I am honored to be recommending Scarlet for her elevation to the rank of Jedi Hunter. She has been a driven and motivated member of Clan Naga Sadow since joining proving herself to be a valuable individual inside of the Brotherhood. Progressing further down the Journeymen path towards Knighthood.

Since her last elevation she has managed to complete all of the requirements set forth by the Master at Arms Office. Scarlet has been a activity bomb recently, I always see new emails coming in about her activity, for good reason she has participated in a total of thirteen competitions since her last elevation. For this she has managed to place in one competition earning herself a Crescent with Emerald Star. Scarlet always thinks about others as well, running a competition to allow members to get involved and participate in her own competition. Scarlet continues to progress herself in participation, she stepped up and dove head first into the Leadership exams, managing to successfully pass two of the exams. Never taking a break or resting she has recently sat down and wrote a two thousand work fiction depicting her training and experience since joining Naga Sadow. On top of all of these she is an active presence on IRC, talking with new and old clan members alike, always wanting to help.

I am honored to be the one recommending Scarlet for the elevation to Jedi Hunter. Her hard work, passion and friendly attitude towards everyone is a credit to her character. Congratulations Scarlet keep up the hard work and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.

Reserved for those who show a drive rivalling that of the Brotherhood’s elite are the Equite ranks. Each one warrants a certain kind of selflessness that a member shows in favour of the betterment of their Clan. Whether this drive accounts for leadership, activity or project contributions, the exact avenues one can follow towards these ranks are limitless. Seridan is an example of one of these members who has not only earned an elevation to the Equite ranks, but no less than three Steel Crosses since attaining Knighthood. Some members would burn out after the labour of following continuous sets of guidelines. Others would note the lack of guidelines and seek direction. Seridan is one of those members who has never asked for reward for his efforts, but continues to draw the attention of his peers through his contributions, nonetheless.

Working alongside V’yr Vorsa has given him some recognition for his efforts in maintaining our wiki articles to provide us with the best, most organized and completed libraries to date in the Brotherhood - That’s a fact, and one that is evidenced in his recommendations for no less than two of the three Steel Crosses. Further proof of this quality is recognized in the articles for the Legion of Steel, Paladin Squadron, Shadow Company and Ooroo articles, which he worked tirelessly to complete, reformat, and in some cases, write from scratch. As if his article contributions weren’t enough to warrant a promotion, Seridan has proved time and again to be one of Clan Odan-Urr’s top participants in Clan-level events. This Jedi Knight managed to place himself on the leaderboards in the last two Clan events, consecutively in both Return of the Light as a first-place participant and Tales of New Tython as a third place participant.

Regardless of placement in competitions, Seridan hasn’t burned out or lost interest. I would list all of the competitions Seridan has participated in since his elevation to Jedi Knight, were it not that the list were sixty-nine competitions long. In addition to this mountain of entries, he’s gained himself a Crescent with Ruby Star, two Crescents with Amethyst Stars, six Crescents with Sapphire Stars, seven Crescents with Emerald Stars, ten Crescents with Topaz Stars, five Crescents with Quartz Stars, twenty Clusters of Fire and nine Clusters of Ice. That’s a total of thirty-one Crescents gained through competition placements, almost half of the amount of competitions he’s participated in has gained him an award for the quality of entries he has shown. In addition to this, he’s also contributed in Vendettas, earning two Seals of Revelation and three Seals of the Crusader. He would also co-organize three competitions and participate in an ACC battle, with more being fought.

I have no doubts that Seridan is ready to take the next step into the Equites for his contributions through the last year. Congratulations!

Additional reasons

Since I became BTL of Strike-Team Ooroo last March, I always record Medal awards in my BTL reports and every time I file a report, Seridan is always on the list with something. To recap, since last month he already received numerous awards for his placement on various competitions, mostly fiction which is his area of expertise: Clusters of Ice x2, Crescent of Amethyst x1, Crescent of Sapphire x3, Crescent of Emerald x3, Crescent of Topaz x1 and Crescent of Quartz x1. For gaming activity, he received 5 Clusters of Fire and was recently elevated to GMRG Rank II. In Training or Shadow Academy area, he completed six exams: Leadership Rewards, Runon Studies, Leadership Reports, Grammar Studies, Leadership Competitions and Writing Studies, all with flying colors and for that efforts he just gained the Dark Maven - Writing degree. So when I decided to name the most active member of STO aka Ooroo's Prodigy of March 2015, Seridan is the undoubtedly choice.

