Terran Koul has earned 5125 medal xp for a Sapphire Blade! Since his last award, he has ranked up four times in the Antei Combat Center as a Judge with the release of the new ACC society. Those matches he graded weren't the only thing now earning a set value, there’s quite a list of accomplishments that prior to the XP system their worth wasn’t quantified — like clusters. Terran has earned 4,177 Clusters of Fire in gaming, 126 Clusters of Ice in Fiction, and even 36 Clusters of Graphite. His gaming efforts included securing 18 Pendants of Blood. And he’s certainly made a mark as a seasoned vendetta player, earning a total of 112 vendetta seals since joining the Brotherhood. The man was awarded 2 Dark Side Scrolls, 1 Scroll of Indoctrination, 2 Scrolls of the Master, and 4 Legions of the Scholar. And he’s done so much more, activities that had contributed to past awards and promotions, all recorded on his dossier.
When I joined the Brotherhood and Arcona, I found myself in House Qel-Droma while Terran was Aedile. He, along with others, saw leadership potential in me and encouraged me to apply for Shadow Gate’s Battleteam Sergeant, which spurred my path in djb leadership. He helped guide and teach me the ropes, how to write reports, run competitions and events, evaluate member’s activity for awards(I still remember often the key for comps/awards worth broken down in points, how it seemed like a precursor to xp system, a little sanity check). Terran helped not only to facilitate and direct Qel-Droma’s fictional story but also Arcona’s, aiding alongside Atyiru/Ruka with the Sins of the Past event that spanned multiple years. He went from Aedile to Quaestor to Proconsul for through the last 8 years, all while being Magistrate to the Seneschal.
With our further ado, Congratulations, Terran Koul, on your Sapphire Blade!

Vic or Terran has been a long time advisor and Arconae for years. He was present the entirety of my leadership career at various levels in the Arcona summit, helping teach leadership and administration to multiple generations including now past Consuls and current Proconsul. He was also always a voice of critique, consideration, and reason on the summit, and would build any number of tools from spreadsheets for medals and promotions to chat to HTML export converters when we were getting the idea of Telegram Roleplays counting for CIs off the ground, a solid precursor to the RP system that exists today. Vic bled for his Clan and those successes have continued to pay forward into the next generations of this Club on multiple levels, and for that, and for just being there for us whenever we needed him if asked, we are always thankful.
Congrats, Cap'n Browncoat.

Returning to our midst in our time of need like an avenger from the dark or a fabled hero of yore, Terran Koul aided Clan Arcona (and House Qel-Droma) to victory in the recent GJW XVI. Applying his skills to gather a total of 7 Seals of Transcendence (and tracing on his boot soles a Cluster of Earth), he displayed the old maxim of working smarter, not harder. For by strategically placing his efforts among seven different competitions of seven different “buckets”, he managed to accrue a 7/9 completion rate and maxed out both Phases 1 and 2!
A remarkable feat for a returning member and one for which I am happy to recommend he be awarded a Steel Cross!

Terran Koul has been a member of the Brotherhood for twenty two years and spent over seventy five percent of that in some form or another of leadership and/or position. More on that below though. Terran was last promoted in January '16, and since then he's organized thrity six competitions, co-orged another four, and participated in ninety one (one hundred eighteen if one counts the container competitions), placing in fourteen of them, four of which were earned in Brotherhood vendetta events. He racked up a respectable 841 Clusters of Earth and 78 Clusters of Fire from gaming (as well as two Pendants of Blood, which can't even be earned anymore), 36 Clusters of Graphite, and 61 Clusters of Ice from just shy of seventeen thousand words of fiction. He collected 39 Vendetta Seals, and a Seal of Loyalty for his longstanding service to Arcona and the Brotherhood. Of that service, merely during this rated period, he spent six months as Aedile and roughly twenty months as Quaestor of House Qel-Droma, in addition to a solid six years as Magistrate to the Seneschal. Somewhere from that, he earned a Steel Cross and Amethyst Kukri for what he did in those enigmatic years before XP.
Now, I haven't been in the Brotherhood for twenty years. I haven't been in for ten. Since joining the Brotherhood, Terran collected an impressive record of time as a leader and servant. Eight months as Battleteam Leader, twenty three months as Aedile, thirty one months as Quaestor, one month of Rollmaster, twelve months as Proconsul, one hundred eleven months as Magistrate, and seven as the Brotherhood's Combat Master. Those positions are spread across seven Battleteams, five Houses, and one Clan, including some names that don't even exist anymore: Houses Kirleta and Aleema; House Ektrosis and Battleteam Phoenix; House Marka Ragnos and Battleteams Night Hawks and Avatars of Death; and House Qel-Droma with Battleteams Shadow Gate, Arete, Void Squadron, and Night Raptors. And from all those positions in all those units, he spent a cumulative one hundred ninety three months — roughly sixteen years — in service in some form or another. I even had to make sure I didn't double-count his DV service, and I couldn't even find what that acronym meant! I also had to go look up what the Oracle was in the wiki! Frack, man!
That leadership time more than doubled many of the above stats since just his last recognition. To highlight, 197 competitions participated, 61 organized, 34 co-organized, and such a karkton of Vendetta Seals that I can't subject someone to reading through the full list; only that they add up to one hundred five Seals. Someone's been clubbing. Given the list of Merits and Sacramentals, the Novae and the Crescents, and after having scrubbed the everloving, Hutt-fracking poodoo out of his dossier, I can tell that Terran's career wasn't just long, but eventful. He was there through the good times, the bad times, and all the times in between. And while I may not personally get along with him most of the time simply for clash of personalities, I can't fault his dedication to an organization that he clearly loves and has loved for a long, long time.
What all of this boils down to is that this is an "old guy" in the Brotherhood, and his service record warrants that he finally get the recognition that comes with old guy rank. Give this man a cane to wave and a yard to yell at the kids from. Terran, thank you for your years and years of work and time. We look forward to seeing what you do with this new coat of paint rank.

