How do you turn around a unit that is suffering from everything from morale issues to low membership numbers? How do you take a unit with a very heavy veteran presence, with members who've been here for over ten years, and make it into a demographically better unit? How do you spread the word of your direction, your ideas, and your success once you have got there? For Tarentum, these last three months, its been from relying on the shoulders of Caesar.
It has been years since I first met this fellow who went by the name Gareth, Since that day I've watched him grow as he in turn developed new and interesting characters. Mist, Tiberius, and more recently; Benedict - these are all names I've known this member by as we both shuffle through the many units that have intertwined in each of our histories. I remember these things because I remember worrying how far he would go. I've always liked him, but unfortunately Caesar doesn't connect well with too many others. He's bounced and been bounced from units because certain people don't see or appreciate what he can bring to the table because they are too busy trying to force things into place that weren't meant to be. That is why I was both glad and nervous to see him in Tarentum when he returned from the Rogues. Tarentum, as everyone knows, has some interesting...strong willed members. However, when someone fits in they are not only allowed to flourish but are encourage by the clan as a whole to; and sure enough Tarentum embraced Caesar and he's been not only allowed to flourish but respectfully pushed by everyone here to further his place in this club.
Three years is a long time for a promotion, and to go from Equite 1 to Equite 2 can be damaging towards morale. Fortunately, I've never once seen this with Caesar; he's always optimistic, engaging, and driven to do what he can to get involved - not for his own merits but because he wants to be an active part of the unit. It's something I respect and wish I could see more of. Regardless, three years is almost too long to go without a equite promotion and I'm happy to be the one to push this matter forward. In the time since his last promotion, Caesar has been a consistently active member in the DJB. Participating in everything from general trivia and flash games to vendetta competitions like the Dark Crusades and GJWXI; he's been recorded has having participated in 94 competitions since his last promotion earning him 14 crescents of various types, 50 CFs, 16 CIs, 1 bronze novae, and several of his 5 Dark Crosses awarded since his last promotion was because of his consistent activity. Yet, Caesar is not just a consumer of the DJB, he is a contributor - hosting 20 competitions since his last promotion and serving as a BT Sergeant. Furthermore, and what he has been most useful to the Tarentum cause is his contributions to much of the Clan Summits projects.
When I came in to Consul, Caesar had already been managing the Clan's social media for months (a responsibility he started and took on himself). At that time we merely had a facebook page and twitter account and before Caesar took the reigns these accounts were pathetic with little activity. Since he has taken over, these accounts have grown and so too has Tarentum's marketing. We now have active campaigns on each of these, as well as looking into other medias like flicker, tumblr, and instagram and its all connected to the Social media campaigns Caesar started on his own and has grown to be a benefit in spreading our content and bringing in recruits. It's also be a boost for morale in sharing the stories of our little community, and this is part of the character that Caesar has. He actively engages the Clan on the mailing list and telegram is hopes to get conversation and dialogue started and its part of the kindling that has started the fire for change in Tarentum. Furthermore, aside from his Caesar has also been involved in other side projects for myself in writing up mailing material to the Rogues in efforts to get them back into activity and hopefully into Tarentum. He's also is responsible for the creations of our communications policies and guidelines that we are holding membership accountable to on our official clan channels and it has been a great tool in the reduction of bullying from our unit. He's a member of consistent and appreciated activity, both by consuming and by contributing and further he's been a leader among his peers taking on projects to help the summit, starting projects of his own to bring in members to Tarentum, and frankly without his efforts Tarentum wouldn't have been able to get off probation like it has. Because of these contributions and his efforts, I think its only fitting that this champion be elevated to the next rank to better represent his unit. Thank you Caesar, and congrats.

