Since Orv stepped down V'yr has nearly been our sole lightsaber designer, with an incredible 14 of them under his belt. It takes anywhere from a day to several weeks to do a single lightsaber, not counting the other stuff he is working on at the same time. Some are much more difficult than others and require learning new techniques before even getting started. On top of that he asks for feedback from the member and sometimes goes through many rounds of changes, much more than he is required to, for the sake of delivering a fantastic experience and a satisfied member. To help in teaching the Herald staff how to make them, he created a lightsaber tutorial video that can be found on youtube, which garnered a lot of views that sent visitors to the DJB website. When searching for "photoshop lightsaber tutorial" on Google, his video can be found on the very front page as part of a G+ post by the DJB profile. His is only one of a very few videos I've found on creating the hilt, versus the giant amount of tuts on the glow effect, which makes it incredibly unique. On top of that he has also helped out with various miscellaneous tasks around the Herald office, such as many Avatar approvals or denials, which also includes taking the time to image hunt for copywritten GFX as well as back and forth member interaction to verify sources. He also updates the Activity sheet and participates in all Herald policy discussions that have led to important changes like the new warbanner rules. He designed the Matriarch Robes for Herald Style Hannukah and the new female paper doll that we now use for robes, inked lines for the Sith and Jedi join form characters, created several graphics for HOU as well as for a BT event, and of course he is responsible for adding Muzfasa to Mirus' rolling Herald banner, which I have to credit him for because it left us all in stitches. After I became Herald I promoted V'yr to Praetor, and between the two positions he has nearly 8 months under his belt of actual full-time work worthy of a Praetor position and more. This wasn't his first Herald staff rodeo though, and it shows in the quality of his work, the attention to detail, and the insistence of working with the members regarding their lightsaber or images needed for their projects. V'yr actively participates in critiques, which is a very important aspect of the current Herald staff. He's taught all of us some great graphics lessons and his own skills have increased exponentially since coming aboard due to his willingness to listen to feedback and the work and re-work he puts into the graphics, always striving to make them as best as possible and then some. V'yr is an integral part of the Herald staff and I know for fact that it wouldn't have run as well without him during these past 8 months. General Socorra Erinos, 2014-07-21 12:38:14 UTC Additional reasons If there is one thing we can say about V'yr Vorsa it is that he is one of the most dedicated graphics artists in the Brotherhood, a group of people that, more often than not, are very sorely misunderstood. Their work, however, is some of the most important. They design warbanners, robes, lightsabers, accessories, the bread and butter of our club for we view it on a daily basis - and then beyond this they make a variety of images that go above and beyond, that give our club flavour. It is with great honour that I would add this recommendation to the list for this award for a great artist. The Herald staff keeps a list of tasks done over time by its staffers. One look at V'yr's list and you see, immediately, that a lot of work that he does is of high quality. A lot of his projects have been mentioned by Socks, but I will detail a small handful of his work for House Odan-Urr and Clan Naga Sadow to prove a point. Once upon a time, V'yr (then known as Tyren) designed the original Tenebrae battleteam logo, with little to no prompting. Since then we have seen him perform a wide variety of tasks, most recently including four beautiful maps for House Odan-Urr and a wide variety of logos for military units, battleteam works and event imagery. These images have provided a House with a graphical base with which it can inspire its members. Looking beyond this, to his impact on the Club - he has provided a myriad works that can be seen on members' dossiers. His contributions to the Herald staff cannot possibly be understated. Some examples? Slagar's beautiful double-snake lightsaber. Shirai's incredible gold filigree dragon-head saber. Kah's wonderfully gritty tribal claw saber. His work is peerless. It's unique, has its own style. We speak of Muz and Orv and Socks being unique in their own arts, with talent beyond the scope that we mere mortals can aspire to. V'yr is so prolific that his name sits on that list, too, and he has never been Herald himself. He's also a great mentor to myself and others; not only does he provide feedback on graphics work whether you catch him in IRC or email, he does so thoughtfully and with constructive feedback, as well as suggestions for improvements. These suggestions have improved the quality of my own work, including how my custom lightsaber turned out. He's provided feedback on almost every project I've worked on, from the Dark Crusade ribbons to the warbanner rails/medallion changes recently implemented to include Order works. He made the custom saber tutorial, which as we all know was such a development for the club that not only Herald staffers could access but even others could work on, helping us train a new generation of graphics designers. In fact, without him, I would not be designing as much and to the quality I do for the club. I rely on his feedback, his input, his inspiring presence and his ability to put out some of the most breathtaking work this club has ever seen. He's inspired me to be a better leader, a better artist and a better person, and for that I can never be truly thankful enough. As a member, he proudly represented Clan Plagueis during the Fading Light ACC tournament and is without question one of the Dark Brotherhood’s most prolific TOR gamers and guild leaders, maintaining a near daily presence. As a leader, he is a role model and a beacon of activity and guidance. During the recent Plagueis house feud “Sphere of Influence,” Furios participated in nine of the eleven events while coordinating with his Quaestor, Teylas, to communicate with their house both as a group and individually. Their efforts paid off as House Ajunta Pall came away the victors of the feud. Finally, his clear, unbreakable drive