But he goes far beyond that as he also involves in our Battleteam and Clan project, notably in Wiki project. To the betterment of our Battleteam, he submitted several ideas and offered himself to assist in fiction and wiki stuff, something he is very capable of. Therefore I appointed him as our Corporal or Chronicler with duty to update and maintain the STO's wiki, a duty which is he carries on with pleasure and diligently. Furthermore, he also completed/contributed the Legion of Steel, Paladin Squadron, Darik Puka (NPC) and Shadow Company wiki pages for our Clan Wiki Update project. And for that, he was awarded a Steel Cross by the project leader, our PCON, V’yr Vorsa.

All in all, Seridan deserves the elevation to the next rank and begin his path as an Equite as he is what I wish every member in STO would be, self-motivated, hard-working and extremely dedicated. Sentinel Scout Seridan Brehevik, your participation and ethos as a member of this Clan is a beacon for all to aspire to. Thanks mate and congratulations on your promotion! :)

Jafits Skrumm, 2015-04-12 03:47:36 UTC

I've only had the pleasure of working with Seridan for a little over a month now. But what a month it has been. Seridan and I worked together on an entry for the wiki event of the first part of Tales, the Odan-Urr competition series. I got some good insight into how Seridan works while we collaborated. He meets (and exceeds) deadlines, isn't afraid to put his hand up for the work he wants to do and completes it to a high standard.

We managed to place second in that event, and Seridan left me in the dust in the rest of the competitions, managing to place third overall.

Seridan and I also recently completed a short ACC match. It's currently awaiting judgement, but I am sure he will come out victorious. I royally butchered the opening post, but Seridan took it in his stride; flexing his writing muscles to recover from a poor start to the story and bringing the whole situation back on track.

Why do I waste your time recounting these two anecdotes? To me, they demonstrate Seridan's truly commendable attitude. He genuinely loves what he is doing here in the Brotherhood and is doing thing to not only help himself, but to help those around him.

I see before me the Brotherhood's next great leader. One that doesn't just file the required reports and wait for the people 'under' him to find their own way through. But a leader the jumps in alongside his fellow members, leading by example and acting - as our motto suggests - as a shining beacon.

Seridan, I already count you among my good friends in the Brotherhood. Congratulations, and welcome to the ranks of the equites, Scout Seridan.

Master Windos, 2015-04-12 06:52:09 UTC

Everybody in House Satele Shan was given the unique opportunity to create a brand new house from scratch. Most people were excited, but Seridan hit the ground running. His participation in competitions has been exemplary, but where he really shines is his willingness to help out with all sorts of work on the Wiki, and, when not being given tasks, seeks out the summit on his own to get more work. He has already written the Wiki portion for the Jedi complex of HSS, pretty much from scratch, which means his design and imagination will be a solid part of House Satele Shan's lore for years. His stellar rise to Jedi Knight was on Caleb-level regarding speed, but he's worked just as hard for and is just as deserving of Equite.

Seridan's work-ethic and ability are easily matched by his personality. He is friendly and a delight to have both on the mailing list and on IRC, and he will be a great mentor for new members as well as a true ambassador of what COU stands for beyond the fiction and fluff; namely, he's a damn nice guy and I'm glad that he's in House Satele Shan.

Great work, Seridan!

Montresor
Old Rank
Battlelord (Equite 3)
New Rank
Warlord (Equite 4)
Requested by
Grand Master Declan Roark
Primary reason

I have asked my Praetors to remain non-Clanned over the course of my two terms as Grand Master. This selfish request ensures that the Praetors remain focused on tasks that I provide them, but it also harms them in terms of the visibility of their accomplishments. Fortunately, my current Praetor, SBL Montresor, contributes to our clubs in ways that are easily quantifiable and easily recognizable by the membership.

Over the past 13 months, Montresor has authored and created two major projects that are now staples of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood's administration panel. The first project, Leadership Reports, is an XLS snapshot of the activity of every positioned Dark Councilor and Clan Leader in the Dark Brotherhood. This quick view provides the Grand Master details on a member's date of appointment, last award, last promotion, date of last report, and total number of reports. This easy to read and color coded document has provided the GM/DGM data to help objectively review and award our club's leaders.

