Primary reason

Maximus's frenetic activity and zeal for building uphis house and clan have been apparent on a daily basis. First, his activity. Since his last promotion, Maximus has participated in 142 competitions, including 20 in GJW XII. In the process, he's taken home 3 Gold Novae, a Silver Nova, a Bronze Nova, and 32 crescents ranging from topaz up to diamond. Primarily a gamer, Max has earned himself 9 Pendants of Blood, 55 Clusters of Earth, and a massive haul of 1024 Clusters of Fire. A prolific student, Max has passed 31 Shadow Academy courses and earned 11 degrees, including Dark Sages in Warfare and History and Lore. As a writer, Max has be awarded 35 Clusters of Ice. Most impressively, Max seemed to come out of nowhere as an artist, earning 22 Clusters of Graphic, winning novae in the Great Jedi War, and contributing artwork that was used for the Jedi Praxeum wiki article and the Velastari Temple ACC venue.

In addition to being one of our most active members, Maximus has likewise been a highly engaged leader. He's organized 45 competitions and lived up to his reputation as a recruiter, earning his sixth Scroll of Indoctrination for recruiting Zeline Nemesis. Additionally, he's earned 3 Scrolls of the Master for mentoring Zeline, Sia Thiano, and long-time JM Gellm'arco'nuruodo to the rank of Knight.

Max has been on the summit of House Satele Shan for six months now, first as a particularly active Aedile and subsequently as Quaestor. In that time, he's contributed to a massive amount of wiki work for both the house and the clan at large. As Aedile, he was instrumental in getting the Last Voyage of the Kesaret event off the ground. Max led the push to open another battleteam for the house, and he and BTL Mauro Wynter have made Tython Squadron the most successful team I've ever had the good fortune to see. And in that rarest of achievements, Max has released AED/QUA reports every month like clockwork. He's also been an eager and active participant in house- and clan-level planning and policy discussions.

In his time as EQ3, Max has been recognized with a Dark Cross, 2 Anteian Crosses, and a Sapphire Blade. Now it's time for him to move forward into the next chapter of his DB career.

Additional reasons

Maximus Alvinius. Let us begin with the metrics. He organized 44 competitions and co-organized 1. His participation was stellar at 142 competitions. In terms of gaming he achieved 133 PVP matches and 50 PVE matches. Fiction wise, he wrote over 17,000 words and another 990 words of Run-On. He was HIGHLY active in the Shadow Academy passing 31 courses netting 11 degrees. He posted 6 Reports and commented 38 times. In terms of leadership Maximus held many positions. He was Quaestor for 4 months, Aedile for 2 months, Magister to the Herald for 2 months, and BTS for 1 month. For all of these efforts Maximus has achieved high regard. He earned several highly vaunted awards such as a Sapphire Blade, 3 Gold Nova, 1 Silver Nova and a Bronze Nova. He also earned 9 PoBs, 1024 CoFs, 25 CoIs, 55 CoEs, 22 CoGs, and 1 Scroll of the Master.

That is JUST the objective data on Maximus Alvinius. Max has been a peer of mine for several years, and we worked together in CSP before both making our ways to COU. Maximus is a born leader. There simply is no one who is as active in Telegram, email, message boards, and reports. His direct contact with all those under his purview is astounding. He has a direct and active communication with everyone. This has allowed for an unprecedented growth within House Satele Shan.

Case in point, his trust and faith in opening Tython Squadron. Maximus believed the time was right to open a new Battleteam and solicited inputs. He did not micromanage, and supported me in my role as BTL. Such leadership and management of his staff has seen over 9 competitions being created and over 100 submissions from the members of Tython Squad. For the record, Tython Squadron, the brainchild of Maximus Alvinius, is the largest BT in the DJB and has only existed for 2 months.

Leadership initiatives like this mark Alvinius and is the standard, not the exception. Maximus has created a formalized process for reviewing and purchasing possessions for the House that has highly engaged the leadership and revitalized the possessions within the House and to some degree Clan level. Max has unlimited trust and faith in his personnel, it has driven activity to unheard of heights. This is a man destined for higher office and is highly deserving of this new rank.