to perform better and make himself as useful as possible has extended to the Fist office where he has gained a Magistrate position. On top of that, his participation in the recent Plagueis feud has been superb, placing in 4 of the events including first place in the Know Thy Enemy competition. On top of that, his gaming presence for both Plagueis and Ajunta Pall has been awesome, racking up dozens of Clusters of Fire. Since taking on the post of Aedile of Ajunta Pall, Furios has been a sterling example of what a Summit member should be. He's kept up a rapid clip of activity; he's been available for contact on IRC (Especially at the later hours when other Summit members aren't around); he's nade sure to offer help and guidance to everyone in Plagueis, even those outside of his own House. Furios has become one of the leaders that exemplifies the sort of teamwork focused work ethic that Plagueis strives for. In addition, he's been a great facilitator for the Dark Brotherhood TOR guild. He participated in four events despite being by and large away from a computer in real life, but more importantly he sent out reminders to the house about the events and encouraged everyone he could catch on IRC or bug over email about participating. Ever since joining the summit team here in Naga Sadow he has been an active participant in discussions with the other members. Besides that he has also performed the usual duties of an Aedile, writing reports, organizing competitions and being in regular contact with his members. When his workload slowly increased over time due to the real life troubles of the Quaestor he took it in stride showing he was more than capable for the job which made it an easy decision to ask him to take over as Quaestor when Teu resigned. Since his last promotion sixteen months ago he has accomplished much. He participated in thirteen events in the five rounds of the Crusade that followed his promotion and while doing so he earned himself a Silver Nova. The Crusades were interrupted by the Independence Games celebrating the Brotherhood’s tenth anniversary since the Exodus. During those Games Kalon did something incredible. He participated in a whopping 40 events. And he placed in 22 of those 40 events. This earned him the titles All-Star and Grand Champion of the 2013 Independence Games, two Silver and two Gold Novae and it also earned him many Crescents and last but not least a Sapphire Blade. He has also earned a couple of Anteian Crosses for his service and dedication to Clan Arcona as well as a load of Clusters, both of the Fire and the Ice variation which serves as a testament to his versatility as a member. When he puts his mind to a task, there is not a force in the universe that can stop him. This was evident by his sheer dominance in the 2013 IG Games and his performance therein. As Dark Forge BTL, he was able to take over the reins and lead by example mid-crusade. Shortly after he stepped back to bolster Arcona’s general forces as one of our most active participants day in and day out. Earlier this year, Kalon was one of the inaugural members of Nighthawk Battleteam, which has gone on to be Arcona’s top and most active Battleteam to date. In that same role as the teams “pilot”, Kalon took 3rd out 34th place in Operation: Sojourn through a combination of graphics, writing, and creativity. Even after leaving Arcona, I’ve checked in from time to time to see how he is doing. Right away, his being twice crowned a Champion during the Independence Games last years stands out, but Kalon's dedication to the Dark Brotherhood has not ceased just with his own personal tally of Crescents, Novas and Seals (which are considerable, with far too many to list here at length!). No, where many might stop there, and focus on amassing their own wealth in medals, Kalon has stepped up, and repeatedly illustrated during the time since his last elevation that he has a passion to see the Dark Brotherhood succeed. From his time as a Battleteam Leader, then as an Aedile when he saw a need in Naga Sadow, and now most recently his stepping up to replace Teu as the newest Quaestor of Marka Ragnos, Kalon has consistently kept striving to give something back and to make the club as a whole a better place, unjaded by the solitary, isolationist attitudes that are sometimes seen in some. In this, Kalon shows he has the attitude and mindset of a modern leader, of the calibre and calm resolve that the Dark Brotherhood needs going forward into the future as the new film trilogy nears us. As soon as he arrived he was already plotting with Teu to make something good happen. Not long after he helped put together the Battleteam Feud between HMR and HSD. Right off the bat he has been helpful in sustaining the clan.But beyond that its really where his track record that begins to speak. Most of his time since his last promotion was spent in Arcona. Where he was increasingly active. No idea what he did behind the scenes over there but hes been racking up a number of medals for his continued efforts. Consistency in activity is the bright star. Even big enough that he earned the title of Entar. No easy feat by normal members. But here in Naga Sadow he is now the Quaestor of Marka Ragnos and is still looking to improve the clan as a whole. Being the All-star and Grand Champion of the 2013 Independence Games is just the start. He earned: 2 GN, 2 SN, 40 Seals, 28 Crescents (2 of which are CrD), A Sapphire Blade, 2 AC's, 1 LSS, 88 CoFs, 1 SoTM, and 6 CoI's. This is an impressive load-out. As well, he has served as BTL of Dark Forge, Aedile of HMR, and has now taken on the mantle of Quaestor enthusiastically. A few months ago, I needed to find a new Aedile after my previous one stepped down. After collecting all the applications, I picked one I felt would do the job and shine while doing that. I am happy to say that I am one hundred percent correct when I made that decision. Kalon has become a main stay in Clan Naga Sadow and continues to grow to this day. As my right hand man, Kalon has picked up more and more duties slowly these last few months. He has not backed down and it lead to his eventual elevation to Quaestor since I stepped down recently. It has been over a year since his last promotion to Obelisk Templar. In that time he has shown dedication to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and to Clan Naga Sadow since joining our Clan in March. He is extremely friendly and willing to do whatever needs to be done and will do it quickly and with excellence that I’ve come to expect from him.