When he returned to activity from the Rogues in September of 2014, Caesar wrote that he wanted to "start to become active again." To say he's accomplished that in the nine months since would be the most severe of understatements. Since day one of his return to Tarentum, Caesar has been a veritable whirlwind of activity. Some of it is easy to see from a look at his dossier - since his last promotion, he's earned five Dark Crosses, placed in fifteen of the ninety-four competitions he's participated in (receiving fourteen Crescents and a Bronze Nova to boot), and organized or co-organized twenty competitions. He also received one of Tarentum's two nominations for the most recent Exodus Day's Seal of Loyalty.
Obviously, an Equite promotion is less about the simple things you can find on a dossier than it is in the ways you've given back to your Clan or to the DJB as a whole, and I think Raiju has covered that quite well. However, when I pulled up his promotion assessment and saw just what Caesar has accomplished since his last promotion, I know I was a bit blown away. The promotion guidelines state that, when looking at an Equite promotion, "attitude and how one interacts with the larger Brotherhood also plays a role as it represents ones growth and maturity in the club," and he's certainly shown that growth and maturity well in the past nine months. Honestly, if everyone had Caesar's attitude - that can-do, "What can I do to help?" mentality he exhibits constantly - the sky is the limit on what we could accomplish. I try to make sure he knows always how appreciated he is, but showing is better than telling. For that reason, I am beyond pleased to join in recommending Caesar for promotion to EQ2. Congrats!

The path to Dark Jedi Knight can be daunting. The vast majority of members who sign up with the Dark Jedi Brotherhood will never make it to this rank. Many of them fail to get past the initial steps and fall flat on their face before making it out of the Shadow Academy. After that, the majority don't make it far into their new home within the Clans because the adjustment to the Dark Side can be too much. After that, again many fail to earn the armory lightsabers of the most basic Dark Jedi. Those that survive the clumsiness of these pathetic weapons may make it to the point of earning solo missions for themselves - but few return to be granted the rank of Dark Jedi Knight and be awarded the lightsaber that comes with it. Showing himself above this filth, Garloaf has earned this rank to date. Since I met him, Garloaf has been driven to earn this rank, but surprisingly has taken time along the path to serve the needs of Tarentum. Time and time again we tied in these needs to his trials because of his dedication and loyal to the unit which is surprising to see in a Journeyman in my experience. Nonetheless, its been a treat to observe this member grow and interweave himself into the unit I most treasure in this club. Five months ago when Garloaf earned the rank of Jedi Hunter I knew it was only a matter of time before we got here. In the past five months, Garloaf has been a great member of Tarentum by being a consistent competitior, submitting to 19 separate events. From these, he earned himself 6 placements. Along with this, he earned a Dark Cross from picking up the slack of the tarentum summit and running trivia for us. Garloaf has always been a contributor and that's why I wasn't surprised to hear him ask to run 2 competitions and take one a project creating recruiting material for his trials because he knew how it would benefit Tarentum. When things didn't tie in, he still knocked him out like earning himself rank 4 in the SA society or by earning 2 degrees, or even creating a wiki page for himself just to get the credit and move on to things more important to Tarentum. Again, it's been quite to treat to see Garloaf grew with his dedication to Tarentum and I am extremely honoured to have been involved in his journey to knighthood. Congrats Garloaf.

The promotion to Dark Jedi Knight is an important milestone in a person's career in the DJB, and as such the requirements are definitely not something to be taken lightly. It's my pleasure to join in this recommendation for Garloaf's promotion and show just how well he has not only met but exceeded those requirements.
For starters, he's showed not only a willingness to compete - participating in nineteen competitions - but an ability to compete well, placing in six of those competitions. He's also shown capability in the Shadow Academy, earning Dark Mavens in Philosophy and Web Design; the latter of which I know from personal experience requires a not insignificant amount of time and effort. His Wiki page and character fiction both showcase a fleshed-out character and his capable imagination.
He's also shown a willingness to help the Clan out, co-organizing with his Master, Raiju, not one but two competitions. Further, he assisted the Clan Summit with an email campaign to the former members of Tarentum in the Rogues to try and recruit them back to the active roster, a project that has seen a great deal of success and is a large part of why Tarentum has so demonstrably rebounded since the beginning of the year. For his persistence in completing his tasks and the willingness to help us succeed as a Clan, I am happy to add my voice in recommending Garloaf for promotion to Dark Jedi Knight. Congrats!

