclave members made a fair showing with Jafits placing third overall with a pretty spectacular graphics. In other news, Arch was appointed our new Headmaster so be sure to send him happy regards and congratulations. We’ll miss our squawky friend, but he’ll still be around for us to pester. Final bit of relevant news for us, going back to the first point on this list. The ProBowl! This is an event we’ve been invited to for the first time. Me, being old and largely disconnected for a few while until recently, has no real knowledge about this other than the information already given here. To steal directly from the competition info, this is a three week event that hosts a large number of competitions for us to participate in. We’ll be split into teams, either the Rotworms or the Frogdogs (weird names, but I vaguely remember them being somewhere else). So strap on your boots and grab your sabers, guns, knives, etc and get ready to crush some Rotworms. Or Frogdogs. My head is about to explode just trying to keep it straight. The event starts on Monday, so be ready for the draft and go forth and conquer in the name of your team!
Lots of awards the last few months. Lots of awards. I’ll try to make sure I get them all.
Awards for General Badassery: * Revs grabbed a Dark Cross.
Sulin netted an Anteian Cross
Gwowk rocked and rolled to a Dark Cross.
Benn stepped out of the kitchen for a bit after his souffle got deflated and found an Anteian Cross in the rubble.
Bexa got a Dark Cross for time spent doing things for the Clan as Rollmaster.
Old Man Ji got a surprise on his porch in the form of a Steel Cross.
Elyon also found herself an Anteian Cross in the aftermath of the GJW (she also got a promotion for exceptional badassery and being an almost literal force of nature).
Xolarin netted a Steel Cross for his time as my predecessor.
Arch got an Emerald Dagger along the way.
Other than that there were a load of clusters and crescents that, sadly, I didn’t keep very good track of. I promise to do better next time.
With the close of Streets Painted Crimson, some of the House has taken up temporary residence at the archaeology dig near an ancient temple located beneath the ice. The Conclave still has yet to find a more permanent home and still continues to largely operate from the Research Center. Going forward the plan is to establish a real “home base” as it were unless I can con Revak into giving up an orbital platform or one of the fancy ships for us to live on. Stay tuned for more information for this as Elyon and I get things hammered out.
Tarvitz: What story concepts and themes do you have in mind for the Conclave's future? Celevon: What's the plan moving forward for CC? And what is our fictional focus?
Concepts for the Conclave are kind of up in the air at the moment. I plan to expand on the temple put forward in streets painted crimson, but also develop more identity for the members of the conclave. At some point in the near-ish future, I want to continue with projects that expose more of Solyiat, more of the worlds we have to play with that people were so generous in their time to create. And I want to see more things written for them and more things created for future generations of both the Conclave and Odan-Urr as a whole to use just as we get to play with the toys left to us by others. Esoterica does have it's place among practical matters so developing those things would normally have fallen very in line with my original intention of Havaen Research Center and anything that came from those experiments would then get the chance for field testing at some point. In my mind, Consular Conclave doesn't just have an esoteric tone to it. Conclave, by definition, is a private meeting or gathering. A group of people all focused on the same task. For some time now, Consular has seemed to be a catch-all for anything non-combat. Diplomats, scientists, doctors, etc. Expanding on that, diplomats can still fight, combat medics exist for a reason, scientists get practical experience in the field. So, I do want to move away from the idea that we are only peace-loving, weed-smoking hippies who sit in ivory towers and do nothing but moon about at the stars. Diplomats can double as spies, scientists and doctors make excellent interrogators or even serve as plants within an opposing force. We are not limited by what our focus is, but only by our imagination.
Len: Would you rather request Monday or Friday off?
I actually already have Monday's off. So victory is mine.
During the month of October, we are planning to launch a new project that concerns the House of Consular Conclave, but all members of the Odan-Urr clan can participate. Throughout the ages, man has created an emblem to distinguish himself from others, such as knights errant, who created their emblem to differentiate themselves from other knights. The emblem does not serve to identify but later served as an aspect, which, on the contrary, was a symbol of unification. Similarly, individual clans also have their own emblems, which create emblems to distinguish themselves. And the members of the Brotherhood immediately recognized which clan they were talking to. Subgroups and battle teams also have their own brand. Why should it be any different for the House of Consular Conclave? A little fiction to start…
The search for a temple to serve as a refuge for all those in need who needed the help of members of the House of Consular Conclave still continued, although it was put on hold by the events of the Great Jedi War. The entire Brotherhood was healing their wounds and trying to rebuild what was destroyed.
The Knights of Odan-Urr suffered casualties and their home was hit by enemy fire in such a way that it took time to rebuild. The same applied to members of the Consular Conclave. Battle wounds were slowly healing, but morale was still low. The damage to Jedi Praxeum was a blow to the heart for many.
Elyon de Neverse, Aedile HCC, is now at the main headquarters of the Haven-class station alongside the new Quaestor Yuki Suoh, replacing Xolarin, who has served the house with honor and has always taken his role as leader seriously. Yuki, an Echani with long, bright red hair, glared hard at the assembled members with silvery eyes. At first glance, she seemed cold, austere, and aloof.
"Members of the Consular Conclave, I have been chosen to lead this house to success, to build it into a strong and proud house. If you think it will be a walk in the park, it won't be. I will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal," the Quaestor began in a cool and measured tone that sounded like a hint of superiority.
"The first task is to create an emblem for this house. The emblem identifies you as a strong group that holds its head up against all traps and enemies," the Echani continued in an icy voice. "I expect much from each of you," she added.