Max, congratulations brother. You have truly earned this promotion and are THE driving force of Satele Shan.

Grand Inquisitor Ragnar Kul, 2018-02-06 17:52:29 UTC

Maximus Alvinius has been a force of nature since he joined Satele Shan. I jokingly call him a hamster on a constantly moving wheel. In actuality though, it is a mark of respect and admiration towards him. That's just who is he, a ball of energy that just keeps going and going and going. He has used this drive to feverishly push Shan forward, whether it's urging his Aedile and BTL onwards or picking up the shovel himself. To put a fine point on it, Shan was in desperate need of a pick me up. Maximus Alvinius breathed life into it again through not only his own energy but more impressively by getting others to breath life into it as well. It's amazing work, brother. People don't always give these grassroots efforts their due, but it really is hard work. You make it look easy, but I know it isn't. To all the hours you put into it, words aren't really enough. But since this is all I have, Thank you so very much!

In addition to his great influence on Shan, I'd like to dig more into his wiki help. Since he's joined us, he has put in some time helping update and fix our wiki pages. In particular, he has updated the Summit roll, updated the main pages with our new location and home, updated the main pages with the new Tython destruction, updated the main pages with bits and pieces from the GJW fictions, and assorted other wiki pages. He also helped a fellow Shan member with the Daleem wiki page and updated the Satele Shan House info. He wasn't asked to do this but showed great initiative and got it done. He not only made crucial updates but he took time to continually do so as new information was released. This is not only dedication to House Shan but to the Clan itself. It makes our lives so much easier. Great job!

Overall, Maximus has shown that he isn't just a member. He's a leader who looks after his people, gets to know them, and does right by them. (Even if that requires wiki editing) I've known him since his time in CSP and now as a fellow Odanite. He never ceases to amaze me with his community spirit and high charging energy. Shan is in great hands and I can't wait to see where it takes it next.

I recommend that Maximus Alvinius be promoted to the rank of Equite 3!

Aurora "Aura" Ta'var, 2018-02-07 04:50:21 UTC

I have known Maximus for some time now. He is one of the most motivated and motivating leaders I have ever had the pleasure of working under. Working along side him I have continued to learn how to be a leader that keeps his members going. We have worked extremely well together, with only one major hiccup since we entered our posts.

Maximus lead from the front during the Great Jedi War, earning himself Second Hero for his activity. Leading from the from the front is one of the things that makes Max successful. This has continued in the House's fictional development through fostering the Summit's creativeness and including his own ideas. All of this while working on the Praxum and working in the Herald Staff.

Maximus, it is my honor to work with you and I look forward to continuing to work with you. Congratulations on a well earned promotion my friend!

Primary reason

It's been little over a month since Nijalah got promoted, it pleases me that today we're writing a recommendation for that 'special promotion' into Knighthood.

This promotion is well deserved if we take a look at the following numbers: Nijalah has participated in a total of 29 competitions, and was able to place in five of them (gaining one Amethyst, one Sapphire and three Emerald Crescents)

Nijalah also took the step to host an art competition. Speaking of arts... this member has some skills in that area, obtaining eight Clusters of Graphite. The Dark Cross on Nijalah's dossier is prove of some nice activity, also through gaming. (earning 17 Clusters of Fire and four Pendants of Blood)

Aside from two Dark Pundits, and a few other Courses in the Shadow Academy, Nijalah received a Dark Maven in Philosophy. This resulted in an elevation to the fourth rank in the Shadow Academy Society. This Padawan started to make a name for herself, by creating a wiki and through great activity.

You kneel before us as Padawan. You have achieved great things. By the right of the Council, by the will of the Force, Nijalah , you may rise as Knight.

