Primary reason

When we think of an Equite, we think of a great leader and a member that contributes to the Brotherhood as a whole. And of those that fit these ideals, A'lora is one of the first to come to mind. Under A'loras tutelage, Odan-Urr has become one of our most active units, and not only has A'lora excelled as Consul, but he has left his mark on the wider Brotherhood by assisting various Brotherhood-wide projects.

When we appointed A'lora, we weren't sure on the future of Odan-Urr. The unit had struggled in recent times to really excel. A'lora turned that around, immediately. In our very first unit report, Odan-Urr was our third most active unit, and they haven't let up since, quickly cementing themselves as a fixture in gaming, fiction writing, and graphic design. A'lora had done so well as Consul, that within only a handful of months of appointment, he had already earned an Amethyst Kukri, in no small part due to his transformation of Odan-Urr. The unit has only excelled since, consistently ranking second or third in the number of members participating in competitions, the number of competitions being run, and in a variety of cluster measurements that demonstrate not only are Odan-Urr's members active in competitions, but they are engaged in every facet of the Brotherhood.

As others illustrate below, A'lora engaged his Clan with the Brotherhood immediately, launching a co-op competition with Arcona that was enormously successful. Since then, A'lora hasn't stopped. He's run some 50 competitions as co-organizer as Consul, and while for some that would imply he isn't doing a ton of work, for A'lora, being a co-organizer means helping grade, helping plan, and helping organize participation. A'lora participates regularly in competitions, and when he does, he leaves quite a mark, having won 11 Crescents or Novae since his last promotion. Prior to his role as Consul, he was recognized for his incredible efforts in the Great Jedi War, earning an Anteian Cross for his overall efforts and a Silver Nova for placing in a graphics competition.

The consistency that has marked Odan-Urr over the last month as a supremely active unit would not have been possible without the dedication and guidance of it's consul. His steady leadership has taken a unit on the brink and created not just a competitor, but one of the best units in the Brotherhood. This, combined with his incredible talent and dedication to the Herald's office before appointment as Consul (detailed by Vyr, below) and his work on character sheets under Marick (as evidenced by his Grand Cross) makes A'lora more than deserving of promotion to Equite 4.

Congratulations, A'lora. You deserve it!

When I try to think of a succinct way to describe A’lora and what he means to the Clan, “Consul” doesn’t quite cut it. He’s so much more than that. A’lora Kituri is quite literally the paragon of Clan Odan-Urr, one of House Odan-Urr’s first new Journeymen who, applying his considerable talents, quickly left his mark not just on the unit but the Brotherhood as a whole. As a true leader, he set the bar to a height that Odanites will strive to match and discuss for years to come. His notable contributions in the realms of the Herald, the Voice and the Clan collectively read like the exploits of an Elder, a rank I have no doubt he will one day achieve.

For the past eight months I have had the privilege of serving as A’lora’s deputy, working hand in hand with him to raise the Clan into new heights. I firmly believe that the Clan is on the verge of what will be remembered as a golden age and that is due in no small part to A’lora’s steady hand and vision as Consul. Returning to Odan-Urr as the new Pronconsul after almost a year on Arcona’s summit, I was immediately set up for success as A’lora provided me with subunit and Clan internal reviews prepared at his direction and a comprehensive roadmap of past and future Clan events simply called the “Codex.” He gave me all the tools I needed to do my job and the trust and freedom to do it. The latter part is especially noteworthy because he effortlessly demonstrates the leadership style many strive for, he doesn’t micromanage, he empowers and brings out the best in his subordinate leaders. A’lora is willing to take risks and place his trust in his leaders, he gives the summit his vision and maximizes our leeway to accomplish it.

We worked together on adjusting the summit roles, most notably the Clan Rollmaster position. A’lora had the courage and foresight to try something different with the Rollmaster position and use it as a second Proconsul to handle project and administrative support while House summits assumed responsibility for Journeymen. When the needs of the Clan changed to require a more traditional Rollmaster, he didn’t hesitate to evaluate the need and make the changes required, hiring and working with Xantros to retool the position into what it is today, a leader wholly focused on developing all our members, not just Journeymen.

The fruits of A’loras tenure as Consul can be seen in the high and still rising levels of activity within the Clan. In addition to the events he organized with Vyr, I got the opportunity to work with A’lora on The Rise of the Force Ascendant a thirteen competition Clan event that boasted 30 unique participants with an average of 4.6 entries per member (averaged over the entire Clan roster), making it the most successful internal event in Odan-Urr history. He was instrumental in the drafting and proofing of the fiction and supplemental wiki pages for the event, the development and grading of the events and the promotion of the entire event.