In his 28 days as a Jedi Hunter, Kaiburr has swept through the requirements. He has participated in over 15 competitions, netting
6 merit awards for his skill. He not only participates, he has also co-organised a competition for his Clan. He's been an active gamer, receiving 90 clusters of Fire. He has worked hard developing his character, writing 3000 words of fiction to develop his character as he has risen through the brotherhood. Kaiburr has also been looking to his future in the brotherhood, participating in Leadership exams to understand the leaders of the Brotherhood. He has also managed to obtain a degree in the Shadow Academy, working hard to enrich his knowledge surrounding the Star Wars universe. He has gone above and beyond, assisting the summit in an important task that they assigned him.
Kaiburr has been an incredibly driven and competent individual. Every step of his walk through the journeyman ranks, Kaiburr has been involved with the rest of his Clan. He's been brimming with ideas, adding new fire to our Clan. He has always been present to go above and beyond. Not only is Kaiburr willing, but he is also very competent, as shown by his awards, and the success in the competition he co-organised.
For these reasons, I am honoured to recommend Kaiburr for promotion to Dark Jedi Knight. Congratulations, Kaiburr, you've earned it.

There are few times I sincerely find myself without words. Even when lacking inspiration, it's no difficult practice to force the letters onto the page and make something legible and lovely of them. I might not feel it, but the phrases themselves have their own melody, their own meaning that gives even the most emotionless sentences a certain beauty if strung together adeptly. I wax on about this because it is now one of those rare occasions when I find myself struggling with speech - not because the inspiration isn't there, but because the subject of discussion is, himself, so difficult to capture in a few orderly pixels.
Kaiburr, or Mord, as we more readily recognize him. That's who I'm here to tell everyone about today. That's who I'm talking to now. Mord is one of our newest members, though for all his study and for the landmark we celebrate today, I would not call him a newbie. A lot of adjectives come to mind with him, and I've started and deleted several versions of this recommendation trying to put them together just right. But I don't think I have any fanciful comparisons for this. I can only be plain (or at least, as plain as I can get. Sorry MAA folks).
Mord is eager. He is absolutely boundless in his energy and imagination. He is the sort of person who sees boundaries and stopping points and just pushes past them, because he's too busy running for a brave new world to slow down. And while we might need to give a word of caution or wisdom now and then, he is never discouraged for long by closed doors - he just takes (or makes one) the window instead. That's the sort of zeal and positivity I get from him every single day when we chat. He is constantly cheery and conversational, constantly striving for more, for the next task, the next idea or proposal or thing to improve. He brings all sorts of suggestions to my door and to other members of the Clan, from detailed story concepts to developmental ideas. He's always talking to other people, always offering ToR runs or roleplay sessions for character development. And, on top of all that initiative and friendliness, he's also excited to learn. Nevermind the way this guy tears up at the Shadow Academy, he searches out teachers, lessons, advice, and ideas from anyone he can, writers or gamers or leaders, looking to expand his knowledge and better himself.
I don't exaggerate when I say that Mord goes above and beyond in everything he does. 98% simply isn't enough for him - quite literally, if you peek at his SA Exam record. He eventually retakes anything below 100. He writes entire, detailed report fictions for mock-up reports in leadership exams. He crafts 3000 word fiction posts for a competition where the minimum requirement is 250. I look at him and wonder, 'What in the world will he do next?' But I always know it will be something spectacular, because that's just Mord. He is, in a word, fantastic.
Congratulations, my friend, and welcome to Knighthood. I truly look forward to all that you learn, all that you do, and all that you think up next. Hold your head high.
