Marrek Gunstinson is one of the most active Journeyman I've seen join the Dark Brotherhood recently, so much that I knew who he was and what he was doing before I joined Arcona. I knew upon my appointment as Quaestor that ensuring his promotion to Dark Jedi Knight was one of my goals before the year ends. Whenever he has time he is on IRC talking with any Arconan in the channel. He has passed the Leadership Fundamentals exam and ran his own competition, which was a trivia, just recently. He's registered on the forums, which he then used to get 1st place in the Svolten run-on during Phase Two Chapter One of the Dark Crusade. He received a Dark Cross months ago for his tremendous activity. He has more than met the time requirement and has officially finished five pages of character fiction. Marrek is exactly the type of Journeyman any Summit is excited to have and a role model for other Journeyman.

For all this activity and more, I am ecstatic to promote you to Jedi Hunter and hope to be promoting you to Dark Jedi Knight in the not so distant future. Congratulations!

Cello has over the past 5 years has earned not only many competition and merit awards for his service to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood but also shown an an interest to studies and learning more to further develop as a productive member. He has seen multiple masters set forth a plan for his trials and leave before they could be completed, this past summer he approached again looking for someone to look into his past and put together a new path to help him finally complete the trials he has started so many times and ran a competition seeking support for completing his lightsaber which was just finished (summit assigned task). In the time I have spent discussing the Dark Jedi Brotherhood with Cello and getting to know him, I found someone passionate about his character and the future with a genuine interest in doing more with the limited time he has given his real life obligations. All that he has accomplished is clearly outlined in his past, but I feel it is long overdue given his long past that he finally wield his lightsaber and join his fellow brothers in Scholae Palatinae in our future endeavors. Congratulations Cello and looking forward to our many adventures together as Dark Jedi.

Additional reasons

JH Cello’s promotion to Dark Jedi Knight has been a long time coming and more than well earned. In his long history here in Scholae Palatinae he has completed the following requirements to reach DJK. He has earned a couple merit awards, placed in many competitions (a majority of the ones he has participated in actually). He participated in many competitions including a difficult Voice competition. He has organized 4 different competitions, including one finished just this last week as part of his Summit Tasks. He passed the Leadership Fundamentals and Leadership Studies courses. He has two Mavens (General History and Philosophy).

Beyond that Cello has remained and endured where many would have given up and left. He has been on the short end of the stick too many times to count but still remains. Despite hardships that include having his former master cause issues for the club, he has continued to strive toward excellence. This dedication and perseverance is something severely lacking in many members.

I know its been a long road Cello. But you’ve been a real champion along the way. Great work on hitting DJK. Drinks are on you!

Lord Idris Adenn, 2013-10-16 00:33:32 UTC

It sometimes takes much longer to become a Dark Jedi Knight than we would wish; often due to the factors, which are beyond our control. During my time in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, I have seen Cello doing his best to fulfill the last requirments for the rank of the Dark Jedi Knight, despite unfavourable real life circumstances.

Now, I am glad to see that Cello has completed all requirements to become a fully trained Dark Jedi Knight. His achievements have already been described, so I just want to say that it is a great moment both in life of a Dark Jedi Brotherhood member and our community to cheer for someone's success, especially such important as becoming a Knight. Let this recommendation be my small token of appreciation for Cello's persistence, hard work and dedication, which are far beyond displayed by many other members of the Brotherhood. Congratulations!

Adept Xantros, 2013-10-16 07:48:59 UTC

It’s proof of Cello’s determination and persistence that he has stuck it out over the 5 years he’s spent as a Jedi Hunter. Throughout multiple masters and real life concerns, he has: organised 4 competitions, passed 2 leadership exams, participated in and placed in many competitions, earned Mavens in Philosophy and General History, and earned 2 Dark Crosses.
I think there have been very few times when a promotion to Knighthood has been as well deserved, but sometimes the hard work makes the reward all the sweeter. Congratulations Cello, I look forward to seeing where your DB career takes one as determined as you.

Primary reason

Seren Dipity Puer-Irae is a studious journeyman. I recruited her into the Brotherhood and served as her Aedile in Tarentum for a little over 3 months and she was one of the most active members we had.

She has logged onto IRC and visited the clan channel, registered for the forums, earned a merit award, participated in more than 10 competitions, ran more than 1 competition herself, and earned way beyond 25 Clusters of Fire. She worked hard to ensure mostly she only has time requirements left for her promotions. Today she completed her MAA Task, which was to update the Policies and Projects page on our Wiki. This required linking any completed pages, finishing any pages that weren't complete, and creating Wiki pages for several policies including Banned Names, Clan, House, and Independent House Guidelines, Dark Brotherhood Family Policy, Honorary Clan and Family Name Policy, Guide to Custom Species Creation, and the DB RPG Guide. For her hard work completing all the requirements and this MAA Task to bypass the time requirement I would love to see Seren Dipity promoted to the rank of Padawan.

Congratulations and thank you for your hard work!

Seren's Master Quaestor of Qel-Droma Ernordeth PuerIrae

Seren's efforts since arriving here in Odan-Urr have easily defined her as one of the hardest working journeymen (and member!) of the house. As her master, Ernodeth, as greatly outlined above; Seren has successfully earned her right to advancement to the next journeymen rank and deserves to be now called Padawan for the amazing efforts she has made since her last promotion. Competing regularly is a merit in itself but Seren has driven past this with a great reputation of placing; a point I believe needs to be recognized. She clearly gives her all for everything she does, whether it is these competitions or the recent MAA task to bypass the required time in rank. Therefore because she has clearly completed the requirements for this rank and I believe her attitude clearly reflects the necessiary desire and drive to be competitive in this club; I hereby request with her Master for Seren to be promoted to the rank of Padawan.