Speaking of communication and event promotion, A’lora has received the best unit leader report Crescent an impressive eight times. His presence and level of engagement with the Clan members is exemplary but he goes beyond that to assist Clan members with their fictions, ACC matches and on three occasions has drafted entire species proposals for the character sheet system on behalf of COU members (two of which were approved and one is under review with the Voice).

The most recent, and I believe strongest, example of A’lora’s visionary leadership came when we were both approached by the Grand Master about COU’s role in the club lore. He had the courage and foresight to take the Clan in a bold new direction by leaving New Tython behind and becoming the rebel Clan who openly opposes the Iron Throne and the Inquisition. I don’t think those outside Odan-Urr truly appreciate what a sacrifice and a huge risk it was to leave the rich and familiar world so many had invested in building. Such a drastic shift could have easily lead to mass defections and a disgruntled member base, but A’lora immediately and clearly communicated his reasoning for the decision and his vision for the future getting the entire Clan on board. What could have been a disaster has lead to more optimism and renewed interest in helping build our new lore than I have ever seen. That positive outcome is due almost entirely to A’lora’s clear vision and empowering not just the summit but the member base as a whole to help plot this new course.

So on behalf all Odanites present and future I thank A’lora for all that he has done and continues to do for the Clan. I can think of no one else more worthy of the pinnacle Equite rank. Congrats boss.

Turel Sorenn

Proconsul, Clan Odan-Urr

Champion Rajhin Cindertail, 2016-04-05 13:59:22 UTC

To say that A’lora Kituri is the most profound leader Odan-Urr has seen since its inception is not an understatement. A’lora was the first member who joined Odan-Urr and has been in it since the beginning. He has held positions of Rollmaster and Aedile in the former House and easily stepped up when we eventually clanned, and became Consul. I have had the privilege to work with him as his Rollmaster (for a few days) and as his Proconsul, helping him with the huge undertaking of adjusting our internal structure, lore and the difficulties they presented. Right off the bat, A’lora had a vision for the Clan and he steered me and the rest of the Summit to fulfill that vision.

We’ve worked together on three major events as a Summit: Tales of New Tython, Sentinel Network and our coop event with Arcona, Tides of Change. Tales of New Tython showed an 87% participation rate, and combined with the Sentinel Network event, made for an excellent warm up and intro to the Tides of Freedom. The coop event with Arcona, though lighthearted and friendly in nature, was a true test for Odan-Urr. After our showing in the Crusades and GJW, A’lora roused the Clan and they held their own against the First Clan. This might not seem like much as we lost the event, but after Tides moral was on the rise and people became much more engaged in the goings-on in the Clan. I believe that, though we all worked as a Summit, A’lora’s vision and his friendly and open attitude towards his members were a big part of that small success.

As I became Herald I had to leave my position, so Turel can speak more on A’lora’s accomplishments later on, but I will touch on him as a person because I find that raw data is not enough to express A’lora’s importance to Odan-Urr.

Speaking of the Herald’s office, A’lora has a long history of working with me and former Heralds on DB graphics. His most recent exploits regard the ACC venues, mostly, so I’ll leave that to Marick to explain. However, in July 2015., A’lora received an Amethyst Kukri for his work for the Office, which include multiple excellent graphics, as well as organizing documentation and supporting others through constructive criticism and advice. He has continued this tradition in the DB Art Club where he advises aspiring artists working in 3D.

Though he is young, he is kind to everyone and anyone in the Clan and outside it. He is level headed and is often the one who maintains order in an argument or discussion. He is open to all ideas, values all opinions, but holds his position with unwavering resolve: in short he works for the members and the betterment of the Clan, and the Club, and that is the hallmark of a great leader. Personally I expect to see much, much more from A’lora in the future, maybe as Consul, maybe as some other position, but he will undoubtedly remain one of the best leaders we have in the Brotherhood.