Ranarr Kul-Tarentae, 2018-02-09 14:54:08 UTC
Additional reasons

I still remember when Nijalah was a younger journeyman and I was meeting him for the first time. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but you stuck it through despite the highs and the lows. You pushed through the Shadow Academy and knocked out tons of courses, something that is absolutely wonderful to see. You even branched out: gaming, drawing, and participating in fiction. Through this all, you've built yourself up to an able and capable Knight of Odan-Urr. I know that with your energy and thirst to learn new things you'll go far. I look forward to what you get up to next!

Congrats on Knight!

Aura Ta'var
Proconsul, Odan-Urr

Aurora "Aura" Ta'var, 2018-02-09 03:03:31 UTC

Nijalah has been a model Padawan and student, always looking to learn, seek out activity and thoughtfully develop his character in Fiction and Clan channels. In his work as a Journeyman, he has shown an eagerness to understand the Club and his place within it, with dedicated activity across gaming, graphics and the Shadow Academy. Running a graphics competition demonstrated he is ready to apply this eagerness to the Club's fun-producing machinery, truly the mark of a Knight.

It is with great pleasure and pride that I append to Ranarr's recommendation and commend Nijalah for the rank of Knight. Congratulations Nijalah, you have come to the end of this arduous path wiser and stronger, and a bright future lays ahead of you!

Korroth, 2018-02-09 01:58:58 UTC

Nijalah has been stellar on his path to knight. He has contributed as both a producer and consumer, showing his ability to do both. Ranarr already spoke of his incredible numbers... you can see what he is capable of. His activity has been one of the strong reasons the House continues to flourish. I’m excited to watch his continued growth on his way to Equite. Congrats brother!

It's hard to fully capture the scale of Blade's activity during her time as EQ2, but the numbers should provide a start. To begin with, she's participated in 161 competitions, including 25 during GJW XII. For her efforts, she's earned 2 Gold Novae, 3 Silver Novae, and 31 crescents ranging from topaz up to diamond, and 1 Legion of the Scholar. In writing, Blade's earned 93 Clusters of Ice for just shy of 32,000 words of fiction, plus an additional 10 ACC matches. In gaming, she's earned 825 Clusters of Fire, 17 Clusters of Earth, and 20 Pendants of Blood. For art, she's earned 27 Clusters of Graphite, and in the Shadow Academy Blade's earned three degrees, including a dark sage in warfare.

That by itself is impressive enough, but to my mind her phenomenal activity is secondary to how much she's contributed as a leader. Atra will detail her year of service to the ACC staff below, but for my part, I've had the pleasure of working with Blade in her capacity as Rollmistress and now Proconsul. In that time, she's organized 27 competitions. Her RM reports have been, and her PCON reports continue to be, the best showcase of Odanite art and fiction around.

She's also worked to build out the world that our characters inhabit. She was the project lead and primary contributor to the Jedi Praxeum, which had been on the to-do list since the loss of Arca Praxeum and New Tython. Blade also contributed to the supplemental article for the Velastari Temple, which she then adapted to an ACC venue with only minimal edits from Atra and me. On top of this, she received a Scroll of the Master for mentoring Tyraal Bitshiver to the rank of Knight.

Blade completely redefined the roll of Rollmaster for COU, mentoring all members as well as providing impressive levels of support for our Novitiates and Journeymen. Beyond that, she ran a series of character development fiction competitions, art competitions to try to develop our art community, and frequent character development questions in Telegram. As Proconsul, she proved herself almost immediately to be invaluable. The pair of us have to care for 80 other members, which means the workload is constant. Since moving up to second-in-command, Blade's been by turns project leader, counselor, planner, event coordinator, and visionary. All that in less than two months! For her efforts, she's been awarded a Seal of Loyalty, a Grand Cross, and a Sapphire Blade. Now it is time to promote her to EQ3 and recognize her for what she is: a senior leader whose contributions have proven critical to the health and growth of the clan.

