Bryan Young, of Big Shiny Robot, posted a video today announcing that Disney Publishing WorldWide will be releasing four new kids books.
The first book, which I am genuinely excited about, will cover episodes IV, V and VI and will feature illustrations from the late Ralph McQuarrie, who did the original Star Wars concept art. I'm planning on getting this book just for me as I love McQuarri's work.
The other three books will each tackle one of the original trilogy episodes and feature illustrations from the prequel trilogy's concept artist, Iain McCaig.
The aim of these books looks to be to get kids, who have only grown up on the latest three films, excited about the original trilogy in the lead up to Episode VII.
Expect the first book to be out April 2015.
This raises an interesting question, will the more adult books start coming from Disney Publishing WorldWide when the current license with Del Rey Books expires?

Concerning your "interesting question," my money falls completely on "yes." As soon as Del Rey's contract is up, Disney is moving novels in-house. 'Tis how they operate, and it's not necessarily a bad thing.