Since he was last elevated, Kordath has participated in 134 competitions and (co)organized 28 competitions, placing in many in doing so to earn 41 crescents (3 Cr-D, 5 Cr-R, 14 Cr-A, 7 Cr-S, 9 Cr-E, 3 Cr-T). He submitted 26 PvP matches and 118 PvE activities to garner 2153 Clusters of Fire and 312 Clusters of Earth, as well as 6 Pendants of Blood. However, he has also shone outside of gaming, having written 65892 words worth of fiction over 4 ACC battles and 22 fiction activities, with an additional 10710 words in nine Run-On posts alone, all for 147 Clusters of Ice! In addition to this, he has passed 2 Shadow Academy courses and gained 2 Dark Side Degrees, as well as 2 Legions of the Scholar. Kordath has further earned a Scroll of the Master for mentoring Lonewolf to Dark Jedi Knight, and has received several awards for his service. Most prominent of them is his Sapphire Blade award, given to him in demonstration of long hours of dedication, tenacity, and a drive to see his Clan grow and have fun. It acknowledged his astronomical personal activity and his devotion to Arcona's unusually demanding Rollmaster position - a position which had him handling and teaching not only every Novitiate and Journeyman that came along, but also giving input, tutelage, and recommendations to aspiring Equites as they worked to advance themselves beyond what they once thought possible. Previous to said sacramental, Kordath also earned two more merit awards, a Steel Cross for spectacular performance in the Clan event Fall of Scepter and more personal activity, and an Anteian Cross for, you guessed it, high participation and promotion of Arcona's Halloween event and yet more personal activity (seriously, this guy does a lot).

In the last seven months, besides all that personal activity and accolades, he has also served as a leader in Arcona the entire time, first as the Battleteam leader of the Nighthawk for 2 months, then as Rollmaster of the Clan for 5 months. In both positions, he has set the definition for what the role can - and should - complete with a dedicated person at the helm. As both a leader and general member, he creates opportunities for others, provides competitions and ideas, encourages new members to become regular entities, and defies our minds with his personal activity. He is regular in his contact to new members, seeking them out to advance within the ranks of the Novitiates and Journeymen, and helms the Clan’s Master-Student Program for Pre-DJK ranks while assisting diligently and constantly with the advancement of Equites.

Additional reasons

Sometimes, this place is a mess. That's a statement every one of us can relate to, with life in general as well as the atmosphere of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, but in particular it must be applied here, to our club, and here, to Arcona. Arcona is a beast, balanced between constant glory and insanity, one of powerful personalities that constantly clash, and managing it is no small task. Neither is managing it while welcoming and easing in new members of the family, helping guide returning veterans and current stars alike, and completing utterly mindblowing amounts of activity, all at the same time. And, all that, while remembering that the best way to cut through all the messiness is to just bear in mind two important facts: we're all people, and we're all here to have fun. It's a hard job, even sometimes a hard thing as a regular, functioning fan of our dear club, but Kordath Bleu d'Tana does it all. His ability, aptitude, and attitude are second to none I can name, and together they form one of our most fun-encouraging, laugh-getting, grand-performing leaders and members. Even at his lowest points, Kord is the man I'd pick to stand beside me when all the cards are down, because that's just who he is, and it's who he's always been for the Brotherhood and Arcona.

Kord's last seven months have been ones of service, steadiness, and that aforementioned brilliance. Previously one of our most recognized Battleteam leaders, he tackled a Rollmaster position that had been in sore need of someone to truly invigorate it and breathed life into it with his personable manner and constant, active presence. As Uji will tell you, he spent these months contacting and guiding every new member to come across our doorstep, by email or otherwise, bringing many onto Telegram to mingle among their new brothers and sisters. His "Rollmaster Roundups" provided the whole Clan with convenient, centralized updates on competition information from all across the Brotherhood, providing new members and old with easy access to activity that would lend to promoting and involving them. He's vocal in regular chat and in summit discussions, always a voice of temperance as well as encouragement, advocating amidst dramatics for the most important baseline in this club: the members' continued enjoyment. His down-to-earth influence and affable, approachable presence make him a safe harbor for each and every member and leader, from Initiate to Consul, to come to for support and rest, and he does this while competing so much that twenty competition entries in a month's span is "slacking" to him.

I mention his activity repeatedly for its meritoriousness in number and accomplishment, but I hail his behavior, both behind the scenes and up front, most of all for its rarity and worth. Kordath is the kind of person every group needs one of the function well rather than just struggle to survive, a piece of heart and humor, and he shows it in his efforts every day. For that, I thank him, and am happy to be promoting him to Equite III today. Congrats, blueboy.