Consul of Clan Arcona
Golden Envoy Abbey Atty Attiter Ann, 2015-06-07 21:45:35 UTC
Today I have the great honor of representing House Galeres in placing the rank of Dark Jedi Knight upon the shoulders of one of our own and most prestigious Journeymen: Kaiburr. This brother in arms has done his very best in learning the ways of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and has come so far in his training, having passed a total of forty-one Shadow Academy Exams during his time as Journeyman and attaining three degrees. Aside from this, his drive to complete competitions offered within his House, Clan and Brotherhood have netted him six Crescents, showing that his dedication towards friendly competition is priority to his nature as a Brotherhood member.
Mord, as we still know him by on IRC and various other channels of communication, has offered many different suggestions for bettering the House and Clan, including, but not limited to, creating calendar events, member skill databases and more. This proves to me that Kaiburr is one of those members that won’t stop until he’s had a hand in assisting any of the members within the House and/or Clan. Without members like Kaiburr in the Brotherhood, I would wonder where our club would be going, but with his drive and dedication to current and future members, I know we are in good hands.
Congratulations, Kaiburr. This has been one of the funnest journeys I have seen for one of our Journeymen, and I am glad to assist in granting you the rank of Dark Jedi Knight. Choose and wear your saber with pride, for you have earned it.

Mayda Ferium, hard working Rollmaster of Scholae Palatinae, is due recognition of her efforts. Since her promotion to Equite 1 back in early 2013, she has been a fountain of activity, example of leadership, and supporting voice to all she comes across.
As a leader, Mayda has spent the last three months keeping a watchful eye on all members. She has helped council the wavering, direct the lost, and push for greater working relationships between everyone in the clan. She has worked toward greater immersion for our journeymen, in the form of some fun “trial” activities outside of the promotion guidelines that they can use for further character development. She has brought back the Imperial Gazette, a CSP newsletter full of fun articles and new developments in the SW universe. Mayda never shies away from what giving suggestions or input on the projects being worked on, which is incredibly helpful when you’ve started to question if things are making sense.
As a club member, her last two years is incredibly impressive as well. She has participated in 114 different competitions since her promotion to EQ1. These include 27 Independence Games submissions, 12 various Dark Crusade submissions, 7 submissions in the GJW XI, and all 12 competitions of the recently concluded CNS/CSP Co-op Red Fury event. In Red Fury she also finished first overall.
This participation has earned her 46 different crescents, including two diamonds and ten rubies. She has netted an additional 2 Steel Crosses, 5 Anteian Crosses, and a Dark Cross. She has been responsible for new members, and mastering Athrun to DJK. She is also responsible for helping keep other new members in the club, where others had failed.
There are few who can say they’ve put in as much hard work as Mayda has. For her fantastic efforts, both as a leader, and as a member, I recommend she be advanced to the rank of Equite 2. She is more than ready to stand as a Krath Archpriestess. Congratulations Mayda! Drinks are on you!

Mayda Ferium is a large force in the clan and Scholae Palatinae would not be the same without her. She has stepped up as the clan rollmaster and has strived in the position giving the clan all she can for its members. She has reshaped and transformed the student program with new ideas on the table that would not be possible without her. Her dedication to the program has been proven with many students paired up with great teachers chosen using her own expertise. She is a great teacher herself, taking on four apprentices with her effort that has shown positive results with a student promoted to dark Jedi knight.
Mayda has earned an anteian cross for her efforts. She came in first place in the Red Fury campaign along with Clan Naga Sadow. She has participated in 114 competitions and organized 11 competitions. she has clearly shown what being a leader by example is all about with her activity. she has also started up a gaming competitions for the clan which already has sequels with different games to engage our members. she pushes to make these ideas bear fruit and do what is best for the clan, for the members, and what they would like to see from their rollmaster. She has earned eleven crescents in just the month of May which displays extraordinary leadership by example to everybody including the journeyman who look at teachers. She also earned a scroll of the master. The ascension of her student to knighthood is a mark of good teaching on her part as well as an effective program with a great master. Her work with the clan as the rollmaster has brought on many master student pairs that have led to friendships in the clan with a great learning experience for all. She clearly leads by example in addition to taking great pride in her work within the clan. The clan is in a golden age with her tutelage of our mentor program as the rollmaster. This is our future of our clan and Mayda is making it happen for all. She is a great rollmaster and a pleasure to work with and I know that she will continue with the great work that she has done and look forward to working more with her. Congratulations May drinks on you!