The Dark Brotherhood has benefited from an outstanding year of new leadership emerging from our ranks. These new leaders have utilized their real world skills and applied them to the business of making the Dark Jedi Brotherhood a more exceptional place to be. Of these new leaders, none are more deserving of a promotion than our Fist, Sith Battlemaster Valhavoc. Since assuming the duties of Fist, Val has worked tirelessly to communicate our club's gaming objectives, provide transparency on his decision making process for selecting new games, and improve gaming systems. Val's recent work resulted in faster CF turn around, new systems within the Dark Brotherhood website for gaming staff, and the updating of CF reward tables to ensure fairness concerning effort to reward ratios.

Val is truly an exceptional member and leader within the Dark Brotherhood. He is level headed, funny, and capable of handling crisis situations with poise an elan. We are lucky to have him within our club and even more lucky to have him commit to serving on our Dark Council. Val, thanks for all your work and dedication!

GM Pravus, Voice of the Dark Brotherhood

Seven months ago Valhavoc was an Aedile of House Qel-Droma. In the time since then he served as Quaestor before moving into his current position as Fist of the Brotherhood. Among the many things he has accomplished in his current position include: rebuilding the DB's TOR guild, managing all the July gaming events for the Dark Crusade, rebalancing the CF award rate for Diablo 3 and TOR operations, and large variety of of other tasks. He worked closely with James to ensure that the gaming portal built into the new website met the needs of the Fist staff and the club as a whole.

The results of his work are easy to see, even for someone who is not a very active gamer in this club (like me). The awarding of CFs has rarely been smoother. The number of games and gaming platforms that are supported for activity in the club is expanding. And it is under Valhavoc's leadership that this has taken place.

Thank you for your leadership, ideas, and service, Valhavoc. Congratulations on your promotion!

Kalen Aquillarum, Master At Arms of the Dark Brotherhood

Once upon a time, members would be promoted just for getting appointed to a position on the Dark COuncil. Having the nerve and the moxy to get nominated was enough for many to consider them worthy of these higher ranks. Nowadays, things are a bit different. We choose to let people earn their ranks with actions, not just the promise of action.

Valhavoc came into a mess. Although his predecessor had done many good things in his tenure, they were all but washed away by the circumstances that led to his retirement. This left a lot of work to be done. Gaming servers had to be sourced and hired. The rites of combat and even the awarding schemata needed to be adjusted, balanced, fine-tuned. Valhavoc dove right in. He didn't make sweeping declarations or come up with grandiose plans... he just went in to fix what needed fixing. His adjustment from clan life to Council life has been solid. He's embraced the culture shift and the differences that come witht he territory, and he's made himself not only the subject matter expert, but also an indispensable part of the team. Not just as a contributor, but as an advisor, and a voice of reason when dealing with hot tempers.

I looked up Valhavoc's dossier a little while ago. He is marked as a Battlemaster, an Equite 2. I am frankly surprised that he hasn't already been promoted. I recommend that this be remedied as soon as possible. He's been performing at a high level, and I suspect that if he continues, the Brotherhood will gain mightily from his stewardship of gaming and whatever else he may seek to improve.

Val, please accept this promotion as a token of our appreciation for what you do. Thank you.

Muz Ashen, Dark Lord of the Sith

I have had the pleasure of hiring many outstanding and talented members for key positions throughout the club. I have to say Valhavoc has been one of the most impressive and successful Dark Councilors I have ever seen. Val has stepped up to all the pressure and responsibility therein and not just met the challenge, but exceeded it.

In the past there has been a tendency for Dark Councilors to become stagnant in their positions. We sometimes forget that Fist is about more than just gaming. Voice is about more than just writing. So on and so forth. We sometimes forget to push the boundaries of what the last occupant of the position did.

Not so with Val.

Val took up his new position and immediately recognized the potential for improvement, expansion, and innovation. One of his most recognizable achievements immediately upon taking the office were the improvements to the way we award Clusters of Fire. Overnight, Val greatly reduced the turn-around time for awarding these important Gaming achievements and simultaneously increased the fairness by which they are processed.

He has also explored and implemented new games and platforms for Gaming competitions at all levels. Recognizing the importance of mobile connectivity, Val has run a number of mobile-based gaming events to explore the potential of this increasingly critical means of interaction with our membership. These events have been very popular and are sure to become a new standard activity for the club.

As well as ushering in the new, Val has gone back and revisited the old. Immediately upon taking office he was faced with the problem of securing new servers for some of our staple games such as Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast. He undertook the financial burden of this duty without so much as a word and also personally resolved the many technical glitches that resulted.

He has also begun an ongoing revision of the sometimes nebulous and confusing Rites of Combat. Val continues to work on all this while supporting the colossal Dark Crusade Vendetta with well-received gaming events, scoring, tracking, and a great deal of help outside his Gaming purview. He has made that process far easier and more fun for the rest of us involved and is almost always the first to report his scores.

If Valhavoc was impressive at the House and Clan level, I can personally attest to him being even more impressive at the Dark Council level. I can see plainly now why Val rose so far so quickly. It has been a pleasure to have him on the DC with us and I look forward to what is yet to come from the office of the Fist.

Val, please accept this promotion on behalf of a grateful Brotherhood.

Raken, Deputy Grand Master