Atyiru Caesura Entar

Consul of Clan Arcona

Master Ruka Tenbriss Ya-ir, 2016-04-03 17:26:49 UTC

Generation defining members are rare in our club. There are certainly members that make an impact, leave a small mark on the club… but Kordath will not leave a small or insignificant mark on this club - it will be huge and last for generations after him. And that is why I believe he is ready for advancement to *Equite III.

I have seen members with big motors in our club. Hell, I’ve been a member with a high level of activity in our club… but our resident Ryn puts me to shame. He has participated in over 309 competitions and organized another 42 competitions in his career since the site started tracking it. And it’s infectious to those around him. His activity inspires others in his Battle Team, his House, and his Clan. Some members set their sights on him in an attempt to overtake him (they never do, by the way) and others use him as the role model for the perfect member in Clan Arcona. I am honored to work alongside him. I am honored to call him a partner in Clan Arcona. Without him, we could not have come this far or had the levels of success we have seen in the past seven months.

Thank you, Kordath, for everything you do. A promotion is not award enough, nor praise enough. So we will buy you drinks when you come visit us!

Braecen Kaeth
Quaestor of Galeres

Braecen Kaeth, 2016-04-03 17:27:41 UTC

The Rollmaster position in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood is hard to define because every Clan utilizes the position in its own way, and each member that serves brings their own style as well. Arcona’s Rynmaster — Kord — goes beyond the simple definition of “handle the administrative duties involving Journeymen.” Kordath leads, everyday, by example and is one of Arcona’s most active contributors. This is evident by his stellar activity record and supported by the sacramental and merit award(s) he has earned since his last promotion.

Beyond the statistics, Kord sets the example for what an active member should be. And since he is not officially tied to either House, he has the flexibility to interact and engage any member, new or old, regardless of their Housing assignment. Setting a good example early on is important, in my experience, to longer-lasting retention with new members. And when a new member shows up, the Rollmaster should be the model to which they strive. Kord does this by engaging and offering help to anyone who asks for it. Even when doing something as simple as making sure a new member is brought into the appropriate chat groups, Kords diligence has kept Arcona moving forward without concern of stagnation.

I’ve also gotten to see Kordath as one of the most active ACCers in the club (5 matches completed recreationally since his last promotion, and 21 total since the ACC re-opened). He’s encouraged newer members to try out the ACC, and has been integral in being a test-dummy for some of my new judges. He takes these delays to grading on the chin, and always has positive feedback that has helped me gauge development for the ACC.

In short, Kord is the model member: active, friendly, present and above all else, reasonable. Level headed. I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen him yell at anyone before. It is endearing. Indeed, Kord sets the bar — without really knowing it or asking for recognition — that gives others cause to follow. This type of leadership doesn’t show up on paper all the time, but is one of the headline reasons I also feel he’s more than earned this promotion on top of his credentials on paper.

Congratulations, Kord. You’re still my boy, Bleu.

Combat Master (Append on behalf of Marick Arconae #10214)

Lord Marick Tyris Arconae, 2016-04-03 17:30:58 UTC

Although Kordath’s time aboard the Nighthawk was short, it was still enough time to motivate, inspire, and teach the others he came into contact with. I would be lying if I said I didn’t learn anything from him. I still aspire to be able to create such humorous fiction as he does, and will always admire his ability to lead regardless of the setting. Once he decided to move on, I realized he had given me enough courage to step up to the BTL spot, and that would not be possible without him. He is an example of the kind of leader I like to see, and would like to be. Congratulations, Bleu!

Rulvak Qurroc Battle Team Leader of Nighthawk

Ruluk Okoth, 2016-04-03 17:31:34 UTC

I've known Kordath for several years now - and it would take longer than that to read all the fiction he has written for the Dark Brotherhood in just the last six months. I'm fairly certain he's earned more credits in that time than I have in the last decade and a half. And he's done all this while serving as Rollmaster of the largest and most active club in the Brotherhood. If that's not praiseworthy activity, I don't know what is.

However, Kord's contributions go beyond mere numbers and statistics. He's solid, dependable, a vibrant fount of enthusiasm, energy and charisma that few in the Brotherhood can equal. His activity is infectious, inspiring everyone around him to strive for more, to do and be their best. His offbeat, often-gallows humor brings a smile in the best of times, and he's always quick with a joke in the worst of times as well. He's quick to challenge others to best him in competitions and events, driving members to compete when they might otherwise forgo. In short, he's Kord. There's no one like him, and no one who has earned this more.

Congratulations, Kordath. For everything you do, you've more than earned this.