Since his last recogntion, Terran “Vic” Koul has been a steady pillar of Arcona’s Arconae, serving the Clan as Aedile, Quaestor, and Proconsul for a total of over two years. In addition, his service has been to the Club as a whole, with over 5(!) years of Magistrate work for the Senechal. He has worked tirelessly for our benefit, but also as an individual, with 25 (co-)organized comps and 83 participations, for which he’s earned 843 Clusters of varying kinds and a palette of Crescents as well.
As an extra note, it should be mentioned that most of the organized competitions came from running two episodes of Clan Arcona’s “Sins of the Past” -storyline. In addition to the mere competitions themselves, he was thus responsible for organizing the plotline and co(ercing)-ordinating the efforts of multiple writers to craft a singular storyline.
Whenever Arcona has gone to War, Terran has been there for us, earning 39 Seals from the last four Vendettas alongside 4 Novae for his stellar performance. It thus cannot be said he hasn’t been giving it his all when the Clan needed him the most.
During the past while that he has been working for Arcona, Vic has truly been a fundamental force for the Clan, and especially House Qel-Droma. For a fact, we still use the Activity Tracking sheet which he pioneered, helping us to keep track of our members’ activities and working them towards Awards and Promotions.
Further, he drafted a training document (Responsibilities and Expectations for Summit Positions) to help with the teaching of new leaders, aiding in the immensely important task of legacy planning. He was also creating a Rollmaster’s Guide, further showing his commitment to institutionalizing formal leadership documentation, even if the position is of now getting mothballed.
In his tasks in Clan leadership, Terran has offered invaluable insight in forming the AEF/DDF into its current shape, his deep knowledge in all things Fleet related having always been at our disposal. His leadership style encouraged subordinate activity and responsibility, giving independent tasks for people to use their own creativity to accomplish—in accordance with the best tenants of delegation. Indeed, he spent the last six months of his tenure as Quaestor making sure his Aedile and BTL were up to the task of replacing him, showing his dedication to longevity of both House and Clan.
In the trenches of the Wiki Wars, he oversaw the Arcona Article Improvement Program. There, he oversaw, coordinated, approved and made suggestions on everything Arcona wiki related for close to a year and a half. As a massive part of the previous, he revised and organized the Clan's personal timeline, summarizing major events and laid them out for ease of access to the newbies. The sheer amount of long-beard consulting, email un-dusting, and lost holocron hunting that was required for this task beggars belief…
For all of these efforts, and the daily ones which so often slip through the cracks, I am honored to recommend Terran be awarded an Amethyst Khukuri as recognition of his service to House and Clan.

Terran Koul truly is an asset to Arcona. I have had the opportunity to work closely with him during my tenure as BTL of Voidbreaker, and I can say unequivocally that he has a leadership style that is unlike any other. He is very knowledgeable, and does not hesitate to share his insight with others. He readily provides support and guidance to those who are new to leadership. He is in many ways an excellent project manager. It is for these reasons that I am happy to lend my voice in support that Terran be awarded the Amethyst Kukri! Congratulations, Terran!

Terran Koul, better known as Vic to some, has been a backbone of the Arconan summit and Arcona as a whole for, and I mean this quite literally, the last decade (2011). I only get to talk about a small part of that service, but it is still an important and vital part.
Vic was always at hand and on duty to help, even before I was an Aedile and when I became Consul. While it may be hard to define what an "advisor" is in metric, I can tell anyone that it involved discussing every topic that ever came up to the summit, offering solutions and playing devil's advocate to every problem, email chains in the double and triple digits and a boggling number of spreadsheets and midnight debates about spending credits and the merits of ship types and fleet allocations that I knew nothing about-- and a lot of other things. As Consul, I knew I could delegate any task involving data management or tool building to Vic and it would be done right away with more efficiency than almost anyone else could manage. He built activity trackers and award calculators and report templates. He taught myself and other rotating generations of the summit over the years wiki coding and Markdown even before the courses and often in place of the courses (because it's easier to ask). Most wiki tables on Arcona pages came from him.
As Quaestor during my Consulship, he cared for Qel-Droma closely and built out not only tools and updated wikis for them, refreshing a lot of old material and building from the ground up with his leadership team, but also tackled the Clan-wide plotlines and competitions with me in Sins of the Past, which others can also detail. This was a huge undertaking. He plotted out a year out of Clan plot by himself, created the Muun Species proposal in order to provide the CS for one of the first villains, created and ran those completions, created Star Wars story crawls for each sub competition and the main event (you can still watch them playing in gif format on Discourse), posted all the plot updates, and made sure all members who contributed to the fictions were credited and awarded bonus CIs for it.
Besides this, he also revised and updated the Arcona Fiction Timeline, wrote our Leadership guidelines, managed fleet planning as aforementioned, and stepped up to Proconsul after I retired to continue serving. He's done everything-- proofed every fiction or post, listened to every rant, been the voice of reason that kept our summit from going off the rails entirely at the worst of times. These are not reflected in numbers, but they are no less critical. It is why he is a title holder: because few have given so much for the Clan in service as he has.
Thank you for always being there and having our backs, Vic. For loving us more than our faults.