Monty's second and most recent DJB wide project is the creation of the Objective Promotion Assessment. Created over a period of days in response to a direct request from the Grand Master, Montresor created a document that provided objective data on recordable member statistics. Unhappy with the XLS version of this product, Monty worked with Kalen and James to create an administration panel on the website that displayed the same data. This project has already impacted promotion reviews and will save our leaders and members countless hours of research in the future. It will also provide the MAA and our leaders with a common snapshot to discuss potential awards and promotions. This very promotion request is using data from this project!

In addition to these two large DB projects, Montresor has also provided support to the GM on (1) the tracking, participation, word count, and placement of all GJW Run Ons. He created the participation tracker used by the DC for grading the event (total time: two hours of work, countless hours saved for the DC). (2) Montresor has reviewed and recommended the winner of the best DC and Unit Reports Competition for the past 6 months (total time 30 minutes each week). (3) Montresor graded ACC Tournament matches, specifically matches the Combat Master could not (Taldryan). Montresor also reviewed all of the final eight matches (Total time: 4 hours). (4) Montresor provides D3 gaming feedback to the fist on a regular basis in order to ensure CF balance. As our best D3 player, speed runs are timed off of his activity (Total time: 30 minutes per month, for the past five months). (5) Montresor proof read and corrected the last year of Vendetta fiction (Total pages exceeding 120. Total time: 8 hours). (6) And then the standard, non-quantifiable work a Praetor does that I can't remember. The hey you, check this, read that, do this type jobs (2 hours a month).

Monty has served in the position of Praetor for me for his entire run as a EQ3 and he has shown that he is capable of not only serving as a Core DC member, but as a future DGM/JST/GM. Thanks for all your work and for your dedication to a Star Wars club, despite not knowing the difference between an Ewok and a Wookie.

Grand Master Declan Roark, 2015-04-11 22:58:21 UTC
Additional reasons

Prior to becoming Justicar, I had not had the pleasure of working with Montresor extensively. Though I had heard many good things about him, we had simply not crossed paths. And so I was pleasantly surprised when Monty applied for the open position of Left Hand of Justice. His application showed that he understood the position and he had an approach that differed from the other applicants. Hoping that the good words about Monty were right, I added him to my team.

I learned quickly that it is, indeed, a pleasure to work with Montresor. He is at all times humble, respectful, hard working, committed and insightful. The position of Left Hand of Justice is not an enviable position. Monty is tasked with defending the members of the Brotherhood that come before the Chamber. Often, those cases are open-and-shut cases; that is, charges are generally not brought unless the case can be won by the prosecution. That makes defenses often untenable. Nonetheless, Monty has worked hard to ensure that each case is evaluated on its individual merits, and that each defendant get a fair chance.

Most Hands do not see a single case during their tenure. Monty dealt with eight within a week of being appointed. There is no handbook for the Hand positions, and so Monty had to learn through fire, digging through masses of records and working with me to redevelop a process for notifications and trials that was fair. Monty was able to give adequate information to all of the defendants and worked with each on their plea. Even more impressive was Monty's work on the trial that occurred, where he guided the defendant through the briefing process. In the end, Monty helped the defendant gain a not guilty verdict, one of only a handful of times in the CoJ history that has occurred. I was impressed during the process at how well Monty argued the Covenant, citing to specific provisions, and how well he delved into the details and nuances of the facts. I also appreciate that he understands and is committed to the process. He was proactive in all stages of the caseload as well.

In terms of quantifiable effort:

  • Monty worked as defense counsel on 7 cases resolved at the plea, with approximately 1-2 hours of work per case, including investigation, review, and communications with the defendants.

  • Monty worked as defense counsel on a case that went through a full trial, likely amounting to 5-6 hours of work, including communication with the defendant, briefing, investigation, and CoJ debates.

  • Monty has assisted with various investigations and Chamber considerations, including an extensive review of a Disruptive Member Policy action, for a total time of approximately 4 hours.

  • Monty has been in frequent communication during Chamber discussions, assisting with various matters and giving his opinion on projects and policies, for a total time of approximately 2 hours.

I look forward to continuing to work with Monty. He has a very bright future in this club.
