All,
The Cluster of Ice award description has been updated on the wiki to include the awarding of CoIs for every 500 words of fiction in official Voice fiction events. Please take a look at the wiki page to ensure you are maximizing your ability to gain as many of these (soon to be much more important) awards.

Just a thought/question: Will the the awarding of the quality of the fic have any bearing on the CoI? For example, let's say I write a 1500+ word fic which is pure garbage (can/did happen), and someone else writes a very awesome fic that was only 800ish words. Does that still mean I get 3 CoIs for my retarded rambling to the other person's 1 CoI for their planning and effort?
Shadow and Atyiru are about to get bajillions of the things, then...
Clusters are basically ways to measure activity now. It's like saying the 6 CFs you earned by playing pazaak are less worthy than the 200,000 someone else earned for D3. If you wrote 1500+ words of "crappy" fiction, you still wrote 1500+ words (it's fairly subjective anyways). That counts as activity and effort. Just realize that if you submit "pure garbage" it won't place in a competition.
Also, it should be noted that if you just wrote something like "Tarax sucks" over and over x1000 it would be disqualified and would not count for CIs.... In case some people think to try to "play the system" in that way.
Does past fiction get credits? For example all Crusade fiction or IG fiction
Generally this type of change isn't retroactive, but Sarin might be in the mood to break his own head.

A: There will be a subjective element to the awarding of CoIs that takes into account the quality of writing. We will not award fluff or exceptionally poor written material that appears to be designed to simply extend word count.

A: No. I'm not in the mood to break my own head. The logistics of combing through 1000s of entries over the past year or two years is beyond what I am capable of doing or even beyond what 10 or 20 of us are capable of doing.
Will this change affect awarding as regards ACC matches? It's fairly common to have ACC matches where each combatant writes 2000+ words (in a 2+2), however as it stands that would only net you 2 CoI's (rather than 4) despite being demonstrably more difficult than an equivalent-length fiction.
What would be the feasibility of getting a CoI for every 500 words, and then a CoI for winning (with none for losing)?
We feel the CoI scale for the ACC is fair at this time, but we can always revisit it in the future.
The ACC will receive a fair amount of Gorefest related perks concerning CoIs for certain events (example, the present tournament is double awards).