Since coming onto my staff, Aura (or Blade, as she was known at the time of hire) has been a whirlwind of logic and queries. From the beginning she wanted to understand the system from an algorithmic point of view. Everything needed a rule and consistency that could be applied to all situations. Now, this would be found to be an unattainable goal, but it was a spirit and drive that was nice to see. It also brought consistency to a system that can be varied. This almost computer-like perspective to all discussions was the driving force we needed to have more than just two sides to any back-and-forth. It gave us the logical point of view to balance out the devil's advocates and the defenders.

It was this mindset that Aura brought to bear in the completion of 15 Combat Center judgements, a multi-hour affair, on top of participating in 10 matches of her own. It would be easy to just sit back and judge, but then you often lose sight of the member perspective. You need to be actively engaged in the system to know that it is working.

At the same time, her drive to help members grow found her actively engaged in bettering her judgements. When it came time to discuss a new per-post commenting system, she jumped in to not only understand it but to see how it would save judging time and benefit the members. Her insight proved valuable, and it helped define our current system. She also took this point of view into the qualification exams and helped in the completion of 2 entries.

It was a pleasure to have worked with Aura and seen her drive towards bettering the experience and membership of the Brotherhood. I look forward to seeing what she does next, now that she has made yet another achievement.

Darth Renatus, 2018-02-04 14:57:25 UTC

During Blade’s time here in COU she has been Rollmistress and now our Pcon and in my estimation she has rewritten the book on how a RM should work within their Clans. She had been an integral part of the everyday life of the new members and a thorn in the sides of the us House Leaders for quite some time now.

I don’t say this as a bad thing at all it’s just the way she is and she takes the job of caring for the new members quite seriously. Her elevation to PCon has not slowed that down at all she is rapidly becoming a great leader within COU and in her own right. I know the few times Blade and I have not seen eye to eye was on in the scope of how best to award our members and in what order they should be best treated.

“Arguments” for the benefit of the members is never a bad thing and ones we didn’t mind having cause at the end of the day it was the members that would wina better Clan experience. Blade has always done wonders as Role Mistress and I only seeing her topping her feats as Pcon.

So I’m more than honored to add my recommendation to Blade’s EQ3 Promotion!

Congratulations, Blade this is truly well deserved!!

Edgar Drachen, Quaestor of House Hoth

Ghost Edgar Drachen, 2018-02-05 00:53:38 UTC

I will try not to repeat what I wrote in the Grand Cross and Sapphire Blade she earned since her last promotion. The impressive statistics of her time as a leader and an ACC judge will be covered by others.

Blade is a consummate leader in COU, she set a high bar for Rollmaster in taking care of all the members in the clan, not just the JMs. She poured her heart into not only taking care of members administratively but in making sure they were integrated into our community and were having fun. When I think of all that the Rollmaster position is capable of and should be, I think of Blade. She also lead by the front, coming in first place in our event with Taldryan, becoming our highest scoring member in the GJW ACC prelim, winning the ACC GJW bracket, winning the JA bracket and becoming third hero overall in the war, all while integrating and motivating members and performing her summit duties at a high level.

It's leaders like Blade who make COU what it is. I couldn't ask for a better member of my clan summit as a Consul or a leader as a regular member to carry the Clan into the future. Thank you Blade for all you do.

Turel Sorenn
Red Panda Enthusiast

Councillor Turel Sorenn, 2018-02-06 01:32:18 UTC

Blade has been a rock solid leader in her time in COU. Even after her last merit which was her first sacramental, she has continued to be that support system both the members and the summit leaders below her need. I cannot speak enough to the small things she does outside of the numbers and projects many above me have spoke to. What hits me most is her ability to not only try to understand the members, but also reach out over and over again if needed until she understands what makes her summit members tick and trys to mediate and guide us where needed. She truly has the pulse of the Clan and when she starts to feel it's on the edge she steps in to understand, help, and be the rock we need, instead of having the it's my way, or the highway attitude. I do truly appreciate everything you have done and will continue to do in order to support your members and summit leaders. Congrats Blade!
