Over the turn of the New Year, Abadeer chose to make it a special occasion. In the past year that he’d spent in Clan Plagueis, Taasii had come a long way. He’d been Knighted, and subsequently made a Warrior. He’d taken steps into the Summit of Plagueis, and had learned much about himself.

Abadeer had found his true passion in fighting. He loved single combat and had learned, and begun to master two fighting styles in the past year. And now he felt it was time to learn another. He would spend this next year mastering two more styles. After much discussion and debate with his Quaestor Arden, Abadeer had decided that Djem So would be the next best style to master.

To learn this however, Abadeer needed to find a master of the style. He’d learned much about it in the Shadow Academy, but the theory would only get him so far. It took quite a while to find someone who was at least on Abadeer’s level as a duelist, and also had mastered Djem So. It took some searching, but eventually the answer came. Battlemaster Ra’gnar, Abadeer’s predecessor to taking over the Battleteam of Apostles of Syn.

Ra’gnar was not always one to acquiesce to such requests as training someone for no reason, but fortunately Abadeer now carried some weight as his Aedile. On the last day of the standard year, after a particularly long Summit meeting Abadeer climbed into his shuttle, where Gura Gura was waiting for him. It didn’t take long for Taasii to make it back to the Karness Muur compound, but he took the time to formulate out a plan to coerce Ra’gnar into training him in Djem So.

Immediately after landing, and having Gura Gura take the Wraith back to the hangar, Abadeer quickly strode through the ancient halls towards Ra’gnar’s quarters. The door slid quickly open to reveal a small room where a muscular blonde man sat studying a datapad. After a moment of silence, he turned to face the towering Togruta.

“Aedile, how might I help you?” Ra’gnar asked curtly. Not everyone was in approval of Abadeer’s rapid ascension to the Summit, especially those who were of higher rank and more experienced than the young Sith.

“I’m in need of your combat expertise. It’s true that you’re a master of Djem So, is it not?” Abadeer responded. Ra’gnar shifted, a certain amount of pride filling him.

“I am, and what of it commander?” The response was noticeably less course.

“I’m in need of a Master of the Djem So style. I think it is the next step in my progression to become a Master myself, and I’ve had tutelage under you already in the Apostles of Syn. I thought you were the logical choice to seek out.” Ra’gnar looked away, nodding to himself. The pair sat in silence for a long time.

“Well I suppose that I could teach you, but you must understand that I will not be an easy teacher. You will follow all of my commands and all of my teachings.” Abadeer nodded in response. He could sense an amount of attempted manipulation on Ra’gnar’s end, but he didn’t have a choice.

“Of course my Lord. That won’t be a problem. Why don’t we get started now?” Taasii motioned down the hall in the direction of the training room. Ra’gnar stood, leaning his neck to the side causing several deep cracks to occur. He smiled wickedly.

“Lets.”

Abadeer panted exhausted from the several hour session with Ra’gnar. Djem So was a much more energy spending style than Abadeer’s primary Makashi. After spending an hour on the basics of the form, the pair sparred what seemed endlessly. Ra’gnar’s mastery over the skill was too much for Abadeer to overcome, and he had been beaten into submission over and over. But this session had been just what Abadeer was looking for. He needed to learn something new, and this year he would become a master of Djem So. As Abadeer gripped his saber, his eyes flashed with a bright yellow gleam. He could feel his power growing, and he knew that it would only continue to grow.

Abadeer tapped his fingers on the bar, looking to the bartender.

“That drink, if you would.” Taasii wouldn’t be asking a third time. The man slid a tall glass across the wood counter. Abadeer nodded before returning to his table. Seated there was a selection of various members of House Karness Muur. Taasii sat down in his seat, looking around.

“Now, where was I? Ah right.. the shield generator.” Abadeer was trying to appear suave, taking a long draught of his drink. “Well let’s see.. so they raised the generator, and it was making troop advancement totally impossible, as well as costly. So I came up with a suitable strategy with Arden and we were able to shut them down. We had a small platoon, and I used them to full advantage. They were directed as a full frontal assault distraction. They attacked the hill well, but it wasn’t enough. Then I took myself, and a few others and took some secret routes to be able to get around the enemy.” One of the Knights from Karness Muur was nodding excitedly, he’d been drinking heavily all night.

“How’d you do it? You must’ve been so worried. I mean the shield generator was so heavily fortified!” Abadeer nodded at the praise.

“It wasn’t a mission we could leave to just anyone, but I was able to accomplish it. It took a great amount of skill and perseverance, but those rebels never stood a chance. After we got around their defense, it was a matter of just eliminating them. I mean it only took about ten minutes to move through the entire encampment. Maybe you boys could learn something. It’s all about the plan, as long as you have the skill to execute it.” Abadeer nodded sagely as some of the younger members had shocked and impressed looks on their faces. The older more experienced members just sat and rolled their eyes.
