Marick “Wally” Tyris has spent the seven months since his previous sacramental award tackling projects, handling day-to-day duties as a Dark Councilor, and planning a major event, and doing so with the exceptional dedication that has defined his career as Voice. In addition to his role overseeing such major projects and plots, he maintained staff and oversaw the fiction community that supported the development of member’s characters leading into and through the latest Great Jedi War. His impact on a number of member’s characters and experiences as part of the DJB was greatly felt, and he leaves the position of Voice and indeed the Brotherhood as a whole a better place than when he joined the Dark Council.

His most important contribution over the last seven months has been in the fictional development of our club. Perhaps most notably are his written works, as he has written 7 fiction updates since his last award, including an interlude, a chapter, and epilogue to Brotherhood Rising, as well as the prologue, chapter 1, chapter 2 and finale for the latest Great Jedi War. These fictions established a new faction, and opened and closed a Vendetta. The most noteworthy of course were his recent work on the Great Jedi War, and Wally’s final fiction incorporated dozens of members and covered every Clan, an enormous undertaking that wrapped up the War plot and created the perfect opportunity for future development, Brotherhood-wide.

Along with the fictions during the Vendetta, Wally helped organize a venue creation competition, two different multi-objective fictions in each phase, a miscellaneous competition as well as a combat writing event. He helped to develop the prompts, answer questions and grade during the conclusion and results. He also helped manage Severian Principate competitions for world-building and NPC creation and helped to build out the details of the faction and outline who this new potential ally was for members with organization charts and details.

After all the above, he helped to close out his time as Voice with administrative updates and housekeeping to help make sure the transitionto the next Voice was seamless.For all this great work on the Dark Council as Voice since his last award, we strongly recommend for Wally a Ruby Scepter. I would like to recommend Wally for a Grand Cross, as a thank you for all his support and work on the creatures implementation into the Dark Jedi Brotherhood possessions system. One of the large reasons why creatures were not part of possessions at launch was because of just how integrated they were with the fictional side of things. A topic which I was familiar enough with to discuss but really needed someone to weather the storm of discussion and really make systemic changes as risky as they might be to see it happen. Wally stepped up in every case to ask the right questions and ponder options and decide how to proceed. His changes to the Character Sheet system are invaluable in creatures being a success, and his input into the possessions side of things so they match up is seen in the final execution of things. Not to mention he wrote a dozen and a half pre-written Aspects. Congratulations, there is no way creatures would have seen the light of day in its current design without your support.

Marick 'Wally' Tyris is without a doubt one of the hardest working members we have ever had the pleasure of working with. Since his promotion fifteen months ago, Wally has been tireless in his efforts to improve our fictional systems, overseeing numerous projects and updates to the Character Sheet System and the further development of our fictional enemies the Collective. Under Wally's guidance, the Voice office has released a new exam to ease members into their first character sheet, added new species to the selector, updated character creation guides and tools, and, in collaboration with other Dark Council offices, greatly expanded the fictional role and opportunities to members posed by our societies and other organizations. Wally has written half a dozen major fictional updates over the last year, along with editing every piece of major fiction that the Dark Council releases. He takes the lead on regular Story Group discussions and helps to shape our fictional direction on a daily basis. He's overseen numerous major competitions in that time span, including the Collective Chronicles that helped flush out our opponents, and was a major force in the Rite of Supremacy, managing not only three fiction competitions over the event, but also assisting on numerous "Miscellaneous" competitions, including the Knowledge is Power series and the Hero/Foil aspect competition. Wally regularly runs workshop and Inquisitor competitions for the Brotherhood as a whole, and is constantly improving members writing by offering detailed feedback. He takes every opportunity he can to help our members, such as when he assisted the Combat Master last June by acting as coach of one of the teams participating in the Coach's Corner ACC event. In addition to the mundane but incredibly important tasks such as 'just' keeping documentation updated, Wally has greatly expanded the resources available on the Wiki through numerous resources related to fiction, character sheets, and the Voice's office. It is for all of these reasons that we are happy to award Wally his first Diamond Sword.