Mayda is a very passionate and very dedicated member of Clan Scholae Palatinae. Looking most recently since she re-joined us in the middle of the Great Jedi War, where she stepped up and did everything possible to participate and form groups late as necessary, and put out the highest quality entries she was capable of.
Shortly after, she was willing to help out however she could, offering advice and giving feedback through the whole re-clanning process for Scholae Palatinae, and upon wrapping up those events, she found herself in the position as the new Rollmaster. A role that she has filled in a great way, driving participation from members, and engaging and encouraging them to participate with emailed lists of competitions that are closing soon and reminders of what they can do and surveys and countless discussions with members on what types of events they want to see. She has come to running an endless stream of flash games for the Clan so there is always something to do amongst the different major competitions and events that are going on.
While doing all this, she took the initiative to create a CSP newsletter and form a team and a mailing list that has put out several different issues to the Clan including humorous and entertaining bits to keep everyone engaged in the fun we all have.
She has been a great and highly effective catalyst to the great and abundant fuel of talent and personalities that we have collected together in our Clan. I hope that she continues to find enjoyment in what she does because Equite 2 is only the next step in what she can accomplish as she continues to impress with her skills as a project leader.
Congratulations on your promotion to Equite 2 Mayda, the Pink Nebulas are on me!
Lord Evio Nezsa, 2015-06-03 23:42:37 UTC
Mayda is a truly and uniquely inspirational member of Clan Scholae Palatinae and is without a doubt the most driven member of the organization that I have had the privilege to work with. It is evident that Mayda is a talented writer, graphic artist, and competition planner. She has earned high placements in competitions and a staggering array of awards and crescents. Yet, that is not what warrants her becoming a Krath Archpriestess.
Mayda, simply put, is a proven leader with limitless energy and zeal for her clan and the DJB at large. In assuming the role of Rollmaster Mayda has reinvented the position; not only is emailing all new members and helping them on the path to Knighthood. No, Mayda has taken a person interest and care in all that pass through her door. Example; one member left the clan due to disagreements on the gaming function of the DJB. Mayda took it upon herself to hear out the grievances, work to retain the member, and failing that put in efforts to create a gaming database of all CSP personnel by gaming title and platform. Few would take on such a challenge. Mayda did it because she felt it would have helped a member and vowed to do more, to do better, at retention and forging connections with her people. That is a true leader.
Beyond leadership and personal abilities, Mayda also finds time to contribute to the fun and character that is CSP. She has created numerous small, recurring flash and graphic competitions to try out new models for future usage and to generate discussion. Likewise, she has edited and driven the quarterly CSP news bulletin and article paper out of her own desire to simply give back and her love of writing. Again, few people would take what they enjoy and make it institutionalized as a benefit for her clan. Mayda is one of a kind.
Congratulations Mayda it is a pleasure to work with you and count you as a friend. Drinks are clearly on you.
Grand Inquisitor Ragnar Kul, 2015-06-04 17:15:12 UTC
Out of all of the newer members of Scholae Palatinae, I have thoroughly enjoyed having Mayda around the most. Her devotion to the clan, commitment to excellence in her positions, and her general activity have been a great benefit to Scholae as we made our move back to clan status.
Although she affects the clan in a number of ways, the presence of Mayda as Rollmaster has been a major reason that we have continued to produce a large number of Dark Jedi Knights over the past two years. With her at the helm of the master-apprentice program, we have noticed a significant increase in the number of completed apprenticeships. In addition, her competitions and haunting of IRC has allowed her to develop a number of relationships with the newer members that has spurred their own activity to increase as well.
Overall, I just want to thank Mayda for her spending her time with the clan, and I wish her well as she progresses up the Equite ranks. Congratulations!
